Sambo and Judo are one of the most underappreciated martial arts to be supplemented in MMA and I'm glad, with the popularity of wrestling now, They are being appreciated by many of martial artists including Jeff. I'm curious how these sambo techniques will furthermore evolve your standing grappling game man. Great video❤
thanks for watching man, more coming!!
I think it is also a geographic difference though. Wrestling is more popular in the west, but in the east there are alot of judo-esque mma fighters. Muay thai/kyokushin is also very prominent in the east while boxing is more prominent in the west I feel like. I don't have numbers though hahahaha
@@MMAShredded hell yeah, I was hopin
Also Shuai Jiao which is the grandfather to Judo/Sambo and derivatives.
@@prvtthd401 Judo is really popular in Europe though, more than wrestling
This is YEARS worth of knowledge compressed on 6 minutes... It's amazing! Thank you 🙏
Oss!
Fun fact, Vlad is also a Shuai Jiao (Chinese wrestling) champion! 🙂
grappling beast
yeah!!!
Knew I recognized some of those leg sweeps
Thats why i saw some sanda in there!
Ofc russians and chinese simp for each other
Those trips and throws were so smooth, that was insane.
oss!
You watch him spar and compete you would never expect him to be so empathetic when teaching. He really grasps how a beginner looks at these things and explains very well.
hes awesome!
He seems like a great teacher! Would love to see more from him!
more coming :)
@@MMAShredded Noice
@@johnboikov1360 There’s amazing content on Vlad’s channel if you’re a fan of sambo. Very rare to have such a high level guy explaining in english
What a great teacher! Certifiable badass, explains everything with no fluff and has a very engaging style.
:)
Sambo is great because it was one of the first systematic attempt at blending different grappling arts and striking and grappling. It has a lot of knowledge deep into it. I am glad it is becoming famous because it will help the creation of the final fight art.
💪💪💪
I wrestled for 20 years including at a D1 college, then I met a Judo Black belt and realized maybe my throws weren't as good at I thought they were. Judo is grossly underrated. Also, this dude just seems super cool. I bet his students love their classes.
Thank you 😊
@Bob S: How to wrestle for 20 years and still keep most of your neck, shoulders, and knees please?
@@Lorendrawn God
@@Lorendrawn my neck does have degenerative arthritis, but honestly it was both shoulders that had to have surgery.
wrestling + judo is broken, but in my experience wrestling is the most exhausting grappling discipline out there.
Incredible. As a judoka who also trains muay thai this is amazing. Thanks for sharing new knowledge Jeff.
Great combination to train. I bet clinching in muay thai can easily transition into judo, right?
@@GraveRave kinda depends on what rules we are going with.
Strict MT rules I can't attack the legs with leg hooks like osoto gari or ouchi Gari. You could do some sweeps like hiza guruma, or footsweeps like sasae or deashi.
In pure Judo rules nobody clinches like that. You almost could never get a necktie and you are better off fighting for grips in the lapel and sleeve.
In something like sambo or mma, then you could mix the two martial arts with more freedom. If someone does a MT clinch on you, its quite easy to counter with wrestling/ judo moves. Hip tosses like ogoshi, uchimata and leg hooks like ouchi all day (as shown in this video). This is why in mma, people don't thai clinch a ton (we see Charles oliveira utilize the thai clinch well, let's see how that fares against Islam). I would suggest doing the Thai clinch to set up some strikes and then you gotta break free or finish with a throw. You can't be complacent in the clinch.
@@GraveRave I always wondered how someone with great Muay Thai and Judo would do in mma it’s a great combo and add some subs off of the trips and throws and you’re a deadly fighter
thanks for watching :)
You are a monster! Muay Thai + Judo is a match made in heaven. Just enough overlap to relate to each other yet enough differences to compliment each other.
Vlad is such a great instructor. I have done a seminar with him and he implements sambo into jiu jitsu so beautifully!
Wow Vlad Koulikov ! He's a legend. Great to have him run through some techniques.
Oss
Vlad Koulikov is an extremely underrated teacher/instructor and a golden mine of informations regarding not only Judo/Sambo and throws where he excels but also grappling overall. Thanks for sharing !
🙏🏻
Dude is wrestling master! Knows all kinds of wrestling styles. Absolute gem. 💎
Sambo Teacher has GREAT teaching style! He shows how and why the movements are selected, and connected. Shows how/why it flows
Thank you 😊
:)
My mma coach is a former pan american 74 kg champion! So i get to do a lot of this moves. I'm glad sambo is getting the appreciation it deserves! Great video like always jeff!
sweet!!! thanks man!
@@MMAShredded will you think you gonna use some of this technique in your next fight?
Also in John Wick 3. Love it!
I'm a Kudoka, we oftenn do the same drills of this video all over again, it's amazing for me to see how similar are Kudo with Sambo even because they're both pretty massive in Russia.
cheers!!
From what I heard kudo is more striking with wrestling while sambo is more wrestling with striking is that true?
Am I missing something or are you guys intentionally misspelling judo?
@@ghengiskhan9308 Y you heard that probably because of tournaments rules for the ground. you can find it on the web.
@@josiahgonzalez942 its different
I couldnt wait for u to upload sambo techniques
oss!
Thanks for more context with Vladislav!
The detail on the head positioning is so key. Winning the head position fight controls standing and what happens on the ground, especially with guard passing.
What a great guy! Excellent instructions, superb technique, and also seems like a very friendly person.
thanks for watching!!
04:10 That egg analogy is gold 🔥
Awesome demonstration. I've always loved Sambo techniques. I feel like Judo, Sambo, and Jiujitsu each focus on a different part of the spectrum of grappling from standing to the ground. I'm glad you're helping them get some more visibility!
Thanks for watching !
Nowadays I'm quite happy that everything is blending in together to make "mixed martial grappling", as every style has something to bring to the table.
I like to look at bjj like a degree, with different majors & minors in certain disciplines/areas.
Traditionally, I would've said "bjj teaches you how to get out of trouble; judo/sambo/wrestling teach you how not to get into trouble"
Combat Sambo covers the widest array from punching, kicking, wrestling, judo, and submissions. Not many Sambo places to train in the US though
Great to see you collabing with Vlad again. My favorite throws are Uchi Mata and Tai Otoshi if I get the underhook. Nice tip on the head placement to prevent being thrown first.
more coming!!
I remember the OOAHHHH! 😂
hahaha
This is great stuff. I train BJJ, but I’ve been absorbing as much Judo and Sambo as possible for the standing game. Vlad is a beast and incredibly informative. I look forward to more videos with him.
🙏🏻
Jeff and Vlad, A big THANK YOU for the awesome sambo techniques, especially the next-level countermeasures to opponent's likely reaction or defense. Great appreciation for going the extra mile to teach multiple avenues of attack, and so smoothly. Fantastic teacher! Honored for more opportunities to learn from you in the future.
Thank YOU 🙏🏻
Thanks for watching !
ever since i saw the short you posted I've been waiting for this video. Great work.
thanks :) more coming!

