I don't like it when singers are in a race to "hit" a note. Maestros like Celine, Barbra, Mariah, Aretha, and a few more, THEY ACTUALLY SING IT! They emote and convey, that's what makes it a heavenly note, rather than a banshee's scream!

IMHO, there's Barbra, and then you start a whole 'nuther category of the best just below her. No matter how high she goes, her voice never sounds piercing to the ears like some of these do, and her lows are just as exquisite. And as for the best of the rest... there are arguably several...Kelly, Pink, Celine, Carrie, and Ariana to name a few off the top for me.
