Should UNC act NOW in transfer portal? Or wait for NBA Draft Withdrawal? | Trustees call for audit

- Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels find themselves in a weird limbo. They haven’t hit on the first round of high level frontcourt transfer portal targets (Cliff Omoruyi, Jonas Aidoo, Oumar Ballo, etc.). Should Carolina wait on players (like potentially Coleman Hawkins) to withdraw from the NBA Draft or should they go head and lock up other players now? We will likely get an answer to this question pretty quickly with Vanderbilt transfer Ven-Allen Lubin beginning his visit to campus on Tuesday.
The UNC Board of Trustees, on Monday, called for an audit of the athletics department, taking an in-depth look at spending, revenue, etc. AD Bubba Cunningham is actually in Florida for the ACC Spring meetings, but will be back in Chapel Hill on Thursday for meetings with the Trustees. What will happen?
A new NIL-based MTE which will take place in Las Vegas this Feast Week is primed to change the entire landscape of Thanksgiving-time MTEs. Buckle up.

UNC should get Lubin. They have 3 scholarships available. When guys withdraw from the NBA draft you then pursue another big man. You don't pass up what you can get now for something later. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Issac, as always you make excellent observations. I'm not panicking anymore. Coach Davis isn't panicking, and that has helped me realize that he knows that the right Impact Player is still out there for the Tarheels and we're fishing for the big catch of the day!
We need Lubin and a solid 5 that is facts
I'm honestly more worried about the 4 spot than the 5. I believe the combination of Withers and Washington is more than enough. Withers is athletic and showed he could rebound and score. Give him a full game and he'll be close to double-digit scoring, and 7-8 rebounds per game. The 4 spot though, we don't have a true player at that spot, so that is what worries me the most. Toppin, that is who I'd hope they'd reach out to, but it seems they're just looking for players that can block and rebound, and will rely on the back court for scoring.
I agree with you on withers but he is not a five potentially could play that position for a few minutes a game, but it would have to be against a much smaller post player, probably more of a perimeter oriented one. otherwise he belongs at the four. The same could be said for all the other post players. we don't really have a traditional five that can push in the blocks. so I'm far more concerned at the five position than the four which I think is the general consensus of most. what we have at the moment is far more suited to play the fourth position than the five
Withers can't play defense against a guy his size or larger. Washington has not proven he can do that either. If Davis is able to work with Washington to improve his footwork and positioning, then I believe he can play a solid 5 and Withers can back him up and let the guys run the ball more. I'd just like to have a solid rim protector and rebounder to go in that 5 spot for at least half the game. High can't stay in the game for 5 minutes without picking up 3 fouls, he might be a good player but can't stay in long enough to prove it.
Im with u on Withers but Washington is not going to cut.....check his injury history....he is a 10 min max guy nothing more......if he gives us more then that then i am happy but i am not counting on it
I love the NIL tournament. What an innovative way to create million dollar revenue for your NIL program!
I get it completely about settling. there's still plenty more options. that being said, I certainly wouldn't think of Luben from vandy is a settle. I feel like he would be a huge asset to this team and come in as good as anyone we already have. if not better, he's certainly more proven at this level than any of the other post players. we have. no way he doesn't make us better. does this mean we don't need someone else? additionally, no Pat worst case scenario, if we got him with who we have, I feel a lot more comfortable than I did without him. moving forward
What happened with today's visit with Lubin?
2nd member of the UNC Board of Governors suggesting they find a more profitable conference
Once upon a time we were in the cat bird seat and a recruit either jumped at the chance for a scholarship or we just went down the line to the next one chomping at the bit. Today the tails are wagging the dogs. It's like a game of musical chairs now and we're going to have to settle for leftovers in the big man sweepstakes.
Just this time champ we will get the right guys NIL is changing the landscape so Carolina will change with the times
Yeah. I wouldn't sleep on High or Browns btw. Let the ponies gallop
Isaac - Homage to Elmer Fudd
Calling NC State an "anchor" (or ball & chain) in this situation is more than fair. Requiring UNC to bring State along in any conference move is meant to protect the less desirable school but could work as a "poison pill" for UNC's moving prospects. Cher was not required to stay with Sonny, & Simon able to leave Garfunkel. I sure hope that NC politicians (not known for their rationality & good sense) don't get in the way of what's best for Carolina.
I think if they can get a big man who is a a little less talented physically and may be only a 3-star instead of a 4 or 5-star player but who really wants to play at North Carolina and help them win they should take him. I think this will be better in the long run for the team than a player who is only there because they were not drafted by the NBA.
This board of trustees audit on the surface feels like a nothing burger, but then as you dig down into the thick of the weeds it seems like the revenue situation is a bit more dire than what meets the eye at first glance. Whie I'm loving the economic mobility of UNC, financing 28 athletic programs, I understand the questioning of the ultimate result, a $17 million shortfall. But I think it looks and sounds worse than the situation actually is in the end. There's a return on this investment that's going to more than make the athletic endeavors worth it. If not, my question to you Issac is what are the possibilities of becoming an independent, like Notre Dame, in order to better control your own financial gains? Too risky? Too impossible?
Is NIL bankrupting college athletics?
So much history has led to this point. AAU, sponsored teams, quasi-agents and much more. Bankruptcy of character vs. the bag of money
I hope Luben proves you sooo wrong!
How much Wisk 😂 Elmer Fudd
Just because someone Andy someone ‘ in the combine maybe more talented doesn’t mean they are a cultural fit! We don’t need a me me me!! j
Wait, seriously? And Brown looks like a dude, hard know what to expect with freshman. we lost 3 bigs, one coming in so still need some proven talent
