Kirk hammet often plays penatonic minor scale so your removing 2 notes including the raised 2nd so the b minor penatonic and the e minor penatonic cover the same notes.

Love this new wave of metallica reimaginings and interpretations of late by the help of all these technologies.
All these vidoes with altered tuning make me believe I should get out of my comfort zone and start playing the guitar in other tunings besides E standard. Just beautiful... very beautiful

Very very nice cover, very interesting to hear such a classic in a different tuning like this. My one complaint is how soft and faded the drums are. I guess it makes sense given youre trying to front what youve changed the most, the guitar riffs and solo. But the drum section on the Fade to Black solo is probably my favorite (and I would argue the best) Lars fills of any Metallica song. The driving double base through the whole back half just really accelerates the feel of the solos nicely. Would love to see a version of this with perhaps a more neutral mixing.
I play this in D standard because my Floyd Rose is tuned for Death and I'm too lazy to grab something a half step down. It sounds pretty wicked in C sharp!

It’s the same as E standard, just down a step and a half. All the fingerings are the same. Try drop or open tunings if you really want to do something different.
Just remember to increase the string gauge as you tune down, otherwise it'll end up sounding weird.
a few years ago I tried Drop C because I wanted to play I'm the Mountain by Stoned Jesus... and never got back in E standard
