Josh smith let me down. He could’ve been a more athletic version of what draymond was for gsw. We saw glimpses of it in Houston. He was on his way to being one of the best defensive players ever and his lack of awareness offensively about his offensive capabilities hurt him. I remember when he was breaking all kinds of defensive records around 07-2010.
That era of stat sheet swiss army knife players like josh smith,ak-47,shawn marion,lamar odom was so fire cuz those guys did a little bit of everything and you didn't know what they'd do that game that would tip the scale for their team to win
Honestly, I don’t think Smith was a disappointment at all tbh. I think he topped out rightfully so. I just hate how his career practically ended in those final years. That Detroit signing just didn’t work out AT ALL and both sides should’ve known better. He and Shawn Marion and AK-47 were the leaders of the new “hybrid forward” movement that was sooooo problematic for opposing teams in that era. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Man in december of 2003 I seen Oak Hill Academy vs. Ballard(KY) play in some little holiday tourney, it was in the middle of nowhere. It was insane, oak hill had Josh Smith, Rondo, Dayshawn Wright(syracuse), and Brian Johnson(UL). Ballard had Adam Chiles(UK) and Brandon Bender(UL). Josh Smith had like 45pts and was doing Blake Griffin type moves dunkin on them boys, Rondo only had like 12pts maybe but no joke he had like 25 assists. Rondo had three or four 30+ assist games that year
