#warno - Hry
Now that Warno has released in full I've published a new video reviewing the Army General Campaigns which you can find here - czcams.com/video/XvJjqSyeUtI/video.html
WARNO is bloody amazing! Such a great deep strategic RTS. I love the pace and authentic style of it. Real proper grown up gaming. 5 stars, I suggest everyone give it a try - take it slow and let it simmer as you learn the game mechanics and units.
@firstspar Grown up gaming? Let it simmer? Wise words, I like your style!
I still prefer Wargame Red Dragon but Warno still has a lot of development time yet. I hope they add a custom dynamic campaign option where you can pick factions and maps, something i've wanted for years. The scripted campaigns have very little replayability IMO.
@@xXBisquitsXx I'm hopeful for the future of Warno, looking back at previous games there are several interesting game modes they could include and hopefully the Army General campaign will be with us in early 2024 (who knows!) But the future is bright I reckon :)
The only thing I hate about the wargaming series is the restriction of supply depots and command points in the game.
After giving it more tries i've come to to conclusion i do not like WARNO. The deck building system is so restrictive and feels like it's designed to sell me DLC decks. i can already see gaps in certain nations and decks that they will fill with DLC decks later which makes it feel like an incomplete game.
The towed equipment just seems like terrible idea since auto counter battery is a thing it just makes them arty fodder. Also the missions they added are lacklustre and feel like they are just trying to add some content even if it's just a reskin of a previous mission.
There actions has made me lose confidence in the devs/publishers as i feel like they are making a medium to sell me DLCs instead of a full decent game. It's a shame so many good RTS games have been run into the dirt like Total war, they keep trying to cater to the mythical "wider audience" which tends to ruin it for the people who will actually play their games for years to come.
Whether its ww2 or something more modern Eugen Systems know how to make a fun, tactical RTS. Their games deserve to be far more popular and that includes Warno!
If you enjoy RTS games you should 100% consider Warno or one of its other big brothers from the same developer. The formula is a great balance between hotkey madness and tactical thinking for those who love the detail. Whether youre considering a purchase or a day 1 veteran thats happy to share your experience...I hope you find the video useful!
There's also something else that deserves to be more popular, I think it's a channel called Twiglets? Or something like that
@@jamesmacduff2150 haha naaaaa I've heard it's overrated!
The issue Eugen has is its sound design. Steel Division 2's sound is akin to something coming out of a child's toy. Thankfully, there are mods to help with this; however, that's really no excuse for it to be there in the first place.
@@dudeguybro I didn't realise such mods existed!
@@twiglets2 I didn't either, actually. I was talking to a guy about SD on the Broken Arrow subreddit, and he pointed it out to me
Great review! I would recommend WARNO to everyone who likes some fun multiplayer madness with 10v10s or competitive action in 1v1. Game modes in between are fun with friends but sadly only playable with lobby simulator and no matchmaker (yet?). Singleplayer most likely will be good once finsihed but for now is somewhat low on content. Once the campaigns hit this for sure will change though. But yeah just hold out until Early access is over for that. AI so far is decent but not great.
@sd_league Thanks! I'm really positive about the future of Warno, it's a shame it doesn't have more content but the developer seems committed so hopefully just a matter of time. I certainly don't regret my purchase!
@@twiglets2 The content never gets old and they're constantly adding more. I have almost 1000 hours into Warno. I have more of a problem stopping then I do worrying about content. It's really easy to go 5 matches in a row and forget to drink water. I recommend anyone and everyone buy it in early access because Eugen has promised free stuff that won't be free to non early access players. I also am subscribed to SD League and Bandanner. Top notch Warno content ;) Yellow Cossack is also a good cinematic style channel to view the true beauty and details of Warno.
@@ohsam5954 agreed, now seems a great time to buy Warno while it's in early access. Looking forward to new content, especially army general!
Man, I wish Eugen would make a asymetrical "Kaiju" themed game were you can throw all of the stuff from their games against giant Monsters, tryinging to stop them.
@bata8928 that's actually such a great idea!
Incredible Vibe
amazing idea, now i will use chat gpt and unity to make it work lol
Try EDF 5
@@christmasisawesome9348 I know EDF, was thinking more of an RTS Game, in the vein of what Eugen usually does.
broken arrow seemed to be more like wargame than warno. warno felt like a cross between steel div and wargame without doing either well
@mourka01 Yes I noticed it feeling more like Steel Division, and I suspect they will include more and more game modes etc from SD
Pretty much why I refunded it on Day 1. I wanted a Wargame sequel.
