It's a sad that was in 1944 in Warsaw now it's the same in Ukraine. It's a sad that Germany they stlll make Big business with Russia. United Kingdom Poland help much to Ukraine but West ( Germany or another countries) they to help too not much :(

My great-grandfather was murdered in Katyn. He was an officer of the Polish army and took part in the defensive war in September 1939. He was taken prisoner. Like the rest of those murdered in Katyn, he was an officer and a prisoner of war. The Russians knew perfectly well what they were doing, they deliberately wanted to destroy the Polish intelligentsia. They murdered Polish officers by tying their hands with wire and shooting them in the back of the head. Then they were buried in mass graves.
It was not just 22k Poles. It was 22k polish officers, doctors, teachers and other from polish inteligents. The most educated part of poles.

My ancestors died in this uprising. They were of the geman decent (prussian Germans), but had been living in Poland for quite a while. They felt themselves like a part of the Polish society. They fought in 1944 against the German Nazis and all died. Long life Poland! That's the country, which always has been on the bright side of history! 💚 🇵🇱
There were sometimes such few cases, indeed, of people who lived in Poland for years and who felt themselves Polish and chose to be Polish, not Germans (especially seeing what Germans did to Poland and Polish). After all Polish is someone who has Poland in his heart. Another such example is Józef Unrug (originally his name was: Joseph von Unruh). And also the branch of the Habsburg family who lived in Żywiec (a town in the South of Poland) - Archduke Karl Albrecht of Austria Habsburg with his wife Alice Habsburg (coming from a Swedish family Arnkarcrona) and their children, who chose to be Polish and to oppose to Germans, who fought for Poland, who spoke Polish (Archduke was even arrested and tortured, beaten by Gestapo). Information about them are also available in Internet in English.

The Archduke left the Gestapo prison half paralyzed and blind on one eye. And in the same time his wife, Alice joined the resistance movement and was helping the Polish Home Army. After the war, they had to leave Poland, because of the communists. They couldn't come back. But their daughter, Princess Maria Christina Habsburg, who for all these years of emigration loved Poland and spoke Polish perfectly, came back to Poland, to Żywiec in 1993. She was already an old women, on a wheelchair, she never got married and had no children, but she had very good memory and there were a lot of interesting interviews with her. She received a flat from the municipality within the former palace. She was a very humble lady. She died in Żywiec in 2012. I saw her few times, in the church. People have very good memories about her and her parents (also her brother fought during the war as a Polish soldier in the I Armoured Division of General Stanisław Maczek). Her family received state decorations from Polish President. I've read two good books about them (but I don't know if there's an English translation).
This video is very personal to me, because the story of Warsaw Uprising is basically what's converted me from being a typical “Russian side of story believer” which is taught to anyone in Russian schools, to a complete regime opposition and putin hater. In Russian schools, we were not taught about Soviet Union invading Poland alongside with Germany, same as we were not taught about how Soviets did Poland dirty during Warsaw Uprising. In Russian schools, history of WW2 basically starts from the moment when Nazi Germany invading Soviet Union, not from 1939 as everybody else taught in schools. So when EURO-2012 came along, i was very surprised and confused by hatereed from Polish football fans towards Russian fans, where very hostile and brutal fan fights were taking place. But at the same time, i started to listen a lot of heavy metal which is including bands like Sabaton, who has song called “Uprising” which is turned to be my favorite, after listen to which i started to learn history myself through internet, not through Russian books and school propaganda. And i find out how bad, cruel and injustice Soviets were towards people of Poland and how many times they made them dirty and i'm not talking about WW2 only.
The regime which soviets forced on Poland did nothing good for Polish people and existed solely on brute force and support from Soviets and they have a lot of Polish blood on their hands, especially murder of Jerzy Popiełuszko. I personally think that murder of Jerzy Popiełuszko was the downfall of communist regime in Poland and downfall of Soviet Union after all and now murder of Alexei Navalny will be a downfall of putin and current Russian regime. But coming back to Sabaton Uprising song, which was the first domino that makes me question my previous beliefs, i can now understand why Soviets ban everything western - songs, bands, movies and books, because if people had access to them, it will make them question a lot of things like it happened to me. If not my passion for heavy metal, i might be not in Russian Volunteer Corps fighting on Ukraine side right now, but serving in the orcs army instead. I would be happy if you reacted to a “SABATON - Uprising (OFFICIAL LIVE)” video from youtube, which were recorded at Polish «Woodstock Festival» in 2012 and changed my perspective about Poland and my whole personal beliefs completely. Now i have nothing but respect towards Poland. Great video, love your reactions!

