1950's Abandoned model - Antique rusty bus - Restoration

This is a rusty model bus produced by Joustra around 1950...
It's made of thin metal then sandblasting wasn't possible... I used electrolytic pickling. It has removed the old painting and also the rust. I wasn't sure to bring the windshield wipers to life but I made it ;)

Originally this must have been one little boy's dream toy! And then it endeded somewhere on a rubbish dump. But now its back to its original splendor, thanks to you!

This is an amazing restoration, but I also enjoyed the small details in the video, such as the use of the tow truck at the beginning, the stop-motion animation of the bus seats lining up to be cleaned, and the choice of music when showing the "underwater" view of the paint/rust removal. The quality of the video production is just as high as the quality of the restoration work. Thank-you!

Yeah with all due respect chip channel restoration uses a toy tow truck that he restored in fact a couple different ones to “tow-away“ his next restoration job which I noticed you have them listed in your channels list please give chip due credit where it is meant to be imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but limitation without credit is an insult.

In my childhood days during the 80s in India, there were lot of metal toys like bus, car, water boat, hen fight, guns etc. Only few years back came to know they were Russia origin. They were wonderful toys and good memories to cherrish,

A nice restoration indeed. I was very impressed by the quality of your decals and by the way you cleverly updated the side ones... but what amazed me is your job on returning all the plastic windows, windshield and roof panels to their original pristine transparency. Lucky of you (and for us) the tin plated seats and driver just needed cleaning and could be saved without any destructive pickling.

You have many skills, from chemistry to precision tooling. I wonder if you could recommend books or any other source to learn the art of restoration. Of course, I am aware that you are a grand master by now and such degree of knowledge and expertise can't be found on a book (or many books) but could be a starting point.

For crisper taped lines, paint it in the base colour first, before painting your secondary.

@@TheFabrik Yea i watched Marty's Matchbox Makeovers and he said the lines are a lot more crisp with that method and stop the other colour from leaking underneath the tape.
Yes, painting with red first would help with that. Wait for it to dry and then paint the white :)
