- Prosciutto, but better. Jamón Ibérico is in a league of its own. Nutty with a powerful yet refined acorn flavor, fatty and rich, and yet so incredibly addicting. It's truly one of the most amazing foods I've come across in my life, and the process of carving and enjoying this delicacy is quite special.

As a Spanish I was afraid of what crimes were you going to commit with a Jamón of that quality, but you guys did it perfect, even getting the special knife to cut it and doing one of the most typical Spanish dishes, the croquetas.
I'm happy that you have searched all that information of how to eat the jamón and hope that you have enjoyed it, great video.
He thought you were going to do like some Tesco shops that sell jamón ibérico (el curado de mierda) for an expensive price
haber al principio se han llevado medio jamon antes de empezar con el jamonero xd pero por lo demas esta bien
pensaba que lo iban a cocer para sopa o algo jajajaja, eso si el hueso de ese jamon para la sopa debe estar buenisimo

Only you make that distinction. I think the correct demonym for Spain is Spanish. I think you have respected a lot the work and tradition involved in the process of making ham. Although using a 5J for croquettes... If my grandmother came back to life ;)@@tomiglesiaspineiro8498

Making croquetas with a good jamon is an amazing way to enjoy the jamon too. In my family, we usually buy a jamon in christmas, becouse is an expensive invest. But it is amazing to have visit at home and cut some jamon in a plate to enjoy it together.

So happy to see people from other countries enjoying the amazing jamón ibérico that we have here in spain, I was surprised on how they treated it with the proper and traditional tools to cut it perfectly. The recipe of the croquetas was also very accurate to the ones we have here. Very nice video. Viva España. You guys should really come here and try more typical food.

I’m literally visiting Spain right now and I just bought 200g of this ham for 25€! Insanely expensive but insanely good. You timed this perfectly lmao
Yeah, it’s sooooo much cheaper in Spain. The reason it costs this much in the USA is because it’s technically illegal so they have to go through weird loopholes to import it.
@@boarbot7829 I know it is not illegal, it is just that it is a very very luxurious product outside of Spain, even in Spain a 5j is very expensive, the average Spaniard can not afford one because of the low salaries, I say all this being Spanish, knowing the country well.
really for a good ham you don't have to go to a 5j, you can get very good hams for 150/200 euros in the area of andalucia and extremadura which is the jabugo ham one of the best spanish hams.

In case you wanna try this trick for croquetas, you can lower the amount of flour on te bechamel, and add gelatine at the end of the process (the normal one that comes in sheets, obviously hidrated) then, rest the dough in the refrigerator so the gelatine gives consistence to the mix in rder to be floured and breadcrubmed, then u fry. The result will be even more creamyer/liquid at the end as the gelatine only gives consistence being cold.
Gelatine? What the heck
Wonderful video. 👌🏽🤙🏽👏🏽

1:09 that one part in Battle Tendency:

Hi Nick. I also come from Spain and more specifically from the most known region of the Iberian ham breed Andalucía. The croquetas were quite spot on however it is true, also from the other jamón ibérico video where you made the carbonara, that ham doesn’t specifically need to be cooked or toasted to not lose that rich, salty and greasy taste which it offers. For instance in the bechamel make only the bechamel separately and then add those beautiful chunks of diced jamón to the mixture, but don’t fry the jamón in the pan because it is losing its flavor in the process. By the way I’m not trying to look like Gordon Ramsey either.
I was thinking the same thing. Why spend the money on such an exquisite cut of meat that’s been cured for 2-5 years just to fry it in a pan?