Nice video! I do have one small correction to add: zooming out most of the time like you described is not really viable against an experienced, competitive opponent. So while you definitely don't get to appreciate your tanks' camo in PvP, you are watching close enough to see the improvements in graphics between this and older games, because micro is a huge part of the difference between okay players and good ones.
@FeherMate Interesting! Thank you for sharing your experience
Wonderful overview! My only 2cents would be that the game is great at half speed against the AI for those that enjoy a tactical puzzle over fast reactions. You can switch speed on the fly (as well as pausing as mentioned). This is great for coming to grips with how deep the tactical gameplay can be. Line of sight, tanks deploying smoke and supporting arty are all much easier to "enjoy" without feeling overwhelmed. This holds doubly true for the fast paced jets that you can call in. Once this feels like second nature its easy to switch to regular speed for some multi. :)
@Nwolf5555 what a great tip for new players, thank you for sharing!
That's an amazing tip, thankyou. I feel that 60 hrs playing skirmish, is the tutorial stage for getting to grips with the game. At regular speed, you blink: and the entire frontline's collapsed around you due to tunnel vision. Lowering the speed, really helps here. Anyway, Warno's amazing and I keep coming back to it.
Great video, well rounded, and certainly helped inform me!
@user-je6wr9hy9h I'm glad it helped!
Cool seeing Wurzburg in one of the operations. I lived there as a child (us civilians) during the Cold War (81-83).
The way you broke down the video and the general video production is amazing. Insta sub
@mattwallace963 Thank you! I hope it was useful
I love your reviews and the respect for our time. After a couple of minutes, I know if I am interested in learning more or not. I like the RTS genre so I watched all the way through this one. Thanks!
@danspencer4235 you are very welcome, I hope it was useful! Will you be considering Warno when the next sale comes up?
@@twiglets2 I have never played a game from that studio, and it looks like I might be facing a steep learning curve. So I'm not sure when, but I think I would like it once I got the basics down so I will likely get it at some point.
@@danspencer4235 Yes you're right, there is a bit of a learning curve in there, though not huge. You could always consider picking up Normandy 44 in a sale as it would be far far cheaper but with similar mechanics to give you a feel for the formula. Or Wargame Red Dragon if you're not too keen on WW2 and prefer something in the cold war!
very good review. it flows is slow enough to understand and fast enough to not get bored.
@nepocrates That's exactly what I was aiming for! Hope it was useful
@@twiglets2 it was and I grew up in the 70s and 80s so the cold war is always interesting to me. I will get it as a late christmas present for myself.
cold war setting is the reason why I am getting this game not the otherway around
Loving the content!!
Great video, been playing red dragon with a friend for a month now. We got steel division on sale and got refubds. Steel division did not feel as good as red dragon. Warno looks to have achieved a balance between the 2 and we are about to begin playing it.
@Targ100 That's interesting to hear. I have a feeling you will enjoy Warno but just bear mind that it doesn't have anywhere near as much content or mods as red dragon, but they keep adding more all the time!
There were a number of improvements that we did like, but it overall felt significantly less, I want to say polished but it isnt right on. Unit models felt ugly, the maps looking through didnt seem fun, the phasing felt like a wierd mechanic. It certainly plays like the games before it but just a little off. We've been watching some Warno stuff for a while and new it was different a bit...SD2 was on sale though so we figured we'd try it
@@Targ100 fair play giving it a try. If it helps Warno is a good looking game. It's not often games feel like a step up in graphics these days but I'd say Warno does enough in that department
@@Targ100 Yeah i have the same opinion coming from RD. Didn't like the changes in SD, can't tell you exactly why but it felt a lot worse imo (most of the time ended up in a spamfest from my experience). Was hoping Warno was a balance but it still doesn't feel as good as Wargame RD does but i have played a lot of RD. I couldn't care less about graphics as long as i can tell what's going on whilst i feel Warno went overboard and sometimes obscures the screen with smoke effects ect. and it's harder to tell what's happening at a glance but again it probably has something to do with my lack of experience compared to RD.
I just wanted a Wargame Red dragon with the QOL improvements like queueing orders in deployment phase and LOS/Range indicator, plus a custom campaign option.
Great Review! I am still waiting for it to be fully released, I hope they add a DLC about China, which is about the tension in the East with the Blue and Red Dragon nations. African/Middle East campaigns and maps would also be good. But, I guess they're focusing on Europe for now. But that's fine, they can focus on some details, like more European nations and more and better units and models.
@apolakigamingandmore6376 I like how much potential this game has, I just hope they keep releasing the content to achieve it!
