  • In this video, you learn 5 ways you can practice guitar using a metronome and improve your timing. A metronome is an essential tool for a musician, and something you should be using regularly in your guitar practice.
Despite the massive benefits you will receive by practicing guitar with a metronome, many people avoid doing so, citing it too difficult to keep time with it. This is funny, because the main point of using a metronome is to do exactly this, improve your timing. By avoiding the use of a metronome in your guitar practice, your timing will only suffer.
In this lesson, I highlight the importance of using a metronome and 5 ways in which you can do so, resulting in the one thing all musicians must have, awareness of time and the ability to play their instrument to time.
    You learn how to:
    1. Clap In Time To A Metronome:
Learn to keep time with a metronome before bringing the guitar into the picture by clapping or tapping to it. It’s a great interim step before getting the instrument involved and can be done anywhere, anytime.
    2. Improve Your Strumming Using A Metronome:
Learn effective ways to develop your strumming skills with a metronome. Timing is everything when it comes to strumming, nothing else will matter if your strumming is not in time.
    3. Improve Your Soloing Skills With A Metronome:
Learn effective ways to develop your soloing skills with a metronome. Too many people focus on what notes they are going to play and ignore the timing of the notes. Whatever you play, it must groove, and the metronome will develop this skill.
    4. Develop Rock Solid Time With A Metronome:
I’ll show you a really great way to test how well you can keep time with a metronome. It’s fun and a will be a great “measuring stick” to see how well you are progressing regarding your timing and awareness of it.
    5. Measure Your Progress Using A Metronome:
Finally, learn how to measure your progress using a metronome. If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it. A metronome is not just a great device for developing your timing skills but also measuring other parts of your guitar playing too.

This is the best lesson I have watched on basic metronome for the beginner guitar player. The metronome up till now has always been confusing and scary. Now it makes sense to me.
