Psychopathic women are more likely to attack you indirectly. Notice how Veronica bought the Glock pistol & rather than just use it against Ron directly, that she made very clear that she hated, she instead used relational aggression by harming their daughters to get at him. Psychopathic women have little to no empathy or remorse, that's why she could commit those horrific acts & still claim that she is a good mother. Female psychopaths are also masters at playing the victim card. Veronica accused her husband of abuse & financially neglecting her & their daughters but it was always proven with evidence that he was never guilty of either to those things.
It's hard watching/listening to cases involving the murder of children. 😢

Honestly I lowkey also hold him accountable for not protecting his children. She’s CLEARLY unstable and it seems he was more interested in having a “hot” wife than care about how she would be as a parent. I saw this a lot when I worked at a high end daycare. Hi! Someone with actual C-PTSD here. My diagnosis came from the fact that unlike with PTSD, my trauma is repeated and drawn out, mine being for over a decade. While it is classified as the more "intense" form of PTSD, it will never justify someone commiting murder, and for someone to try and say so is not only idiotic but harmful.
Thank you! I also have been formally diagnosed with C-PTSD. I appreciate you expressing that the condition is real and we’re not being dramatic. We don’t have PTSD, but that takes nothing away from the trauma endured by people who do. It’s just more complicated - I liken it to a tangled ball of string. You can only pull on an end (and deal with the emotions) for a short time before you run into a knot. Then you have to deal with that (or add it to an ever growing list). And you are 100% right - nothing justifies murdering your children. I wish you well on your journey of recovery.
I just commented the same as I know it's a new definition, but it has valid diagnostics that help therapists know how to treat you. It's not about a misery Olympics but having multiple sources of trauma across an extended timeframe, sometimes with multiple people, is going to have a different treatment plan than one incident in a lifetime. Both can result in PTSD (also acute and chronic), but they're different diagnostics.
And neither should be used to justify murder. This mom just sucks.
@@lauren9667 Agree. Just like doctors use different distinctions to treat you, therapists do as well. It's a bit silly as someone with say pneumonia wouldn't call someone with double pneumonia dramatic. 😂 It's literally just treatment criteria to know how to help you.

Some people are just pure evil and they derive pleasure from hurting others. There is no mental illness or complex explanation for what they do. It's just who they are. She is one of those people.

That's so sad and utterly unnecessary. That is so Chris Watts kind of behaviour beyond understandable in any way.
So I have been diagnosed with CPTSD from a psychiatrist after my disclosure of severe childhood trauma to my therapist. I was told that complex PTSD is different than PTSD as PTSD is typically a singular event or singular episode such as a plane crash or serving in the military, whereas complex PTSD often comes from childhood abuse, resulting in trauma that has Shaped the child in a way that they don’t know their authentic self because they always had to be on guard for incoming abuse. There may not be a diagnosis in the DSM 5 for CPTSD currently but I’m positive it will only be a matter of time until it is included as its own diagnosis.

Totally agree. We are still learning so much about trauma and the nervous system. Just because it isn’t in the DSM yet doesn’t mean it isn’t legitimate.
It’s completely logical to consider that a single traumatic event (a plane crash, for example) is going to affect someone with PTSD differently than someone that, say, has been in 10 plane crashes.
Same for an adult that undergoes trauma as an adult vs a child that undergoes trauma as a child.
Low level chronic trauma interspersed with high level traumatic events throughout childhood is definitely going to manifest differently in the nervous system than a single serious traumatic event in childhood.
There’s so much more to learn so we can help people heal. Sometimes Dr Grande shows that intellectual elitist attitude that he harbors just a little too much of, even though I like the guy a lot, it’s definitely a flaw he has.

I do not have words to express how sick I am of women being given lenient sentences for murdering their own children. "Compassion" and "empathy" and excuses for these selfish, violent women is not compassion at all. I’m sorry, I usually nod my head in agreement with you, Dr. Grande, but I can’t let this slide. I have been diagnosed complex PTSD by a licensed mental health provider with extensive training in treating trauma. I’m not trying to make it more dramatic. I’d do anything not to have it. For the other viewers, no one with CPTSD would ever call PTSD “simple”. It is not simple. It’s a horrible thing to go through and I wouldn’t trade CPTSD for PTSD. CPTSD has all the symptoms of PTSD along with emotional disregulation, problems maintaining relationships and a messed up sense of self. Maybe calling it complex PTSD is a mistake because it minimizes the trauma of both types of sufferers.
Veronica Youngblood may well have CPTSD, I’m not a psychologist, so take this for what it’s worth: She never learned how to create healthy relationships. Being abandoned would definitely cause a messed up sense of self. She was a sex worker, so that reinforced the pattern of bad relationships and a negative sense of self. The affairs and the “on again off again” divorce are excellent examples of emotional disregulation.
What never comes up in CPTSD discussions is violence. She may have CPTSD, but she’s also a cold blooded killer. The diagnosis does not give her a pass for all the horrible things she did to her husband and ultimately her children. There’s a reason the insanity plea rarely works and that’s because there are so few people with mental health disorders that are not conscious of right and wrong. May she rot in prison for what she did to those beautiful girls.

