    Thank you for this video. I have rheumatoid arthritis and was so thrilled when I got the brushless one. However, my experience was a bit different than what happened to you. I used them for perhaps a half hour the first day and they worked flawlessly. I oiled them before and after, per the instructions. The next time I used them I was only cutting those small branches off the main branch so fit more in the garbage can. They began making the exact noise you videoed and suddenly one blade and the part with a spring fell off the unit and to the ground. Even though I picked these up immediately and set them aside, I can now see that circular piece that flips by where you oil is gone. I thought I would just need a part, but I am guessing from your video that they are broken. I sure could have had the trimming done for me for less than $149 for a tool that lasted an hour or less. I have not had trouble like this with my other Ryobi tools.

    I have at least a dozen or more Ryobi tools and this one is my favorite and the one that gets used the most. I couldn’t even imagine the pain and possible injury I might have endured by using a manual pruner over this life saving device. The only problem I have is Ryobi doesn’t offer replacement blades so the options are trying to sharpen them or replace the entire tool. Oh well, with the amount of usage it gets, it would be worth it ☺️☺️☺️

    Very valuable information. I can clearly see exactly what you described and how it will improve the drive mechanism and future problems, which, after having welded the spline shaft to the adjuster, should remove any possibility of it recurring, leaving only one possible cause, cable adjustment/replacement.

    Thanks for the review, glad you went into detail. I’m currently looking into getting a laser level for the job site and for home stuff. I just want to make sure it’s the right one for me. Also, my Canadian feelings are hurt now that you’ve reminded me winter is only 4-5 months away 😩. Last season was harsh in my area.

  • @k.squared
    @k.squared Před 5 měsíci

    Thanks, that was valuable. Got this in the 48 cm flavor this winter, in Lithuania, and then found out Bosch (a better company, imho, as it managed to completely leave the russian market, while Makita keeps on doing business with this aggressive terrorist dictatorship) released their first mower in the professional line, the GRA 18V2-46. It is extremely similar to the Makita ones in terms of exterior design, but has an "only" 46 cm blade. It seems nobody has reviewed it yet, unfortunately, it would be a very interesting watch... Anyways, Makita seems to have a regular blade pretty much everywhere except Australia and some neighboring regions perhaps, which get this x shaped one. As far as i know, nobody has made any comparisons in terms of running time and performance, which is a shame. On the other hand, I couldn't find this x shaped replacement blade for the 48 cm version on sale anywhere online (in Australia, or elsewhere), so perhaps it's only the thing with 53 cm one. Anyways, sticking with Makita and we'll see how well it does this summer in a homestead, where the conditions are rough and I'm not trying to maintain "a lawn". By the way, I get a strong feeling from watching 53 cm reviews the rear discharge hole is way larger on this one, compared to the 48 cm version, because the motor area is the same on both models. Frankly, I will be pleasantly shocked if mine will be able to fill this bag over 70 percent. By the way, Makita also has 64V mowers, which have considerably more power (2300 W vs 1900 W of these 40V ones), but take ridiculously large, otherwise worthless batteries. They also have a polycarbonate deck (apparently), which is supposedly both extremely tough and light, but I consider it a major minus due to the high toxicity of PC. EDIT: there's also at least one 64V mower (LM004J, 53.4 cm) with a metal deck too.

    The front axle is actually attached to metal. The plastic is just a cover. You can verify this for your self by going to the makita website, navigating to the mower in question and viewing the parts pdf. Edit: looking at buying one myself. Weighing up my options between this, an Ego or sticking with fuel and getting a honda

      @@mowtech7397Just fixed it. For some reason the ratchet on the left wheel had moved a few mm forward so it was no longer engaging (the wheel was spinning freely forwards and backwards without moving the axle). Pulled the wheel off and reseated everything. Click click click when going backwards and moves axle now when spinning forward. Thanks again!!!

    Thanks for the comparison review. I' was a big fan of the reciprocating saw with a pruning blade to trim off branches on the tree, but if the branch is already cut and on the ground, the reciprocating saw teeth sometime just shakes the branch and does not cut it until you grab it tight. I hope this small chainsaw works better for all that small loose stuff that needs to be cut up.

    I would have immediately put some loam in the cracks (over here I use gin gin loam WA). Helps with any edge dry spots and has good water retention. Have a wheel barrow or two full on standby, water that in and roll it level and then after say 4-7 days I refill any cracks that have settled in from the watering in. Obviously I have a commercial roller mower that helps a lot with rolling in initially and then mowing a few weeks later.

    • @mowtech7397
      @mowtech7397 Před 10 měsíci

      Yeah if I was doing it again I would of filled the edges straight away. I think it will take a few light goes with sand to get it right . I may have some trouble with this lawn as its heavy clay 100mm down . So I have 100mm of sand then clay which is not ideal
