  • In this new CZcams exclusive series, Bomani Jones looks back at the year of Hip Hop in 1994, which is considered by some to be one of the greatest years for rap music. Our series kicks off with Snoop Dogg's debut album Doggystyle which technically released at the end of 1993 but had so much impact the following year. Bomani explains why this record was so important for the culture of Hip Hop and why Snoop Dogg gained immense popularity following this album. Not only did this album break the record for fasting selling Hip Hop album of all time but it also helped catapult rap into the mainstream. From the iconic west coast production, to Snoop Dogg's unique lyrics, Doggystyle will go down as one of the best rap albums from that generation. #snoopdogg #doggystyle #westcoastrap #snoop
