Mine is a diesel, I push the button and nothing happens. But, red horizontal coils appear on the dash,then with in seconds it starts itself? Is that warning me the block is cold and needs to be heated??
It's a 5.00 change. Easy enough. Most situations of it was the fob battery, you'd get a crank no start. Security will keep it from running but will crank. Might be different on more recent models.
Do BMWs have a minimum battery power requirement? I have a battery that works, but if I leave it too long, it gets drained. However, I noticed that my BMW will NOT turn overdespite the battery STILL having power. Is there a sensor that forcably prevents the engine from starting if it detects "not enough power"? My BMW *ALMOST* started, but it shut off on its own for some stupid reason.

When it doesn't turn over, try jumping it. If it turns over, it's definitely your battery.
