Incredible touch by the Pars fans with that Happy B'day banner, you would never in a million years get any away fans doing such a thing like that these days. Even the integrity of Football fans was special back then was a different level entirely to the past 30 years.

Nice work, great memories. I made the centenary statue that stands in the main entrance. The one with the two players and the shamrock. It was just 8 years earlier when Celtic played Real Madrid and I can verify that the capacity for that game was limited to 67,000 and it wasn't at all crushed. If you think that the same stadium had held upwards of 80,000 it might give some context. It was the only game I ever attended with my da' and we had plenty of space at that 67000. And we won 2-0. Oh what a night. That was in the last 8 too and indeed the last time we would get that far.

My memories of that day v Dundee were:
    Singing Happy Birthday Dear Celtic.
The utter joy of Walkers 2 rapid goals.
One of those little blue cars you used to get sitting behind the goals.
    Fans sitting round the track.
My 11 year old lungs and diaphragm feeling crushed as I tried to see in the Rangers End.
Looking at it through an adults eyes now, that could have been a Hillsborough-type event with how many people crammed, and I mean CRAMMED in.
Still the happiest season of my Celtic supporting life💚
    Thanks for the video 👍🏼👍🏼

I really enjoyed that. It was a walk down memory lane for me. I remember at Dunfermline early in that season cheering on Chris Morris and could see he was a committed player running up and down the wing. I knew we had a team that could win the league that day. 💚🍀💚

I was there. I had to stand in the Rangers end. There was at least 70,000 there. I met uncles and cousins who hadn't been to a Celtic game since the early 70s. You couldn't move . The result was never in doubt .

Shortly after Hay was sacked I was sitting in the Celtic stand watching the game against I think it was motherwell or Hamilton who was sitting behind me Davy Hay, I asked him what's he doing sitting with us mere mortals he replied that he was a Celtic fan also and had to pay at the turnstiles to watch the game, a week before he was sitting in the dugout HH 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪☘️

I at that game with my brother what an amazing team no players bought by stealing money from her majesties revenue and customs sad that the clubs' misdeeds were allowed to stand but it was truly fantastic the day we won the league having been written off by the scots press establishment at the start that seasons THE CROWD WAS IN EXCESS OF 80.000 OR MORE HAVEING been to many old firm games at paradise this was at least the biggest crowd i had to see at the Celtic park ever and followed Celtic boy and man CHAMPIONS

  • @starofdavid9919

Great memories but on the subject of attendances at Celtic park in those days, Celtic had a very annoying habit of stating attendances well below what they actually were bearing in mind you paid cash at the turnstiles in those days so for example Celtic would say todays attendance was 18.000 when everyone and their dog knew it was 30.000 or more at the very least, cant blame them really but the biscuit tin mentality was rife in those days and some would say it is still the same to this day.

The year before me and 2 pals skipped the train down to Euston station.... We had about 90p between us.... I think it was something to do with Charlie's transfer to arsenal.... Two 11yr olds and a 13yr old.... At one point on the train down to london.....awe brooo... This is Gospel..... It took ages but aye.... Hector was in the cabin next to us.....& Aye He was effing shouting awrite.......Tickets... There wasn't a lot of people in our cabin....... Maybe 20 give or take.... Seconds later were in a British rail toilet Dubbed right up...And a swear he's outside banging an shoutin about tickets....honest..... And see the 20 folk in the cabin they need up in the toilet wae Us..... oh ffs man honest....... You couldn't make this up.... See 5 minutes after getting aff the train..... We walked down and seen the crowd of fans in trafalgar Sq.....I can still see that.... Right after that me and the other 11 yr old stopped plod on the street told them what happened.....they took us to cannon row copper station..... And then ma maw and steeped had to come and get us......in a 15 yr old return cherry....And believe me when I say that was an journey and a hauf.......
