Yep it sounds perfect in this mix. The guitars are supposed to be overbearing and scooped and clinical sounding, it's part of the album sound. But having that little bit of bass ties it all together especially for the clean section. It's just in the background and the guitars still have good bass to them.

James here sounds as if he smoked two packs a day and were seriously overweight at the time of the recording. That bridge which leads to the double bass parts and stuff sounds absolutely epic.
That double bass riff just got 20x more ominous in this tuning....and I am HERE for it!!! Very well done! 👍👍🔥🔥

C standard is amazing and if you wanna be that slight bit more heavy , tune that Low E straight down to drop b am I right?
I've always loved it way better than C standard! C# feels like it has more bite than C standard. I use 08-38 strings on my SG tuned to C#, it's my favourite guitar to play!
Forget C# the best tuning is Dflat

It sounds like when I'm too lazy (or when my strings are too old) to keep tuning up and down, so I just keep playing songs at whatever lower tuning I'm already in... That happens more than I want to admit 😆
Proof that detuned does not make heavier. It just makes lower.

Man, thats cool. Theres a couple spots where i think it must've been harder to work with (like the lighter bit at 1:24 and 2:14ish ) , but it sounds so damn good. some bits are so perfect. Especially once it picks up, that's perfect right there.
And still the coolest thing about this track is that I can hear bass

Holy hell hearing the last bit of lyrics made me think of Orbit culture! I’ve always likened their vocalists clean vocals to a justice era James with more grit. But having this shifted down to C# makes the resemblance even more apparent!
it's crazy how much memory can do to a song, i had the volume low so i couldn't make out the notes and i swear it sounded just like the original until i turned it up.

@@cool2no I think since the detune artifacting isnt there it tricks the brain, especially the vocals. it's really well done which makes subtle but noticable
It sounds like when I manually lower the speed on my record player. I sometimes do that to make albums sound more sludgy.

I always play this song in either D standard C# standard. When I pick up my guitar and feel like playing some Metallica it never stays in E standard. Sounds so much smoother.
