Personally, I love that you two don't research in full detail. You're two friends just having a conversation. from when i was working in pathology there’s lots of different reasons as to why they can take longer. some get an emergency rush if the person is in ED, the current hospital the lab is in or rush tests like heart attack tests. then some get shipped around the state to get tested at specific labs. sometimes it’s the transit from tests result to your doctor that takes a while. also they can’t give it to you over the phone due to privacy reasons. idk if there’s anything else or if it’s completely different in the us but i hope this helps ❤❤