Poland has so many times in history been brutalized from east and west. But out of the ugliness of oppression comes forth the beauty of their culture. You have to love a country whose 3rd prime minister, and a founding father, was a legendary concert pianist.
And the Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra is one of my favorites.
Poland has been the homeland of Chopin, Rubinstein, Huberman and so many, many great classical musicians. I love them.

Sometimes I don't have the energy to explain it anymore, but I'll try again. Not Nazis, just Germans. On a tram in Warsaw it was written "nur für deutshe" not "nur für nazi". And in the anthem they sang "Deutschland uber alles" not "naziland uber alles". In stores they paid with Deutsche Mark, not Nazi Mark. I know that in Western Europe political correctness has reached the point of absurdity, but let's stick to the facts.
Yes. And it's a term that Germans introduced to whitewash their responsibility and to play on people's ignorance about history. Saying these were some "Nazis" they they even say nowadays that they were victims of war, fighting against Hitler. Which is an enormous lie, because Hitler was democratically elected, the vast majority of their society supported him voluntarily and profitef from the war in many ways (they even received clothes and other items taken from the victims being murdered in gas chambers). And at the same time the term "Polish concentration camps" appears in various foreign media, again and again (despite our diplomacy's official protests, saying it's a huge manipulation of history). So it shouldn't be "Nazis", but Germans.
The Warsaw Uprising started on 1st August at 5 p.m. So every year, to commemorate this, on 1st August at 5 p.m. the whole Poland stops for a minute. The alarm sirens in the whole country are activated at this hour. And in the evening there's an annual concert in Warsaw, when the artist, together with people of Warsaw, are singing the songs that were written and sung by the insurgants during the Warsaw Uprising. It's really touching. The songs show very good the spirit of the fighting Poland. It's worth seeing (You can find it for sure in Internet). The animated video doesn't show how the reality of the Warsaw Uprising looked liked. So You should look in Internet also for some authentic photos and films from that time (there's many of them available) - You should see it, to understand how it was. And when You will visit Warsaw, please do not forget to vist the Warsaw Uprising Museum. It's a modern, interactive museum, very interesting, really worth visiting, definitely a must-see in Warsaw.

It is sad that Germany never paid war reparations for its crimes. Their museums are full of Polish works of art.
This happened because Poland was the loser in this war.
This is also sad because theoretically we were on the winning side of the Allies. The theoretical losers of Germany gained freedom after the war.
Most war criminals led peaceful lives and were never convicted. Germany itself received a huge financial injection for reconstruction from the Marshall Plan. This is where their great wealth today comes from.
Poland was completely destroyed, every fifth person was murdered, including a large part of the intelligentsia. Most patriots who should have rebuilt the country never returned. They knew that when they returned, they would face a death sentence at the hands of the Soviets.
Instead of helping Poland after the war, it continued to be robbed. Communism made us the poorest country in Europe in the 1970s and 1980s. The only thing available at the grocery store was vinegar.
35 years have passed since the end of the war, and Poland has not yet recovered. It will probably take another dozen or so years. Unless the war reaches our door sooner... Hopefully not
The soviets were on the other side of the river (Praga quarter) and whoever comes from or to uprising side of the city, was halted, imprisoned, tortured and murdered.
Praga was finaly captured by Red and Polish army on 14th of September 1944. In August Wehrmacht and SS troops launched strong counter-attack and halted Soviet forces in bloody panzer battle of Wolomin and Radzymin.

You will see with your own eyes how the entire city stops (people, vehicles, offices, workplaces) at 5 p.m. when the sirens start to howl to honor the memory of our insurgents. I also recommend visiting the Warsaw Uprising Museum.

BTW rebuilding Warsaw was much more expensive than just building new capital for Poland. Anyway we decided to do it and literally whole nation was involved in this project.
All hospitals in Warsaw were exterminated by Hitler's forces. About 30000 people were executed ( sick, wounded, doctors and nurses ). The only exception was hospital on Senatorska street. This hospital cured also some wounded German soldiers, so when SS unit entered the hospital to kill Polish personnel and patients, these Germans stopped them and told them they are treated very well with utmost care.

On 23rd of August a non-agression treaty was signed in Moscow by foreign ministers of III Reich (Ribbentrop) and Soviet Union (Molotov). It contained also an additional secret protocol regarding zones of influence in so called "buffer states" (Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania). Poland was to be split between III Reich and Soviet Union. It is called 4th partition of Poland. Soviet invasion was imminent in September 1939. It happened on 17th when Polish army was already defeated and only few units survived in south - east. Poland would collapse finally in a matter of week or two, even without Soviet attack.

