"Paul has such a recognizable voice". Well, not that recognizable I guess.
Haha! At least he appreciates the song!! Who wouldn't?
Just as recognizable as John singing “The Long and Winding Road!” 😂
Hahahaha that was the best thing...
A bit early, Paul songs the middle bit.
I think Ringo’s voice is the most recognizable in this song.
John sings at the beginning, paul in the middle, john at the end. Glad you noticed the drums, ringo was amazing. This song was for a long time considered their masterpiece but over time all their songs are considered equal.
Probably my favorite Ringo drumming from their entire catalog.
@@sourisvoleur4854 I want you. DRUMS
@@garp-cm7te - True. That song shows all of them at their peak.
I think most people still consider this their masterpiece. The best among equals
This is one of several masterpieces.
It’s John Lennon and the great Ringo Starr on drums and Paul comes in with “woke up, got of bed..... The Beatles!
Paul also composed/directed the orchestral breaks before and after the middle 8. And he wrote the Intro. This was a 50/50 Lennon/McCartney masterpiece. John's voice on this can break your heart.
What’s even more impressive is this was done on a 4 track mixer. No auto tune or pitch correct. The Beatles with their innovations and imagination set a gold standard that is just as good today as it was back then. Their music stood the test of time and almost 60 years old. Da-yum!! And Paul McCartney is officially the most successful composer in history
You missed the legendary last chord. Don’t turn of the song til it’s done, bro.
That’s what annoys me most about some reactors out there, they like to stop watching as quickly as possible it seems before even making sure it’s properly ended.
This song is a masterpiece. It's just about everyday life, how mundane it can seem, while also being monumentally important (hence the grandiose soundtrack). It's recreating the experience of being alive.
So glad you love this!
Listen again.
The opening vocal is John Lennon, then Paul's interlude, then back to John.
After the crescendo at the end, there is a final crashing base chord that echoes on and on.
Iconic, unforgettable.
Don't miss it!
You got to remember this album is 54 years old!❤️
I know. Where does time go...the 50th anniversary edition is already 4 years old. 😳
lil pump WISHES he was this trippy lol
Was released one month after When I was born. Nice present to me 😉
The Fact the Beatles can turn some random moment on their lives and create a masterpiece.
The whole album was a tour-de-force. Nothing before or since has had the effect this album had. The Fab Four split 51 years ago but still regarded as the greatest band in history. 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yes it was John’s voice not Paul’s....I’m aware 😅
To be fair, they doubled up quite a lot on vocals, singing unisono for greater effect.
Do not cut the song off before it is finished! That final chord is one of the most famous chords in history!
Paul's part was based on his experiences when he had to take the bus. Being a double decker you could smoke on the second deck, thus he went upstairs and had a smoke.
Just going to work. They turned a morning commute and newspaper article about a pothole audit in Blackburn into one of the greatest songs in history. Genius.
In this song, The Beatles simply wrote about a few newspaper articles that they read . They were so talented that could write a greet song about just about anything.
BTW ..... "Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire".... simply refers to an article about the many pot holes in that area that needed to be repaired.
To think that in the space of nine years pop music went from Splish Splash I Was Takin' A Bath to A Day In The Life! Please do Tomorrow Never Knows next.
I think we went back, though. Isn't Splish Splash a Katy Perry song?
The introduct of drugs widely available.
No wait. Katy did Swish Swish. Splish Splash was Bobby Darin.
Ringo's drumming is impeccable on this track.
This tune is actually 2 songs mashed into one song. John Lennon wrote the beginning and ending parts, and Paul McCartney wrote the middle part. They couldn't figure out how to finish their songs, so they mashed them together into 'A Day In The Life'.
Had no idea. Amazing
Nope. It's fun to make up your own facts but if you actually bother to research it Lennon only wrote the first verse and the melody for his part by himself and collaborated with Paul for the rest
www.beatlesebooks.com/a-day-in-the-life
@@eziospaghettiauditore8369 What did I just write ? It was a mash up of 2 different tunes.
