Having the thumbnails in the bottom right has lost all meaning when it doesn't have the game, series or episode number. This compilation points out exactly why the recent thumbnails are ineffective
You're so right, looking at over half of the thumbnails I have absolutely no idea what to search to get the full video.
yeah, I wonder if the changes are actually doing anything for them algorithmically, I mean I still have to look them up to watch their new episodes, they never get recommended to me
@@chickennuggets3186 part-twos, part-threes, and so on get less views, so i'm assuming they're using the vague thumbnails and non-descriptive titles to artificially boost impressions while not really doing much for viewer retention.
@@pixxlated_ I blame CZcams and the dumbass changes that they have made over time. Unfortunately forces content creators into making horrible decisions to stay afloat. Good luck getting your feet off the ground if you're a small Channel these days, they've pretty much intentionally made it so you can't succeed anymore unless you're already successful.

Look, grumps fellas. I love you guys and I love the channel and content. I understand the algorithms aren't always kind, but I REALLY can't get behind the way you're naming videos. It's really hard to tell if any video is a continuation of a series or if it's a one-off. If you play a particular game, nobody can find that video with searches for the game's title.
When you don't keep updated playlists for every series, it's nearly impossible to tell which order the videos in a series even go in. Surely there's a better way to handle this... I know I'm just one person in a sea of supporting and love-filled comments but I hope you'll consider a better method for titles and thumbnails. Thanks. ❤

@@bluebell910 They're chasing the algorithm to attract new viewers, but they're (most likely unintentionally) ruining the experience for their existing viewers and fans!
I wish they would do it how manlybaddass hero does it where if they need a catchy title at least put the games title after it, like you said, we can find it. So frustrating

The funniest thing to happen with game grumps in the past couple years is hearing Allie laughing off mic.

Huge fan of this ever since I noticed it happening with the producer on Behind the Bastards (podcast). Hearing someone unrelated laugh at something really drives home the humor. Like being at a comedy show where the environment helps enhance the humor.=

I agree, but unfortunately naming a video "Best of" would be less likely to draw in new viewers compared to a randomly titled video like this. Same reason they removed episode numbers from their videos. Most people won't click Part 15 if they haven't watched the rest, but they will click on a video with an interesting title and weird thumbnail. It's one of the unfortunate elements of them having to abide by how the algorithm reaches new viewers in order for them to make money
They'd lose half the comments complaining about bad episode names. That would make the Algorithm mad.

I love you guys a lot, I honestly do, and I usually find a lot of criticism towards you guys to be pretty unfair
But video titles and their thumbnails now hardly mention if they're compilations, part of a series, guest grumps (which feels disingenuous to the guest) or sometimes about something nearly entirely irrelevant or straight up misinformation.
It's not the biggest issue in the world, but it is something that lots of fans have expressed their feelings about, and at the end of the day we could - at the very least - do with a bit of transparency as to why this is best for you, just so we know you're listening at all
Not to mention makes finding the videos used in the compilation impossible. Yeah let me just search “Game Grumps gameshow thumbnail Dan screaming”
@@DeathnoteBB I only noticed this later after reading a comment about it, but you're absolutely right. Whether this new format is more beneficial or not, that's an objective downside that should be addressed or at least adapted to in some way

In an ideal world, CZcams would be able to function as a reliable platform without encouraging all kinds of creators to engage in annoying clickbait habits in order to sustain their channel. I'm sure the creators themselves don't enjoy it much more than the audience does either.

I cant help but agree with what people are saying in this comment section. I love you guys to death and I know you work super hard on this channel and its content, but i fully clicked on this video thinking it was gonna be something like a PowerWash Simulator episode or just strictly a compilation of that game. Please start labeling your episodes again in some way, this is getting so confusing...
I love how the comments with the most replies are about the videos confusing title system. It shows what the fans really want.
Arin's internet cafe didn't have a leg to stand on when he mistakenly spent all of his money buying that console table instead of that computer table that his paying internet costumers could have actually used.
To be fair, it was hella unintuitive to have the most basic table for the cafe NOT be the first on the list.
Here’s hoping 2023 is the year they start putting game titles and episode numbers in the titles of the videos and have even the slightest bit of relevant thumbnails again 🤞

Someone else pointed this out already, but you literally can't even tell where these clips are from anymore. The thumbnails can be meaningless, and often the titles have nothing to do with the game. The only way to find it is by looking up the title exactly, but some of them are so similar that it barely works
Hearing Allie laugh in the bg makes some of these clips 1000x better 😭😂
Please can you label the best of's with proper titles, it makes it impossible to go back and find them if they aren't named right
It really doesn't make it impossible. They are tagged with the month and year. It's very easy.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but it strikes me as odd that they have the thumbnail of the episode in the corner of the clips, but not the name of the episode. Maybe these thumbnails are more iconic for some people, but it tells me nothing. Like "oh, yeah, the episode with the thumbnail with one of the grumps making an expression, I know that one".

as someonme who has seen every episode since john left, rewatched my fav series and constantly find myself on the GG compilation videos. i'd have to agree but i would like to know how many thousands of hours ive spent with Darin and arnold.
I'm guessing Monday is the slowest time for CZcams, and it makes sense to post your best content during high traffic times to play the algorithm.
Sadly everyone does it, so it makes slow days slower.
That animal soccer world animation is wild, I’ve literally seen it as a child, and it’s from something COMPLETELY different. So they dubbed over it, but the music is still from the same original animation. I have no fucking idea how this came into my childhood, but I have such VIVID memory of it, and I’m terrified of that fact.

I forgot how catwoman proved Arin was physically incapable of reading tutorials.
Grumps we love you, but PLEASE play Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Sonic Frontiers, and Metroid Dread. Literally all three of those games are your wheelhouse and they just got ignored in 2022. I don't mind the one offs every so often and I love the gameshows, but its like getting the same food 2 days a week every week, at some point you need a break so you can come back later and like it again.
Also PLEASE make the episode titles more descriptive again.

I hate how impossible it is to tell what you're going to watch with these titles, I miss so many episodes of things I want to see cause the titles explain nothing about what the content is. It's up there with the laugh track for bad changes they've made to the show's formula for me

If the titles are somehow making you miss so many things...it's a you problem. All you have to do is look at the description. But I believe in you. You can do this.

Watching Arin fail to understand the onscreen instructions to swing in Catwoman made me understand that if Game Grumps ever ends, Arin has a promising career as a mainstream games journalist.
Some of my favorite GG moments of recent memory are ones with distant, hysterical Ally laughter in the background.
Look grumps we get it. Using a title and thumbnail like these will get you tons of wiews(a bit of a clickbait) and to be honest; if you hover over the video thumbnail on the youtube home page then yes you see exactly WHAT this video is. That is to say Best of august 2022.
But could you just title the videos what they actually are? Same goes for your normal videos where it would be helpful to know WHAT episode number in a series the video is