In case of Germans during the II World War, it was not like this that these were only leaders or members of the NSDAP party responsible. Because Hitler was elected democratically, the vast majority of Germans were supporting him all the time, he was admired and worshipped by them for what he was doing. You can see it very well in the authentic films from that times, e.g. when Hitler had speeches to the crowds, they were ecstatic about him, treating him like some kind of celebrity - the women even crying because of joy to see him, waving, shouting ecstatic support etc. And the whole German society, ordinary people, profited a lot from the war. They were receiving even the things of the victims murdered (and were aware of this), they were using slave workers etc. Also many German companies, still existing, profited a lot on war, they had contracts with the death concentration camps etc. So these were for sure not only the leaders, and not some "Nazis", but Germans, the German nation and their state. And the term "Nazi" started to be used, instead of "Germans", not so many years ago. Earlier everyone were saying, in accordance with the truth, just "Germans". In Poland people say "Germans", not some "Nazis". The term "Nazis" is used to whitewash Germans responsibility for the war and its atrocities, basing on the ignorance of many people nowadays about history. And at the same time, in the media worldwide suddenly started to appear the term "Polish concentration camps" - suggesting to ignorant people that these were Polish death camps, not German (created by Germans, where the Germans murdered people, on Polish lands that were under their control, under German occupation then). Polish authorities, foreign Ministry and diplomacy officially protest about using such untrue terms, about such huge manipulation, but it unfortunately repeats (also for instance in some American newspapers). It's so enormously unjust. And also about Russians, as we can see also nowadays, it's not about leaders only, but unfortunately the majority of the society is brainwashed and they support Putin, wanting the come back of the imperialistic Russia, supporting war and threats to the others, even accepting genocide.
There's a song by swedish band sabaton - uprising. It's about this uprising. I recomend watching it especially their performance in Poland at woodstock. Something a little different from what you usually watch, but still, public reaction at the concert is something worth seeing. (they also have few other songs about polish history, also performed at the same concert 40:1 also worth seeing if you want to make longer video) cheers!

I do really like way of your thinking and what observations and comments you make. Maybe I am biased because I am polish and obviously I admire when some are understanding our narration and feel in the way we see it. But I believe that truth is on our side and it makes me happy seeing people that are non polish and independent in their judgement and still see tragedy and unjustice that our country went through. It makes me believe that we are right about ours regrets and we do not victim play us but we are just being honest about our feeling about history. Stay well guys and all the best for you !
There is a town, Oborniki Śląskie, there are houses there named after the districts of Warsaw where orphan children from Warsaw were gathered after the war.

We start to celebrate Easter in Poland. The feast will last up till Easter Monday, which is a day free of work in Poland. We have a lot of nice Easter traditions and customs. For instance tomorrow we go to church with a basket filled traditionally with some food (bread, sausages or other meat, salt, boiled eggs that shells are coloured and horseradish) and they are blessed by a priest in church. And on Easter Sunday we start the Easter breakfast with sharing this blessed food with each other, together with saying good wishes. And there are many other Easter traditions and good Easter dishes in Poland. It's a really nice time. So we wish also to You both - happy, blessed, joyful Easter (Wesołych Świąt Wielkanocnych). 🐣🐥🐇
There was a pact ribbentrop-molotov between hitler and stalin signed on augus 26 th 1939 just before the winvasion by wehrmacht started (1st sepember). The secret note in this pact provided partition of poland between germany and the soviet unoon

Some comments on Soviet actions in Warsaw after 14th September. Three bridgeheads formed by Polish 1st Army on left bank of Vistula river cost lives of more than 3000 soldiers ( not 1000 ) with about one-third drowned in the river. In fact Rokossowski wanted to seize the city from the largest Czerniakow bridgehead and some units from Czujkov's army ( elite troops with experience in street fighting in Stalingrad ) were already ordered to cross the river but unfortunately on the previous day the bridgehead was exterminated by German forces ( only a couple of Poles managed to escape across the river ).
During Warsaw Uprising only about 30% of Hitler's forces were ethnic Germans ( mostly SS troops and police units ). The rest consisted of Russians, Ukrainians, Azeris and many others. Azeris were the most feared due to their exceptional cruelty.
Two huge American USAAF air raids were of little significance as they took place when area controlled by Poles was already very limited and most of supplies fell into German hands. Much more significant were numerous Allied missions from Brindisi area in southern Italy. One of largest groups ( probably the largest ) of these very brave pilots were South Africans from SAAF or attached to some RAF bomber crews. In Warsaw there are some big memorial stones or plates with specified names of these South African heroes.

Watch "City 44" it is about upraising. And what Germans did to us... And many of them just tell us "oh it was long time ago, don't make fuss about it" My grandmother will be 91in May. Tell that to her Germans.
Rudolf Höss commandant in Auschwitz after communist court sentenced him for death and before execution wrote memories where he described his feelings about Auschwitz. He said that he knew what he was doing and he knew that it was bad. But he pretended a tough man, a man with no soul with no mercy. So we can say now that they (German)rather knew what they were doing. And it’s should be honest and said that German made from the people of Warsaw a shield not for a first time. They did exactly the same in 1109 trying to conquer Polish town Głogów. For me this nation has something deep inside what is very dark and in some way constitute them. But this is only my opinion.