Can’t wait for NORTHAG expansion in the future
Bro, you make some nice videos. Real expertise here. You are not about to keep people around who are not interested, but build on the people who are. Great stuff!
@SpookySkeletons Thank you, I hope you found it useful!
I don't like it when videos try to trick me into watching the whole thing, so try not to do that myself!
@@twiglets2 Yeah man I really like the intro and how you present the video and what the topics are going to be about so people know what their getting into. Wish other CZcamsrs would do that more.
@@pood40o72 Thank you! I'll stick with it, people seem to be appreciating it so thanks for letting me know
Thank you very much for the review, top notch as always. Seems to be an amazing game, keeping an eye on it. Good day sir!
@a.bridges You sir are a great human being! As always thank you for your contribution :)
@@twiglets2 Hey, it's not something I read every day, thank you sir.
Hello, can you please also check out World in Conflict ? It's an older RTS and it has a pretty good campaign.
You might also try even older RTS (20 years +), Ground Control I and II. They have a similar style with a few different mechanics.
@cristinmarius Of course, I'm always happy to check out new (old) games, thanks for the tip!
It's fun, and has imbalances, and the AI could use a lot of work.
But still it's a dynamic and detailed experience. It's fun to use a deck you enjoy.
Excellent presentation, thank you. I can’t seem to spot the difference between this and Wargame? Seems identical? Like Regiments. Haven’t played SD but it looks about the same as that one too?
@maximillianschonhausen Thank you! There isn't much difference overall, they play very similarly. Warno is newer, so it looks better, is more expensive and has less content. But it does go on sale and is adding new content all the time. I haven't played much regiments though, worth a try?
@@twiglets2 Well I'd say Regiments is worth a try if you are really into this type of game and simply enjoy all of them, but I dare say it is so extremely similar to this one and Wargame that a blindtest will make it seriously difficult to tell which game is which. I chose regiments over this one on the roll of a dice really, they came out almost simultaneously. Perhaps nostalgia about Microprose too - I'm old enough to have fond memories of their earliest games.
Like this game, graphics are superior to Wargame (but as you noted in the presentation, more than 90% of the time all you see is icons anyway - a paradox and tragedy, I feel, with all these games, since the models are now so fantastic that they are truly worth more than just being icons, but the game logic makes it patently impossible). Storyline is much superior in the campaign of Regiments - they've made an effort for singleplayer. But gameplay, well - honestly couldn't point out the difference from what I saw here. There are decks the same way, types of decks the same way, same point systems - same. Content is still less in Regiments - less than I saw here and far less than Wargame. But it is also under development so more will be added I suppose.
A bit surprising with so many so extremely similar titles all in this very tight niche, wouldn't you say? With Regiments Wargame and this one all in the eighties too. I don't understand where they all see the money in it. But I guess I am happy that they do somehow.
@@maximillianschonhausen it's strange indeed, and it's a similar situation with the ww2 RTS space what with gates of hell Ostfront, company of heroes 3 and men of war 2.
After a relative dry spell I shan't complain! Thanks for the detail on regiments, very useful.
Warno is so great , in 10 vs 10 in multiplayer is hello, really coil
I love the multiplayer. I think at beginning it seems a bit hard but when you make your expirience it will be nice.
@Artakwa-Gaming definitely found it a challenge at first, and still plenty to learn, but I know enough to see why players like yourself enjoy the multiplayer. I think Warno has a great future!
does it have a sandbox mode?
a question. Do you only play big battles or is it possible to play small battles with like 2 tanks and 3 infantry groups?
@minerfox5208 Hmmmmm that is a good question. It's perfectly possible to only play with 2 tanks and 3 infantry groups for example, but the chances are you would lose as the opponent/s would be using more and there are several capture points to consider.
So unless I'm missing something the answer is yes, but you wouldn't want to. Someone else with more knowledge may need to chime in to confirm or correct!
@@twiglets2 what about if i put the cost limit for ai small so it cannot spawn more units?
@@minerfox5208 yeah I guess that would be possible
While WARNO may be good or bad and subject to personal preference, your review itself is definitely excellent and amazing, I've thoroughly enjoyed it!
@simonchoi973 Thank you! I hope it was useful :)
Yo i love the wargame red dragon , i would love to get warno but there is one really silly thing holding me back. The 'flame/fire' effects are too bright for my liking. Like the missiles or the artillery shells all look like literal fire balls. Is there a way to tone that down or change that? Also the smoke trails is also overdone..... Imo atleast
There’s unit scaling idk if it affects the shells but it affects the smoke
@@thechugger6075 hmm if someone can confirm this that would be nice
The music makes it so worth it, goes so hard
@lonely_ghost7144 Hell yeah!
