    Omg finally yes!! I've watched every "apex" video and none of them actually explain it fully. I've been dying for a video like this. Thanks Liz! I'm not a licensed tech but sadly still more skilled than many techs in my area. Keep the education coming, love it!!

      Yep, I've also watched every apex vid I can find and, yep, I stink and I can still create a better apex than the techs who charge me $50 when I don't want to spend the 4-6 hours. They glue on a tip, paint gel over it, and away I go. Really? Coulda done that MASELF, thanks. :/ So thankful for Liz.

    My gosh! All this time (almost a year now, since I started my interest in nails) I was thinking that with longer nails, you needed the apex to be bigger closer to the tip! Well, you can imagine the problems I’ve been having trying to keep my tips thin enough...lol. This is a game changer for me. Hee hee...Thank you so much! And now I understand the importance of C curves!!! This really helps so much!

      When doing a course for the qualification most dont tell you about c curve and they tell you to start from tip to cuticle area which ends up with way too thick of a nail extention but young nails did a video showing by doing cuticle area first then the tip you end up with a thinner extention and a much better blend

    Those tips are all we had when we first techs started and you know what trying to create an apex and making a beautiful nail with those was possible and I feel made us better techs, with more experience than most. We’ve had to experience it all to get to the better and the evolution of the nail. We did pinch those tips to get a nice c curve. And I can say without a doubt as a wearer of inch and a half long nails thin doesn’t work. I’ve tried for twenty years no amount of c curve will prevent a break without a great apex. Sometimes it needs to be a high but beautiful. Really depends on the clients and how they wear them, in regards to roughness.

    Thank you so much for this video! I understood the how and why of building an apex, but it has been harder to find information on what a C curve is and what it’s for. Your video explained it perfectly! I’m a DIYer for myself and my mum’s nails and your videos are exactly what I need to give us the best nails I can. I second the other user who requested tips on filing out the gunk on the underside of the nail if you haven’t already.
    The other thing I seem to be missing in my education is on proper cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting my tools! Sure, for now I’m just doing nails for myself and my mum, so my cleaning practices aren’t amazing, but I would love to be able to confidently step up my game. Obviously I don’t have the means to get an autoclave, but I’m sure I can do more than soak my bits in isopropyl alcohol! I’m still making my way through your videos, so maybe you’ve made one on this topic already, but in case you haven’t, I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting a solid how-to-not-spread-infection-to-everyone video.

    • @TheNailHub
      @TheNailHub  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi C-curve tubes work well for acrylic but not great for gel. The acrylic can be kind of squeezed around the tube as it is still setting up, but with gel we need to cure it so it can be awkward to pinch with c-curve rods/tubes. I usually find that the form holds the c-curve while I pinch.

      Not to say you can't use them. I have seen extreme nails where they use a tube under the gel and a clip over it to pinch the gel onto the tube while it is fully curing, but in my opinion this is a lot of work for regular salon nails and mainly used for competitions or when you're trying to do "look at how awesome I am" promotional photos.

    • @nailfixchill2193
      @nailfixchill2193 Před 5 lety +1

      @@TheNailHub Yess I see there is ways to use them but this is not necessary to use them so it can be more " overwhelming " to try to use them....than just place the form correctly and move on to the next step. I agree with you, yes we want a great and lasting result but in reality we already spend 2 hours for a "normal" full set so add a c-curve tube that is not so necessary..... not a good idea 😅. Thank you so much it really helps, sometimes we see something and we think " oh it's gonna change my game"... but just practice( and your channel ) can really change something. 💜💜 thank you thank you. 💜💜

    Also on a stiletto nail or a almond shaped nail what is the c curve supposed to look like cause I’ve noticed it’s not as dramatic looking c curve as if u were doing a like square or oval/square nail?

    Thanks so much Liz. I believe that will be a huge help. And obviously now I'm realizing how some nails seem to last so much better than others....purely in technique not being equal. But the one I popped this week just gone....so glad I was at home lol. Be curious how my tips stack up as far as curve goes. Because of the recent breakages I suspect I'll be using tips while my natural nail grows out a bit longer.
    I got hooked a year or so ago when I opted in as a volunteer at a local TAFE for a nail student. Obvious to be application seems easy, the technique the harder part. But I do recall her saying fitting forms on short nails can be a problem. I also recall her saying how each different one/brand had it's own pros and cons so I'm going to have to figure that one out as well.
    For me I've gone gel over polish because i can wreck polish in a few days even if I'm not working. I work in a plant nursery and gel lasts weeks, only let down if my building fails. I've just repaired my car after an accident and the gel polish stood up to it so well.

    The tweezers tip is great, I was just about to buy my self a pinching tool, but this is just brilliant.

    I really needed this. Thank you so so so soooooooooo much for this series. As a DIYer, it’s hard to find good content that teaches proper techniques and educates. You provide both and more.

    Liz, i just wanna thank you! Your vids are so easy to understand. I began about 4 months ago with doing nails and i remember when everything was just a big ? to me😁....now i understand and i am getting better and better. I love the internet. I would have never been able to wear long nails because all the " nail techs" in my area ruined my natural nail and had NO IDEA what they where doing. Omg when i think on those claws 😝🙈THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT WORK

    This was the most comprehensive nail shaping video I've ever watched and EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you SO much. I love how you explained everything in a scientific/mathematical way, so easy to understand. I do my own nails at home and this was so helpful.

    Hi Liz. I want to thank you again for the very well way of explaining that you use to teach us. I just did my nails using all the techniques that you have been teaching us and let me tell you: I can stop looking at my nails. They look so beautiful and well done and it is all thank to your videos. I never thought that I would be able to do my own nails so well. They look better than when I go to the nail salons. I will never stop thanking you. You are awesome 👏.

    Thank you so much! I think so many people wish they had a big sister, aunt, mother or best friend like you in their life as they were growing up 😂👸💕 and not just for the nail knowledge but just for your general awesomeness, like your work ethic is amazing, the dedication you have, the professionalism.. the way you talk.. the vibe would have rubbed off and had a good, positive affect. Thankfully, even these video's have a positive effect so THANK YOUUUU 😘😘😘😘

    I wonder if you still see comments on this old video. But I wanna ask my question where I think it belongs to 😁 So: Is there a kind of rule for how high an apex should be related to the length of the nail? I’ve heard: the longer, the thicker the apex has to be. But 🤪 how thick?
    Love your videos and I keep watching them again and again. I learn something every single time. You are such a great teacher. Just amazing ☺️