such a wonderful episode👏
Superb instruction style. Great video.
Vlad is a legend, I remember watching a bunch of stuff he had on DVD. Definitely more videos with him!

🙏🏻
The efficiency, the way he uses leavrage and slight momentum and wweight shifts to create big movements in the opponents body. Such masterful movement. You can see the years of playing around with humans:)
Cheers!
i love everything sambo and judo its so hard to learn about - the more you could do the better and this guy is so good
I did Judo as a teenager and Sa-Sai was one of my favorite throws. I was taller so that move worked so good. I used all those throws. I had 3 Judo coaches. The last one passed away in August. I did Judo in the 1990s. Our practices were so much fun. My body is too old and damaged now. I do enjoy watching these modern day blends of Judo, Sambo, and wresting tutorials.
Nice video Jeff !!!! I've been waiting for this kind of sambo techniques on your channel. 💪💪💪 Keep doing these grappling videos they are very necessary in order to complement your excellent striking videos!!!
thanks man more coming :)
Thank you guys So much!! I am Definitely taking some of these moves to use in sparring and teaching others. This was Very Helpful!
This video was incredible. What a wealth of knowledge from this guy. 👏
Makes it look so effortless, that's the art in martial arts.
cheers!
he is so smooth with it man, definitely gonna try to find some matches of his
Nice content, I like how he teaches, good respect for his partner, with the sweep he pulls up on the arm to open him up to break fall...thanks for sharing. 🙏
Now thats some great stuff! So smooth yet powerful. Sambo is great martial art.
Love this video and been loving your content man! Giving me inspiration for my training and channel.

I love the explanations. I was always trying to find the right verb for catching without blunt impact and ‘deceleration’ describes this perfectly! Thank you.

Great video, Jeff, thanks!
thanks man!
Thank you for breaking it down to simple moves.
I want to visit this school.
Amazing work 👏
Great video as usual from Jeff👍👍👍
Thanks man !
Vlad is a beast and also clearly an excellent coach. Clear, succinct explanations with great care to let you land gently when demonstrating.
An important detail to point out in the roundhouse catch --> sasae that didn't get discussed: Vlad planted his lead/base foot with his toes pointed in the direction he was going to turn. This gives the spin much more power and range of motion.
Great teacher !
Thank you 😊
Great video Jeff!!
Thank you!
Amazing throws and techniques
:)
The best video! Thank you so much!
thanks for watching!!
Bro this video is gold...thanks for the knowledge my brotha 🙏

Love the Sambo presentstion
Man these throws are so beautiful, i love Jeff's face while he is being thrown around he seems like idk just happy to be there lmao cheers !
HHahha
Dude awesome video!
The simplicity of Judo taken to another functional level with Sambo. Even the direct relational training Conditioning program clips rocked. Looks like you were crushing it too.👊😎
Feels good to transition to inside control out of the striking to gain all that grip-fit and leverage balance too I'll bet.👊💀
Thanks for watching !
Can’t get enough of sambo!!!
wow that's insane! You both deserve all of these 🖤🤎🤍🤍🖤🤎🤎🤎🤎🖤🤍🖤🤍🤎🖤🤎🤍🖤🤎🤎🤍🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🤎🤍🖤🤎🤎