Thanks for the great video!
@oxxExtinctionXXO thank you for watching!
does this game have a sanbox mode/mod?
Warno is a great game. This and SD2 are must haves!
@masonmoore3473 Both are fantastic games! I do understand that those who prefer Wargame Red Dragon may not be willing to pay out for Warno at the moment, but it's headed in the right direction.
Great video, really captures the ups and downs of the game
@brandonganz190 thank you! I hope it was useful
if you are waiting for broken arrow or task force admiral it is a good one to kill time. But there are also other game to choose from
@markswang8987 which games would you recommend?
@@twiglets2 combat mission I call it the ultimate time killer.
I love the way Eugen Systems RTSes are designed compared to traditional RTSes. I really hope they(or someone just making a very similar type of RTS) make a fantasy or sci-fi RTS someday so that their design space is not restricted by realism, that could be such a fantastic exploration of the genre.
@Mightfox That sounds like an awesome idea!
Didn't know this game existed until Broken Arrow came out. It appears this game is similar. Concerned that this game is still in early access on Steam after a few years out. Should that be a concern? Seems like with newer games just like it coming out soon, it will be left behind.
@wolfevickery6081 it was a problem but Warno recently released its dynamic campaign which has been well received. However it's still likely broken arrow will be better, or at least that's the sentiment at the moment
I have enjoyed World in Conflict, will I enjoy this?
Nice, been waiting for this
Short honest openion, from someone who play warno since day 1, game greatly improved, totaly worth it
@capuaniandrea Thanks for sharing sir!
I'd advise you to take those 60sec tldr and put them on as YT shorts
Looks like finally a good replacement for the blocky and completely outdated Combat Mission. Is the environment (like buildings) destructible ? Also is there physics like chances of ricochet on angled armor, etc.?
The multiplayer feature will be the absolute fun!!
I've got 5 hours in game so far and yes to both of your questions. I've seen shells ricochet off of armor, but I think that's more of a matter of calculating the power of a cannon compared to the armor, not physics. Buildings can be destroyed, and forests can be burned or flattened. However, I don't think bridges can be destroyed, which is sad.
liked and subbed for the tldr good stuff
@user-ed9ku1dr3i Thank you, I'll keep using it then!
Good analysis amd grest video earned a sub from me
@hsundthhzthn985 Thank you! Any other games you would like to see this kind of analysis on?
A small correction: It's M1 IP (*Improved Performance*), not M1 1P
@peaceoutbruh7085 How ironic I used it in the "you need to know the difference" section, thanks for the correction!
It would really be cool if eugen made a rts like this set in the 2000s
Agreed!
Incredible Humanistic Art
Wonderful Comfort
Beautiful Detailed Game
And Fun
Great Creative Tool for Enjoying Military Culture
Ofcourse not Perfect
But It’s so Inspiring
Got to this video after looking at SD2. Normally I prefer a WW2 setting over modern but this does look good. Will take a look at Broken Arrow two. Warno sure seems worth a closer look though, certainly appeals more than Wargame.
It would be nice to find something that is less frantic than most RTS games though the Eugen Games look to be less frantic than say CoH though. Trouble is though, less frantic tends to push you towards hex which I can’t stand.
I’m still torn between SD2 or Graviteam. The thing that turns me off MIUS though is the overly complicated and poorly explained UI.
@Edward-Plantagenet Hmmm yes that's a difficult one! I would say SD2 over Graviteam but SD2 is best played against human opponents online which is all rather frantic.
Have you ever played Hearts of Iron 4? Worth a look if you haven't before.
@@twiglets2 I haven’t. Haven’t actually been on the pc gaming scene for years but I’ve just replaced an old MacBook and rather than replace it with a $1,000 machine that can’t play (most) games I decided on a Windows machine that can. So I’m just in the research stage at the moment. I’ll likely give WARNO and SD2 a try though as I’m def not into hex, pure strategy, Civ for WW2 or anything that doesn’t have RT 3D battle resolution. So far I think that pares it down to the games I mentioned and Combat Mission.
@@Edward-Plantagenet Yes absolutely. Welcome back to the PC gaming world!
Play the WWII ones first, you get used to the speed and convenience of jets and choppers.
This video is great! But we need an updated version for v1.0
@sc0nes It's on the way!
I have never played any of these types of games. Only played Company of heroes. Is this game hard for a noob and what are the alternatives that are set in the same era?
@Hardcore6166 it's hard at first as attacking is especially brutal, your heavy tanks will get slaughtered because you didn't do it right. But once you realise how to use your units effectively it's a rewarding game indeed!