I have "complex ptsd" and it is very similar symptoms to borderline personality disorder, but you can pinpoint the cause to usually an abusive household. I just have to say that just because someone says they have cptsd doesn't mean they are trying to sound like their ptsd is more traumatic or special. It actually is a lot different than regular ptsd as it shapes your entire personality, view of others, and view of yourself. Just had to chime in. This mom is obviously in the wrong and evil
When I first started my mental health journey after accepting that I was in a DV situation and coming to terms with my DV upbringing I remember Dr Google making me worry that I had BPD, too!
I finally got into proper therapy and learned that I had cPTSD and started healing.
I’ve never seen anyone say it’s similar to BPD before, but I just wanted to comment that I also had this thought about myself and what I was experiencing.

It's disappointing and disingenuous to claim CPTSD is only used to "make PTSD sound more dramatic". It's unequivocally false. I've been diagnosed with this exact disorder, not because I wanted to be more dramatic, but because a licensed psychiatrist diagnosed me with it. But as per usual, if it doesn't exist in America, it doesn't exist at all, apparently. Don't devalue people's illnesses and diagnosis. Because of claims such as the one you made here, people genuinely suffering and diagnosed with this disorder are going to be ignored and laughed at because people are going to think they're just "trying to be dramatic", when in reality they were legitimately diagnosed by someone with FAR more qualifications than yourself and your "PhD in counselling". As someone in a mental health related field, you should be dismantling the stigma around mental illnesses, not perpetuating it. It's honestly disgusting and yet another reason I'm close to leaving this channel for good. Be better going forward.
Note: Her using CPTSD as an excuse for murdering her own children in cold blood is beyond disgusting and fucked up. I'm definitely not giving her any leeway here for that.

A case that notes mental disorder is not done so to excuse the perpetrator, nor to vilify those with similar disorders but to understand all contributing factors to their motivations (however twisted) and thereby prevent future occurrences.

i appreciate the tone Dr. Grande has with each of the cases he covers. i had two friends pass away at the hands of their father in 2020, one of the girls had just graduated 8 days before with me. unfortunately i don’t think anyone has picked up the case to review or talk about at all and its been 4 years now. i know Dr. Grande would give my friends the respect and attention they deserve.
I look forward to these analysis and appreciate your originality in them. I've just viewed the case of Cody's death by his father and now these sisters who were killed by their mother. These crimes against children sicken me no matter how tastefully they are addressed in the media. I sure hope that Hell is even worse than we all imagine for these sick parents.

Firstly, love your content! Secondly, I’m not sure about where you’re located, but where I am (Australia) on a lot of our mental health documentation, we do have CPTSD as a valid diagnosis. Usually related to ongoing and traumatic experiences in childhood. It may be completely different where you’re located.
In the US we have CPTSD as a valid diagnosis as well. I think Dr Grande got a bad taste in his mouth due to all the internet cPTSD quacks that make money “coaching” without any state sanctioned education in mental health. I think it just muddied the waters for him.

Only way you COULD use PTSD as a defense would be if it were a situation that triggered a belief that your life was in danger. Not to stereotype, but think of a Vietnam vet who hears a car backfire and shoots someone walking nearby, temporarily feeling like he's back in a war zone.
Outside of that type of situation, PTSD has nothing to do with defending murder.
When you’re having a PTSD “flashback” you react physically to a trigger with an adrenaline dump but you’re not psychotic. You don’t actually believe you’re in a specific traumatic situation from the past.
It’s probably similar to people that have panic attacks. You’re aware of reality and your surroundings but your body acts like it’s running from a rabid bear 😂 it’s very strange.
Without compounding comorbidities it is unfathomable that a person would commit murder on an innocent person due to PTSD.

PTSD feels like a hyper-vigilance. It does skirt a bit into a sort of proto paranoia/psychosis. Stupidily small things become triggering. Rustling in bushes, movement of shadows, certain smells, and particular sounds. Things that aren't there become monsters.

I appreciate that the judge decided her sentences would be served consecutively instead of concurrently, ensuring she never gets out on parole. However, I don’t think she will make it that long; inmates don’t tolerate crimes against children.

A Standard Case on the Nature of Poverty and Manipulation
In this case, poverty is not merely a "material" condition- no food, no place to sleep, no place to bathe. These might be aspects of the problem, but people who live in poverty by definition become cynical because of the hassles of life. Veronica was attractive. Men were willing to pay for sex with her; it's completely understandable. She understood early on, as a teenager, that if she was going to move forward at all it would come by trading on her looks. And isn't this what we all do to earn a living? We trade on whatever we have of value that leads to survival.
An American man comes along. He "rescues" her from poverty. Undoubtedly he was willing to pay big time to have sex with her. But because a sex worker never gets past understanding sex as a trade, not an expression of love, the marriage failed. No surprise there. Veronica is a failed person. But can we really blame her?
Yes. Because your story doesn’t account for the part where she planned and then executed the death of her two children and tried to slip out from the consequences. It doesn’t account for the times she filed false reports to her husband’s superiors and law enforcement. It doesn’t account for her cheating. We can blame her for quite a lot.
Plenty of people, be they poor, rich or in between, with a good upbringing or a terrible one, rely on “sell what you’ve got” to get by. Plenty of them involve adult entertainment. But most of them are not sociopathic, manipulative, violent and disgusting like this woman. You have a choice in how you behave and react to a situation, and she chose wrong every chance she got.

Such a profoundly tragic story for the husband and the children. It's so sad that evil like this can be very difficult to recognize until its too late. Ronald only was able to see how truly awful this person was after they had already committed each other to marriage and children and living situation. The intertwining of lives before knowing whether or not you fit together is what is so dangerous and so unpredictable but I suppose people cannot also date each other for 10 years waiting to see if anything insane happens. Life is hard. If you find good people keep them close!!!