True! Amazing what they cameup with, just Brilliant!! 👏🏼
It's John Lennon singing at the start and the end not Paul McCartney. McCartney is signing "Woke up. Got out of bed.........".
If it is possible for the Beatles to have an underrated song it would be "Hey Bulldog". Would love to see you react to that.
I've always rated Bulldog. From buying the Yellow Submarine album in 1970 it was always the stand out track.
It isn't "underrated". It was actually a throw--away that was obscure because included on an LP with other thematic songs. But definitely a Lennon song.
So True
Hey Bulldog is a Master Piece
Fanny did a fabulous cover of Hey Bulldog.
At the very end, you ended it before it actually stopped & you really missed it building up again before crashing to an end, & even then it's not over yet! It hangs on that final gorgeous chord & keeps reverberating over & over & THEN it gradually fades out. But, yes, it is BLOODY BRILLIANT!
Those four souls together created a magic that's never been matched.
Their producer George Martin was really the 5th Beatle. He was the one who instructed the studio orchestra to continually play rising scales each time you hear that orchestra rush. This is arguably their shining moment...but there are SO many other shining moments...
That was John singing at the beginning, not Paul. Paul sings the small, bouncy section, in the middle. The rest is John. :)
Try "I am the Walrus" next man, it's a Lennon masterpiece!
I remember, when I was 14 years old, Sgt. Pepper was the first LP I bought, a real Masterpiece.
When it came out none of us had heard anything like it, it changed music forever
@@beatlebrian4404 And the funny thing is : I can also sing now: When I'm 64.
@@mariaportengen2959 I hope your husband doesn't lock the door, if you have been out till quarter to three!
@@beatlebrian4404 Ha ha!!
Me too, I was 16, couldn't believe what I was hearing.
That was John singing the first part..Paul the middle, then back to John...The entire album is a masterpiece...Imho, the greatest album of all time..."Revolver" .. "Rubber Soul"..and "The Beatles", (more commonly known as "The White album") is right there with it, but this one is my favorite.
That’s John Lennon singing. He and Paul both had amazing voices. George wasn’t far behind. There was just amazing talent oozing out of every pore of these guys. Straight up geniuses as individuals and totally untouchable when put together.
Listen to the whole album this was from.
I recall someone saying they sat in the control room and heard this song for the first time. They said something like, " My brain just dribbled out onto the floor in front of me. " Right on.
It's great to see that young people appreciate great old music
The Beatles legacy will carry on for generations. People in the future may look back on it the way we do with Beethoven and treat them as classics.
For many years, and possibly still even now, Rolling Stone magazine had this listed as the BEST rock song EVER!!!
John is singing the first and third parts. Paul is singing “woke up got of bed...
Nicely done! Try 'Hey Bulldog', 'Dear Prudence', if you want heavy, then 'Helter Skelter' (White album version only please!), if you want one light years ahead of its time, try 'Tomorrow Never Knows' released in 1966 from the Revolver album, 'Lady Madonna', another harder one is 'I Want You (She's So Heavy) from Abbey Road, one great one many Beatles fans haven't heard is 'Rain' since it is one of many that are not on a Beatles album (and Ringo felt he did his best drumming on that track). Its a very deep rabbit hole, but there are a few. Good luck!
Actually, "Rain" was released on an album: "Hey Jude", a compilation album released in the U.S. in 1970. Nevertheless, I, too, believe "Rain" to be an unrecognized gem by the Beatles and should rate a reaction video.
It still sounds great after all these years.
Ringo always said he was a bad drummer but he was probably just the most understated subtle dude to sit behind a kit.
John was actually singing most of the song. That's OK tho'...the more you listen to them the more you can tell who's who. Loved your reaction!
Orchestral climax, Piano orgasm. Genius!
That was john....pail sung the middle...great review. You earned a subscription. 👊 Another great John hiden jem...your bird can sing.
This is a John Lennon song at the start and at the end. In the middle it is Paul McCartney. Two songs knitted brilliantly together. I am a 60s child who remembers when it came out in the UK in 1967.