The older version of this game is War Game Red Dragon. It's cheap due to its age but worth a try if you're unsure due to the low cost in a sale.
Broke Arrow is a promising looking alternative that seems to be better received than Warno, so worth looking into that too.
Personally I love steel division 2, but that's ww2 based...
@@twiglets2 wow I did not expect the answer.. 😅Thank you so much for taking your time to write this! I have seen the broken arrow, so I was looking for something while that gets out. Thank you once more and the video is excellent! Top tear!
I'm waiting for the dynamic campaign
@johnmascardo7047 fingers crossed we will get one in 2024!
I do remember thinking this game looks awesome and that it’d become my RTS de jour, but then I found it had that CONSTANT klaxon sound go off every time an enemy plane flew into detection….and there was no way to turn it off…the brilliant game became a hard pass….so disappointed.
Anyone know if this has been fixed (or is modable to be turned off?
Pretty sure you can find it in sound files and change it with any other sound you wish
@thedudeabides3138 It's a shame that one sound puts you off the game but each to their own! Now when I play the game I bet it's going to be very noticeable!
is there a slo-mo mode like in Gates of Hell?
@raidermaxx2324 not that I'm aware of!
You can reduce speed in Single player. Slowest time is bullet time. You cant reduce speed in Multiplayer and coop though.
6:50 M ONE "I" (the letter) P
M1IP aka M1 Improved
What about Broken Arrow? The developer of Broken Arrow hints at something coming Jan '24.
@Tonylovesjazz Looking forward to it! We're fortunate to have such a selection of games int his genre
lowk i might be dyslexic cos i thought the title said WANO as in one piece, imagine my suprise when i saw a flying Jet
Eugene should have just made a War Game Red Dragon remaster and add more content to it, expand it with Army General, a better deck builder and much more. Broken Arrows open beta allowed so much in different approaches in how to play that warno just comes short in every aspect. Also Eugene is making warno a dlc milk machine for absurd prices.
@makeshiftgamer6909 it will be interesting to see how many faction are released in the base game of Broken Arrow compared to Warno, and what they try to sell as dlc!
I'd wait for a sale or until the army general's campaigns come out. Right now, there's like 7 or 8 single player missions, 1vCpu, or multiplayer. It's definitely not worth $40 yet. Army General's has been overdue for more than a year now. It's honestly kind of ridiculous how long it's taking.
@kadesh111 I hope it's worth the wait in the end!
@@twiglets2 me too. I think it will be, I just hope they don't release the initial AG campaigns as an additional paid DLC.
Upvoted just for the TLDR/BLUF
@skunkjulio Thanks!
Wow ! Nice one !!!
@stephanhernandez897 Thanks!
Yo this game reminds me of Steel Division, btw Steel Division is fire, Just that Warno is WW3 instead of WW2
@ricardoperez8444 they are made by the same developer, so very similar!
Took me a while to get used to it but it’s a very good game
@GivememoneyUA Can't wait for the army general campaign!
Wish these games could record in-game and after the match we could have the combat cinematicly play out like a movie of the whole battle. But just with the removal of all the u.i.
@dankweedaliday420 That would be so cool - I spend most of my time zoomed right out so it's a shame to miss all the detailed action, especially since it's a good looking game!
Replays are a thing in Wargame RD so if its not already in Warno im sure they will add it eventually. though it requires you to make your own cinematic shots but it's still epic.
@@twiglets2 this is already a feature of warno. look into the replay.
But can I swarm the field with police pressed into service as soldiers?
The game is World in Conflict meets Red Dragon.
Really love this game( also play AOE 4 like in the videos say). I feel the multyplayer side of this game is really tense, even more than AOE so if you into that kind of brain smashing then come right in. For me persernally, i find my time roleplaying steell division 2 as a general to be really fun so im waiting for the dynamic general campain to dive fully into the game
@gokudo-cf5pt I'm glad you found the AoE reference appropriate, I think it's a good fit for AoE players.
Can't wait for the dynamic campaign, I think it will make Warno well rounded and hope the player numbers really take off after that. The multiplayer is fun but could do with a few more players to make it easier to find the right kind of match.
great review! now i don't have to watch other vids and can just buy the game.
@xilllllix Glad to be of service!
Everything seems to move crazy fast in this. I don't think that blindly charging into places with your throttle floored is the way that wars are usually fought.