The other histirical created authentic footage from 1944 "Warsaw Uprising" (from 2014). You will feel the horror, and it is worth seeing before visiting Warsaw.

Whenever I think about the Warsaw Uprising, I am reminded of the poem by Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński with the Head on a Rifle, who was a member of the gray ranks and died during the Warsaw Uprising. I hope that the translation will be quite accurate, although, as is the case with poetry, it is difficult to translate it into another language. In my opinion, this poem reflects the spirit of the uprising, the gray ranks. All these very young people who fought in the ruins of Warsaw for freedom and dignity.
With Head On My Rifle
I hear at nights, as it getting closer
trembling and playing, the ring is closing
And i was sculptured by fast stream
I was swinged in clouds cradle
And to me it were wide waters
carried by birds
of wild elder; the fertile clouds
were to me as mother's smile
The slow ring day and night is rounding

Yes, this poem is one of the best poems, so extremely touching. It's worth to add that Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński was indeed an outstanding poet, one of the best, despite his young age. His poems were very good. He died fighting in the Warsaw Uprising in the age of 23. And his wife also died fighting in the Warsaw Uprising, in the age of 22, just few weeks after him. But if he hadn't died in the uprising, he would probably be arrested and maybe killed by the communists after the war, because they came to his mother, looking for him after the war.
Warsaw Uprising is still controversial to this day in Poland, some say it was futile from the start, nevertheless, the tribute must be paid to those who sacrificed their life. I recommend "There is a city" video about Warsaw.

Warsaw uprising was heroic and patriotic. Polish people rise against more powerful opponent. They were sure they will not win and no matter that they kept fighting to the death. They losed and Hitler decided to destroy all Warsaw. Please love polish people they are brave. Regards😮❤

IT should be noted that the soviet aircraft didnt help neither allowed to land for american aircraft to land on the soviet sis się, so the american aircraft had to fly from the southern italy up to Warsaw.
Wrong. Soviet aircraft helped insurgents only from September 17th but on a much smaller scale than Western Allies. Drops were performed without parachutes and only in Zoliborz pocket ( Radoslaw group ). American planes USAAF flew only from England and were not attempting to land because they were landing in Poltava in Ukraine. On way back to UK targets in Romania and Hugary were bombed. Only RAF and SAAF were flying from southern Italy ( Poles, South Africans, British, New Zealanders and very few Australians and Canadians ). These planes were not allowed to land in Soviet controlled territory east of Vistula river.
If I may make a suggestion for another reaction video, I suggest watching the video about Inmate 4859 by Sabaton. I warn you, the material is very heavy, but the hero is EXTREMELY unique and important to the world.
If there is something called the Polish spirit, then there is the German and Russian spirit too and boy, oh boy, those 2 are not pretty. If our history shaped us as Poles then Nazi and Soviet history shaped Germans and Russians. It doesn't mean that they are all bad. It just means that statistically speaking it's not wise to trust them.

In the night of 23-24 August 1939, Germany and the Soviet Union signed a non-aggression pact, which also provided for the partition of Poland by both sides.
The Soviets shot 22,000 Poles in Katyn. It should be noted here that these were Polish army officers who were prisoners of war.

What I think is that You absolutely should visit Auschwitz and see for yourself how horrible and huge of a tragedy that actually was. I think as well about You saying that polish are how they are because of our religion but it is absolutely far away from truth. We are like this because of our history our ancestors and because of the strong will to live in peace and prosperity. We are proud and we will always fight for what is important for as. We are believing in Gods will but most of the time God is giving you tools and it is only yours decision if You are willing to hard work and fight for your live for freedom happiness. ❤

The resilience is not a Christian thing its being, threaten, attacked, betrayed (by our neighbors, allies, enemies, church) all over again what has "hardened our steel" - one of our greatest victories (aside from stopping the Muslims conquering all of Europe) was defeating the Teutonic order and the crusade against Poland sanctioned by the pope 1410. There are simply people in Poland that have a "knee disfunction" their knees simply don't bend.

About the Ottoman invasion. Unlike other wars, Polish-Turkish relation was never bad. Turkish even held polish in high regards because of the polish resilience, even accepting war refugees, leading war against Russia to liberate Poland, and so on.
From the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising until the Russians entered Warsaw, no Russian plane was near Warsaw. Officially - Because it is too dangerous for pilots. The problem is that in 1942 and 1943 the Russians carried out several bombing raids on Warsaw.