Happiness is a warm gun!! Fantastic
Paul starts singing at , "Woke up, got out of bed". It will become clear to you who is singing the more you listen to them.
This album was meant to be listened to in its entirety, from begining to end as one piece.
He even cut the end of that song.
You have to listen to the whole album to truly appreciate how great it is
Start from the first album and listen to them going through to even after they were the Beatles to their solo careers. You’ll have a wonderful time. We all did
This song was a huge collaborative effort on what was basically a John Lennon composition. Paul supplied the middle part and George Martin assembled a formidable orchestra for everything else. Lennon had this to say about the lyrics - 'Just as it sounds: I was reading the paper one day and noticed two stories. One was about the Guinness heir who killed himself in a car. That was the main headline story. He died in London in a car crash. On the next page was a story about four thousand potholes in the streets of Blackburn, Lancashire, that needed to be filled. Paul’s contribution was the beautiful little lick in the song, ‘I’d love to turn you on,’ that he’d had floating around in his head and couldn’t use. I thought it was a damn good piece of work.' John Lennon
You should have let it run to the end.....there's a little "druggie" surprise at the very end.
Hahaha I actually did hear it after I filmed the video.
Nevertoseeanyotherway nevertoseeanyotherway nevertoseeanyotherway.
i thought the same thing
Plus the way the last piano note of the main song fades beautifully. When played on the radio, the DJs usually adjust the volume so that you can hear everything, right to the incidental creak of a chair upon final fade-out (pre-"druggy surprise" part)
That kind of volume equalizing works really well with Sweet's long version of "Love is Like Oxygen" (1978) as well
@@Mibbitmaker Love Is Like Oxygen is another fantastic song. xxx
JUST SUBSCRIBED NAIR, Anyone that appreciates The Beatles and whose dad loves the Eagles is a friend of mine! This song among some of the other things The Beatles did in the studio helped revolutionize music. I was fortunate to grow up with them from their first appearance on national TV on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. For over 7 years they ruled the airwaves. They stopped touring early on and decided to focus on just making great music in their Apple Studio. Once an album came out you couldn't wait for the next one. I went to bed with their records playing every night as a young teen. The Beatles weren't just a band, as they influenced the way young people viewed their lives and how they could make sweeping positive changes in the world. The Beatles were the 60's. PS You can choose almost any of over 200 songs and you'll enjoy it. Loved your reaction and look forward to more!
"Tomorrow never knows " & " Yeah Blues" ..Beatles are Hypnotizing!
simply the greatest musical act of all time .
“Paul has such a recognizable voice”…
…
…
…
That’s John.
Amazing song!
Lenon had the beginning lyrics, McCartney had the lyrics at the change up, Lennon had the end lyrics, how to put them all together to make a cohesive piece of music. In steps Sir George Martin, affectionately referred to as the 5th Beatle, producer of Classical Music, took over producing for The Beatles and Voila' a Masterpiece such as A Day In The Life was born.
And unlike today where you can listen to just about anything, this song was banned from Radio Airplay for quite some time during the 60s but nothing stopped people from hearing this masterpiece. Word got around lol
honestly when its a beatles song you should always watch till the end
Both Paul and John sing here. One of the best Beatles songs.
Ringo Star outstanding drumming just makes the Beatles songs
Yes!
This song changed my soul
The last long piano chord of the song which you did not play you should listen to. It is each one of the Beatles standing at a grand piano hitting a chord and it holds on for about a minute I think. It's an incredible end to the whole album.
1:45 lol that's John
The irony
What a tune - they made that without all the tech in the 60s too
That is John singing when you made the comment about a "recognizable" voice. Right after that when the change comes is Paul's voice. After you are more familiar with the Beatles you will be able to distinguish between the two of them easily.
There’s rock, funk, folk, hard & soft rock, punk, grunge, rap, hip hop, psychedelic and everything in between. And there’s The Beatles.
Thy were with out the best band best selling band of all time thanks for reviewing
Check out 'Oh Darling' by The Beatles. You'll love it.