@Wimbold if playing single player you can control the speed / pause, but on multiplayer there is a set speed. If in this game you were to charge in you will lose every time. Although quite frantic this game rewards strategy every time over charging in and trying to overwhelm
The only concern I have about this game is that I haven't yet understood if it's a RTS or an ant colony simulator.... ( IMHO units movement speed is insane )
@RobertMolders You can slow them down if that helps?!
Shouldn't it be Waryes?
@Reapee-ml6ly What is it good for?!
Yes, the answer is yes
@sarahrichards1281 I second this yes
So essentially it's Tom clancy endwar but with more options and access to fixed wing aircraft and supply vics. And with the campaign its again like endwar where it gets harder the longer the campaign
@malusdarkblade1190 I haven't played tom Clancy end war but I've heard others make the comparison before
@twiglets2 it was good years ago this seems more in depth just had a look at vid as it's on sale at moment
As someone who's put hundreds of hours into warno in the last 4 months I can say it is unlike any other war game and or RTS I've played. Yes it resembles steel division blatantly but what is offered in game is far more in depth than SD2 ever has been. Between that and the next gen Graphics and physics engine it's hard to deny its presence in the ranks of rts. Now one thing that bugs me is WARNO does not know what year it wants to be set in as they have a mix of 60s tech being used alongside late 80s tech. Even some of the Russian and German units have late 50s vehicles and artillery which you could argue isn't as important as let's say a tabk or jet but even those feel old in some fights. My hopes are that they don't stay attached solely to this time period as I think maybe divying them in period correct classes would solve alot of issues players have with OP and underpowered units. For ex. Having a T-80BVK which is a full blow Main battle tank from the mid to late 80s meanwhile you have to fight that with tanks from the late 60s and early 70s. The competition is one sided and for those who find the exploit it will make games easy
@chrisb.banick6720 I'm confident about the game's future. They need to make some good decisions going forward, success it within their grasp with a few more decent updates!
@twiglets2 yes they have hit a nail on the coffin but now they need to finish the job. I see some updates coming on steam so hopefully they get back into providing more for the game like they did during launch.
Warno is a great sandbox game, where your little green army men of childhood has been upgraded to flashy and wonderfully explosive 3d
@bradleybergen480 What a great way to describe it!

In the 80's I served in the Dutch army! With the ready troops in West Germany! 103 Verk Bat SSV! Collaborated a lot with all the NATO troops who were there at the time were stationed. Love the atmosphere, units and troops in this game! It all looks familiar! And can't wait to finally kick the Russians' ass! LOL! Then practical and a lot on paper! Trained for years! Now via the PC! But better wait until the game is completely finished! And then it is released. After waiting 2 years, that one year can still be added! This is definitely on my wishlist in the Steamstore!
whats the difference between this and "Regiments" ?
In this one you really micro your individual tank and unit, in regiment its more about tacitcal postiioning and timing, you dont have as much individual control over the unit.
Also the campaigns will be quite different. Regiments has scripted missions, between which you tinker your arsenal, WARNO will have a grand campaign map, with skirmish battles when forces meet on the map. It has a few single scripted missions aswell (8 of them so far) but they are not linked.
they put a lot of work in such a niche game, I would be completely happy if they just updated and add new content and campaigns to good old red dragon
@marcinsobczak2485 I do wonder whether many red dragon players will bother moving to Warno, maybe in the future when there's more content but it's buying a whole new game!
For now it just seems that you have to pay again for having less things even if a thing or two of the new ones are nice. Automatic artillery counterfire is dogshit though.@@twiglets2
its a fantastic game
@dr.fistus94 sure is! Any advice for new players??
not really. play against AI, ramp up the difficulty, try the scenarios, play online , get your head bashed in, learn. There is a good subreddit for it r/warno@@twiglets2
Waiting to buy when the campaigns come out, i suck at Eugen multiplayer lol
@One_Call_System Yup I know that feeling! They haven't given a timescale yet, unless they mentioned it recently but I'm hopeful it will be early 2024!
It's just funny that the steam trailer of the game is just showing off that they got tutorials now
@trbd when I tried the tutorials one of them simply didn't work because they changed the stats of a particular unit, making it near impossible to complete the tutorial!
What broke this and other wargame .. games for me is a lack of REAL maps. Yeah, balancing I get it, but what's a point of WW3 sim without fighting over Moscow and New-York. )
@crafty_badger It's an interesting point! I wonder if mods are the answer?
To understand this period in military history you have to realise that tactical nuclear weapons were so nice that their blast radius was about the same as their range. It makes those in the army at the time laugh still from what I can tell. Edit: How well does it portray tactics? Russian tactics today of static warfare and numbers are pretty much what the soviets used (They had overwhelming firepower in Europe.) and America has modified but maintains to a large degree Air-Land battle and manoeuvre warfare (See Gulf-War (1991) and Iraq War (2003).).
