- Nifty "sparks" or glowing resulting when abrading an edge of one of our Bull Thistle series sharpening stones. This is due to the triboluminescent quality of the ruby abrasive grain!

when two pieces of quartz are rubbed together they produce light in a similar fashion! very neat!
This is a great whetstone. I just got one a week or so ago and I love it.
wow!
I'm assuming that stone will be on the b grade section? Very interesting. Like those life savers when they're cold.
macmurfy2jka It's one we received with a bad warp in it and it will be used as a "beater" on things like shovels and hoes around the homestead. We do have a few more of them that will be listed as "Grade B" items soon, though.
+FortyTwoBlades so when are we gonna see a demo of the American Mutt stone. I am very curious about that one.
It'll probably be a little bit before we can get to doing a demo video on the American Mutt stone, but what would you be interested in seeing for the demo once we're able to get 'round to it?
+FortyTwoBlades well the description on your sight talks about reprofiling and a surprisingly smooth finish so a cafinovision time lapse of just that with a closeup of the edge at the end?
rough stones?
They're a coarse stone meant for imparting a toothy slicing edge on cutting tools without being so prone to burr formation as other coarse stones are. But the sparking is the result of triboluminescence, which is a little-understood property of some kinds of crystals.
@@FortyTwoBlades Thanks for the explanation! The sparks are illuminating 🐣🎉