One of McCartney's best vocals great song
Try “within you without you “for a mind blower 😂❤
Paul has such a recognizable voice.....as John sings 😂😂😂😂
The bridge after the Paul's part (ahahahahahahaha) is so much more better than what we hear today!
You switched it off before the grand finale!!
If you like John’s vocals on the release, you should check out the anthology take where his vocals are chillingly haunting!
They had a full orchestra playing with them.
Definitely one of the top 5 Beatles songs.
They did that on a tiny 4 track recorder with 1966 technology and by the way John Lennon was singing
Great song. Cool reaction. Thanks, man.
A new sub here and The Beatles are my first introduction to music as a 3 year old. My parents told me I was dancing and laughing with joy. 59 now and I'm still reacting the same way
Back in the '60s & '70s you could be anywhere, home or out running errands & such where a song would play on the radio & you were instantly transported to another place/mood/feeling. Took it completely for granted, lucky to be so spoiled by creative geniuses!
Try "Something in the way she moves", George singing, for a change. Incredibly romantic.
Drums ...percuzzzz baby
"Cinematic" is a great word for it.
It's for sure a song you have to listen to over and over to pick up everything
The music then and into the 80s was great!
Please do a reaction video of The Reo Brothers from The Philippines playing homage to this track in their home studio and performed LIVE .. you will be GOBSMACKED at how brilliant they are!
Brother, don't mind the wisecracks. You have just started on the journey. I have been listening to the Beatles since I was 16 and am still mystified at times. Cause the Beatles are so versatile. Compare, e.g., John's voice in Twist and Shout and Julia or Paul's in Helter Skelter and I Will. Soldier on, my brother.. Thank you and God Bless!
This is a masterpiece!!
Excellent. I subscribed
Strawberry Fields Forever, Nowhere Man, I Dig A Pony, Don't Let me Down, I want You, Something, Good Day Sunshine, Dr. Robert, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Magical Mystery Tour, Hello Goodbye, I am the Walrus, Dear Prudence, Helter Skelter, Revolution, Julia, I Will, Mother Nature's Son, ... I could go on because the Beatles had so many great songs. People dismissed them at first, as a band that appealed to 13 year old girls, but, they proved they were much more than that.
Despite agreeing at the beginning that all the songs they wrote would be attributed to Lennon and McCartney, regardless of who actually wrote the song, John and Paul would usually, but not always, sing the songs they wrote. In this case John wrote and sings the first and third parts with Paul writing and singing the middle part. For anyone who wants to hear Ringo sing John and Paul wrote a "nice" sing-along song for him called "With a Little Help from My Friends". Amazingly Joe Cocker did a cover of it with his own arrangement and it's now recognised as one of the greatest covers ever made.
So much talent from England
Lotta talk about "The Beatles" being "the greatest band," but most of what you've actually listened to came after they opened the door and revolutionized recording, setting a standard no one since has equaled.
Well, you do get some Paul mid song, but that was John. That's him after the symphonic crash when the piano kicks in. "Woke up, got out of bed......." Then back to John...."I read the news today, oh boy....." Only the Beatles could make "the news" so interesting. Now we know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall! This is on a lot of short lists as greatest song of all time!
Love the notes that you find online on how and with what instrument etc,etc they used
on their songs
I grew up in that era. You're right....it was a lot of fun!
Some good ones: The Word, I''ve just seen a face, It won't be long, A Hard day's night (studio version), The Night Before, Tomorrow never knows, What you're doing, Every little thing, Anything from the live in Washington 1964 concert
You're hooked now buddy.
I am The Walrus, I'm Down, Why Do not we do it on the road (McCartney Playing Drums, Guitar and Bass) She is a Woman. And without the other Beatles: Monkberry Moon Delight. Delirium.
Classic remark!!
That is John's voice in the first half of the song and it will change when Paul comes in and you can tell it
fun to see you not know the singer...its john..but i love that you are so new w/ it..great ..thank you!
this is fucking ART
Tomorrow Never Knows...that's your next Beatles song.
I know this is an old posting, but I had to give a shout out to Ringo's drumming. The song is brilliant, the drumming virtuosic.