Wargame Red Dragons fan boys will tell you it's shit, because it's not a copy of their beloved game, but don't listen to those cave dwellers too much.
It's true that it was released into Early Access too early, but now the game is almost complete (only the single player campaign is missing, but it will be released soon, Alpha testers are already playing it).
Today, the game is very fun, the player count is increasing, and you don't have to wait too much for a good 10v10 to start (Between 2 to 5 mins in CET).
One thing that wasn't mentioning in the video, but I think need to be said, this is a RTS, not a simulation. The game is a good mix between immersion and balancing.
WARNO? MORE LIKE WAR-YES!!!
@dr.poopoohead5871 Gotta say, that did make me chuckle!
honestly alone it gives lot of fun but with friends it gives 10 times more fun
Ive started to get into battallion level RTS games. I used to play graviteam tactics games and loved them. I bought Command: Modern Operations which is an operation level, combined arms, RTS and its amazing. But I want an RTS at battallion level
I have Wargame and Steel Division 2 but havent played them that much. Warno looks good so I think I shall invest, even if hough Early Access tends to put me off
@s3any1977 I know what you mean about early access being a put off. Another game worth checking out if you haven't already is Regiments. I haven't played it much beyond a free beta myself but it seems a popular (and cheaper) alternative to Warno.
I've always been meaning to try Graviteam games but haven't gotten round to it. The UI sounds intimidating!
yeah is a good game sad that i cant invest the time to learn and master it
@darkbut8864 yeah this one is definitely a time pit
I love the concept of this video.
@AntiDude I hope it was useful!
Yes steel division 2 but cold war grand scale ww3 edition
@nazmaster1 I've never heard of that! Guess it's a mod?
I have a love-hate relationship with warno. Whenever I try to snipe an enemy command unit with artillery (and recon), I always miss. But whenever the enemy randomly fires their arty, they destroy my unit in one hit. 😂 same with AA... maybe I'm just bad. No no no that can't be true
@mansuraliagaev4092 that's fair enough! I have a memory of someone saying the AI in steel division 2 essentially cheats as it knows where your units are when it shouldn't be able to. If I remember that correctly then it could be the same in Warno....we're doomed!
@@twiglets2 It is a common and understandable misconception. The AI does not know about units it has not seen or which never fired at it, but it has perfect memory and near-instantaneous reaction all over the map. When your artillery (or any other unit) is randomly spotted for a split second by a recon unit or fires even once, it is marked and will get counterbatteried, and no human player can match that. Couple that with the AI's love for artillery and it can get oppressive very quickly, the best you can do is to move your own units a lot and push them hard enough so that they cannot bombard you to death.
can you play this with controller on pc?
An alien invasion DLC would be interesting.
As an undecided, this doesn't really answer the questions I'm wondering about. Is it ultimately a thoughtful battlefield strategy game? or a manoeuvre & tactics game? Or a rock-paper-scissors game? or a rapid micromanagement game? is the AI actually any good in single player (unlike in every other Eugen game)? Is there or will there ever be a proper single player campaign like back in the days of Wargame? How realistic is it? e.g. Does it take game days to get infantry out of entrenched positions, or game minutes? I loved the original Wargame games by Eugen, but can't stand the PVP focused deckbuilding and micromanagement of Steel Division. Is it for me? Still not sure after this review.
@CountDadLord The easy answer is no, it's not for you, based on your stated preferences.
As I mentioned it's a hotkey centric RTS such as company of heroes 2 or age of empires 2 more than a slow and thoughtful game, albeit you can pause the action when playing against the ai. I appreciate that's of limited use if you haven't played those games. It's a slight evolution over wargame red dragon, again, if you've played that before.
Thanks. Shame though. I dream that one day someone will build a modern setting version of Ultimate General: Civil War @@twiglets2 👍
Oh boy that game is to deep and complex for me.
Yes. Sooner or later your country will be in the game. And its the only game that will put your country in.
I like most, am tired of playing Muricans vs Soviet Russia in every game.
@dnaseb9214 Absolutely, Warno has a bright future!
eugen has a great track record of inculding kinda forgotten countries in SD2, like the polish, czech, bulgarian, yugoslavian, italian divisions, and units from other countries still like belgium
@@karlfranz3819
if it wasnt for SD2 I would have never known that Brezil and South Africa participated
@@dnaseb9214 wait. Brazilians are in SD2? which division? I don't remember em at all
@@karlfranz3819
Its entire Brazilian division. From the Tribute to the liberation of Italy
İt is a good game slightly worse than Wargame: Red Dragon. I was hoping they would add more naval assets and more regions but so far it is Wargame Airland Battle equivalent.
