One thing to say to you Michael is that youtube should be honored to be part of its community. You are a real diamond and I really learnt a lot of things from you. Please, don't stop, people need like these videos . You are spreading 'musicality' traits to all of us. Keep up the good work.
Finally something that actually helped me with this. Been playing for over a year and can play some pretty complicated stuff but this has been something Ive always struggled with despite it seeming really simple on the surface
huge thanks for all the content you keep putting out there my dude, it's always a steady supply of inspiration, and BIG GRATS on the on the baby, wishing you and your family well
This is actually something that most players pick up at some point if they've spent enough time with metronome. It becomes like a second nature. I hear the first few beeps and then the sound simply disappears. Start out with something simple, like get an 8th note groove going on playing muted strings and let the metronome do the rest.
I am glad I landed on your channel. I completely connect with just about everything you are saying and doing. I'm going to be embarking on a last chance guitar immersion program when I retire in a bit. I'm looking around sampling stuff now with an eye toward real immersion in a year or so. You are very high on my list at the moment. Good luck with the new baby.
Congratulations on new addition 👏... gotta have time! obviously have your own sound but I hear some schoefield a go go sound ,which is one of my favorites, and little mark knopfler at the end🎶very cool
Congratulations on your new family member may GOD BLESS him and protect him in this crazy world that will soon return to normality Great lesson btw I wish you were around when I stared off or explain it the way you do here Bravo Peace
this is a really helpful approach. my timing has suffered from relying on backing tracks for practice. yet, practice with a metronome has been elusive and painful for me. i think that this will help. thanks!
Love the channel! Please do Dead and Co “Terrapin Station!!” I’ve worked out a lot but wanna dive more into the solo and ending sections. Love how many sections the song has....so good
Hey man! , i crashed into your channel a few days ago, i love your Grateful Dead/ Dead and Co videos (really useful!) . Can you do more tutorials on how to impro like John Mayer with Dead and Co?? btw congrats! best wishes.
Most metronome lessons just teach playing along with a scale or a simple strum pattern. This lesson teaches improvising. What I really need to see is playing a full song with intro., verse, chorus, licks, and ending along with a metronome.
Totally agree! I’ve watched tons of metronome videos and never seen an actual use of it with an actual song to show us the reality of how it works. This is where I am struggling! I’m tired of hearing simples 1, 2 , 3 ,4…. It’s theory, it’s the beginning but not daily reality.
I would suspect that if you’re truly ‘Listening’ to & along with the metronome IT also teaches you to pay attention to the SPACE Between the notes~~ the timing specifically 🧐 (I am an insane music lover~know a few guitar chords & played drums in 7th&8th grades) I am so impressed with note spacing, how it allows me essentially to become my own/or simply an instrument while dancing 💃🏼; I was once told by a band warming up backstage that I was dancing 💃🏼 a flutists part that they once used to incorporate 😳😊)
great content, thanks. BTW I am thinking of buying a prs mccarty 594 like the one you are playing. Is it better than a gibson les paul? Your advice is highly appreciated. Thanks.
I wish you would have had the metronome louder so we could better hear how the licks linked up with the one. Not saying they did go off. But I do it myself. I mean sometimes. Just once in a while. But congratulations!
Another thing that i believe is important is to internalize that beat, meaning you get your body moving/grooving to that beat. Notice your body, head, hand, arm, foot moving to that beat and keeping timing. You do it naturally in this and all your videos. If you are not doing that naturally, you need to work on that IMO
Actually, I'm an intermediate player who has struggled with timing since I picked up a guitar in 1988 in college so I actually really appreciate this lesson quite a bit. Thanks @guitargate. Congrats on another little dude!
This reminded me of this old video by drummer Peter Erskine who also talked about visualizing different divisions of the metronome: czcams.com/video/W6zyie8PuI0/video.html
While your in the hospital or now back at home congratulations on the new baby. That's a beautiful thing. Here's an interview with Jake Cinninger of UM. Enjoy. czcams.com/video/OC3TkWQHpX8/video.html
dude that hospital looks exactly like where you usually play
Maybe he's a doctor of music.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve ever watched. Forever in your debt. This just unlocked many new doors in the hallway of the mind.

That is gonna be one lucky kid!!! You energy , your body language, your excitement for things...are what get me involved....thank you !!!

Congratulations on the baby! You gotta check this one out tho Grateful Dead - High time June 21st 1976
Man I’m so glad I just found this lesson
Does anyone else do this?
Everytime I stop for a red light and use blinkers I instinctively start to drum on the steering wheel. :D
I've done it my whole life , hearing natural rhythms and drumming , before I even start playing , the blinker also lol
Yes my friend I definitely do that
Congrats dude.
Dude knows what time it is!
👍 I am a drummer and you are spot on
I can make 120. Sound a lot of different ways.
Congrats on the new child! RIP sleep!
Very cool

How slides, pull off and bends will work in terms of beats(metronome). How to practice slides using metronome?
Congrats .
great content, thanks. BTW I am thinking of buying a prs mccarty 594 like the one you are playing. Is it better than a gibson les paul? Your advice is highly appreciated. Thanks.
Musician. Four kids. 2020. -- Three things that I didn't know could go together. Also, great lesson.
Great video! What metronome are you using? app?
Can you do a video on Ruben and cherisse by the grateful shred (yes the grateful shred)
This is wht i been lookin for/\
“You want to do less” proceeds to do the most
Nice
Does anyone else have trouble hearing the click while practicing. Either you have a very loud metronome or you play silent.
I hate to admit it, but I have never used a metronome and I have a dumb question. Is the one beat that is different , Is it the one or the 4th beat.
Set the metronome to 60 bpm. Clap to the beat. It is neither silent nor broken. You have perfect time. Congrats. Now set it to 40.
I wish you would have had the metronome louder so we could better hear how the licks linked up with the one. Not saying they did go off. But I do it myself. I mean sometimes. Just once in a while.
But congratulations!
bro really said nonsense 😂
what about speed burst?
and how can i use the metronome to come up with guitar riffs guitar licks using major and minor scales?
to get riffs licks with a metronome you need to have the dongle that unlocks the proprietary algorithm
not sure what that means
Another thing that i believe is important is to internalize that beat, meaning you get your body moving/grooving to that beat. Notice your body, head, hand, arm, foot moving to that beat and keeping timing. You do it naturally in this and all your videos. If you are not doing that naturally, you need to work on that IMO
Yes!!!!!! I see metronome and I click!
Lol

Thanks @guitargate. Congrats on another little dude!
Please tell me, I’m gonna get better after a while. I try it I suck
Getting some Mark Letteri (Snarky Puppy) vibes
Ask and Ye shall receive: czcams.com/video/1Tm9f27A7KA/video.html
NO, NOT THE METRONOME
I was thinking the same LOL!
I was a drummer before I started playing guitar so......
Click tracks are illegal in my world!
🤭👍
Little late I guess but Congratulations
Corona - might be a good middle name
4 boys out of 4 children in total.. this guy is using the metronome in the bedroom, too...
This reminded me of this old video by drummer Peter Erskine who also talked about visualizing different divisions of the metronome: czcams.com/video/W6zyie8PuI0/video.html
Im a violinist. Does this still apply? I feel like my teacher would wack me with my bow
While your in the hospital or now back at home congratulations on the new baby. That's a beautiful thing. Here's an interview with Jake Cinninger of UM. Enjoy.

Drummer need no metronome. Lol
I hear and feel nothing. 😩😩😩😩😩😩
You think the Coronavirus is nonsense?
