    Very valuable information. I can clearly see exactly what you described and how it will improve the drive mechanism and future problems, which, after having welded the spline shaft to the adjuster, should remove any possibility of it recurring, leaving only one possible cause, cable adjustment/replacement.

  • @jz9985
    @jz9985 Před rokem +2

    You are absolutely right. I had same issue. The newer models have a better fixing arrangement to stop it slipping. Your weld option is good one as the gearbox is well built and should last a lifetime. Changing the cable in event of stretching is last option.

    i watched your video and bought a near new hru216 with same "clicking" issue,it actually drives fine on concrete floor when tested but i knew something fishy thats why that guy selling it so cheap. as expected when i took it home and mow some grass it made clicking noise but not moving. instead of taking whole gearbox out,i only move one panel besides the shooting port so i can reach this clutch arm, loose that bolt and gave a light knock with hammer and screwdrive now it drives fantastic! thank you so much!

      Mine is 3 years old, not a lot of use and mower shop said that the gearbox needed replacing but the wheels still turn when lifted off the ground so I wasn't convinced. I did exactly how you mentioned and it started working until it slipped back again. Have you actually welded yours? And if so, did you drop the entire gearbox to do so? Cheers

      @@Futurenow77 i did second adjustment to make it bit tighter(i didnt drop gearbox, only remove the left panel) and i used little bit “JBweld” after the adjustment.it seems working 100%fine.

      @@mowtech7397 You are right. The gearbox is well built it was the connection to the spline thats the issue.They have fixed the problem on newer models. Cable stretch is not the issue.

    Just to be clear, Are you saying the lever loosens or wears on the splined shaft? which then reduces the amount of throw. so the dog gear doesn't fully engage. and or the cable is stretched and creating the same problem.

    I have inherited one of these and trying to figure something out. Does it "drive" both rear wheels or just the right?
    seem to not have any power on the left so it works but it's a pain to push.

      Yes it drives both wheels you may have a problem with the wheel ratchets

      @@mowtech7397Just fixed it. For some reason the ratchet on the left wheel had moved a few mm forward so it was no longer engaging (the wheel was spinning freely forwards and backwards without moving the axle). Pulled the wheel off and reseated everything. Click click click when going backwards and moves axle now when spinning forward. Thanks again!!!

    Hi, there, I am from SydneyI want to ask you when the engine is off and you engage the drive clutch, can the rear wheel moves forward? When engage drive clutch, can the rear wheel moves backwards?