@darkrevenger6 Do you think it will improve and catch up with red dragon in the future?
it won't have any navy i think, like 75% of the community straight up despised that in WGRD, and 10% didn't really care for it. so i doubt it's coming back.
i'm hopeful since it's still early access for new content and nations to come out. especially seeing how good SD2 is getting (yes, with a lot of DLCs, but they are not required to enjoy the experience, so the base game and FLC divisions are plenty enough)
I hope so @@twiglets2
@@karlfranz3819 I'm not a SD2 expert but looking at how much content there is for that game makes me excited for Warno. Game modes that could be transferred over and the sheer amount of content, they'll get there eventually!
11:28 Lol. Warno is almost exclusively played in multiplayer, barely anyone ever plays against AI.
@MajinOthinus There weren't many players online whenever I looked, or is it about finding the right time of day?
@@twiglets2 The peak player numbers directly after the update or on weekends are ~2000.
This may seem few and indeed it isn't a lot, but even so, the vast majority of those will play multiplayer. Barely anyone plays against AI outside of completing the pre scripted missions, both because playing against players is way more fulfilling and because Eugen's AI cheats.
This may change with the introduction of the army general mode, but I doubt that it will make a huge difference. Fundamentally, all the pre scripted stuff (even including the army general mode) has little replayability and the AI is both too dumb and too omniscient to be worth playing against outside that environment.
It's very similar to, if slightly better than, Wargame in that sense and in player distribution between modes.
@@MajinOthinus interesting! I enjoy playing against the AI but I do see how more regular players would prefer the challenge of a real opponent, and Warno appears to be very well suited to letting players duke it out. It reminds me of age of empires 2 for some reason, the intense 1v1 combat I suppose.
I'll stick too HOI4 and End War
@AussieStandsWithRussia Hmm end war? Not heard of that before. Is it worth a try if I enjoy hoi4?
@@twiglets2 Tom Clancy's End war is pretty old but worth looking at. A real nail biter
I’ll earnestly check out endwar if you give a Eugen game a real shot. They’re worth playing, and I think they’re making the genre better
@@xxelaxela333 done deal
Honestly Im not buying WARNO until they add more Warsaw Pact nations like Czechoslovakia or Poland.
@daoss4620 The developer has a good history of adding more and more nations to their other games such as Steel Division 2 so I'm hopeful other nations will head to Warno before long!
i prefer broken arrow . enjoying the beta more like i ever did in any eugene , in fact didnt like a modern war rts like this since coh1 and world in conflict and supcom days and rome2
@LauftFafa this is not the first time someone has mentioned broken arrow, I'd be interested to hear what it is you enjoy about that game, seems like a good alternative to Warno
@@twiglets2 it blend the beauty of world in conflict and bringe ambitious large maps with big cities and depots and airports and industrial zones and such . its atmospheric too like have some maps with ambient weather and light snow and fog etc .
game play is more micro like you can do lot with 1 unite and its less streamlined than warno at that . like you can actually have times to to react and flee and flank and such with one unite all while its firing or taking fire and not suppressed .
it still have some balance issue and performance issues but the devs insist its gonna be polished and that we are only stress testing multiplayer so for now we can ignore the few flaws we did find .
one thing it do also bring is an editor like arma3 one where you can create whole campaign missions or skirmish missions in those massive maps and enjoy narratives and add audio and videos to it .
@@LauftFafa the editor in particular sounds awesome, thanks for sharing!
Great game but as someone who loves Skirmish and SP I must say AI is absolute garbage always was Eugen games since Wargame, and SD. It's like that either your ally is brain dead and doesn't do anything, or AI is hyper aggressive, or it's reversed when ally is too aggressive and enemy too passive.
AI is cheating by a lot, you can't leave your units inside the city for long once you're spotted AI will remember that location and bomb to shit from miles away.
Otherwise it's a fantastic game I love their games but they really need to work on AI that's why I got frustrated and never played Campaign even.
@CapybaraConnoisseur89 It's interesting as I've heard this a lot from those who prefer the multiplayer aspect and generally think the ai is crap. It's a shame really!
@@twiglets2 yeah unfortunately it's a bad part of it, WARNO is definitely great game best sound design I've heard so far in military strategy, but Broken Arrow was also great speaking from demo experience.
@@CapybaraConnoisseur89 can't argue with the stonking 80s soundtrack of Warno either
