All of this just for Southgate to play trippier left back again
đ
đ
I know. What a waste of time laughđ "England must" "Southgate has to" "Gareth will have seen" It isn't going to change. If it hasn't now it never will. If it didn't change at HT at 1-0 or 65 mins at 1-0 down it's not going to change. It's not going to change. Ever. Ever. Ever.
Isnt trippier injured?
đ
Personally love the idea of going full brexit with Kane and Toney as a front 2 and getting those long balls outđ
Especially with someone like Pickford who is decent at long balls, and Trent and Saka with the crosses
england will play four four fucking two
@@Humungojerry it would actually suit England tbh. Gordon and Saka as the wide midfielders. You could see that working really well.
â@@mrwabbit9576 No idea why people are so against it, sometimes simple is better. Southgate and his coaches clearly aren't capable of implementing highly complex tactical systems, why not just play simple?
â@@mrwabbit9576 No. Not at all. England REALLY struggle in midfield playing 442, against good sides I would put Toney up with Kane, tho, 3412.
39 minutes and not one single mention of Gordon.
Maybe because heâs shite and Newcastle are tinpot?
Gordon is made for this game. Reason being hes our pacest winger right now . Switzerland play a 3-4-3. And we need to stretch their back 3 with wing play. Thats the obvious tactics but Im confident Southgate will not do this.
Shhhhh. Don't jinx it. If no one says his name, Southgate might play him.
Gordon played against Iceland but we still lost. Gordon was useful in the previous games because we were playing Trippier.
@@Best_game59 Trippier is practically stapled on in Gareth's mind. Definitely starts.

bellingham- get in behind/ free roam
foden- play with trent
rice- stay back
mainoo- link trent and foden triangles
saka and trent - OVERLAP!!!!!!!!!!!
konsa/ stones/ walker- stay back
Subs:
palmer for foden at 65
gordon or eze for saka at 75
toney for kane at 75-80
Big fan of this
This is my exact team as well
This is the one
Saka canât go off for them two more likely returning Shaw
This should be the team. Defensively sound and attacking with real threat. đ
I like it but I think I'd swap Bellingham and Foden over, so you have Foden coming inside on his left foot rather than his right, and you have Bellingham getting on the end of Trents crosses at the back post
I agree, that makes way more sense
Agreed with this, although is there a worry that a RHS of Trent and Foden will be much narrower and therefore we have the same issues with width that we had before?
Iirc, belli used to play LM at Birmingham, right? That and the fact that Foden has been useless on the left I feel like that makes sense
@@pottsy7773 Trent will overlap if you ask him to. He did that for Liverpool for years before he did the inverted thing.
Foden will start wide and then make runs into the middle, Trent will start deep and make runs forward. My biggest worry is about the speed on that side but not much other option
I agree foden right sided cutting in. Plus bellingham long shot cutting in on right like el classico. Plus either Jude or Phil shoot the other Plus kane will track for keep to thumble. Also maino and rice for the cut through run to open kane up too. Great formation few changes and magicalđ
For the love of god Foden is NOT a left sided player! Gordon is a living breathing LW who would stretch the pitch way better than Foden
If Southgate plays Trippier, Dunk and Gallagher then there needs to be some kind of intervention; he needs to be sectioned.
Well he's not playing Dunk. I hate southgate but it's clear that Konsa is the next CB. You've seen Konsa come on multiple times in place of a defender. Dunk has never come on.
You're right but that's obviously not gonna happen though.
Itâs crazy how drunk I got playing âtake a shot when James mentions Austriaâ while watching this video.
Itâs insane that we are putting saka at lab in stead on Gordon and actual lw who is a work horse.
Gordon isnât going to start after playing 2 minutes. Also we need to play long balls to by pass the Switzerland press and I think a Toney- Kane front 2 would be best
heâs right footed though no? creates a similar problem to trippier in the crossing department
Saka is left footed. Only other left footer is Gomez who has played no minutes.
@@carlindzikiti2380Gordon is better on his weak side and goes down the line a lot more than Trippier. It would be better
@@MolloyDadda247Luke Gordon must be left footed as well?
As a non englishman, I dont understand how someone like trent isn't starting. For the sake of argument, his "defending abbilites" should not be the single factor to why he's not playing, especially when walker has been so poor, also when you have someone like gomez who played almost the whole season as leftback isn't playing, also gomez was part of strongest defense in the league in 2019 and 2020.
Different system. Compromised position.
Better players in both positions where he is 75% both positions.

@limstanleyrhb7420 henderson. Turn of your top six victim complex for once
Reckon we donât need to change anything, play awfully, and still beat Switzerland.
Theyâre better than us as a team, lovely on the ball, nice patterns of play. But weâll still have more of the ball and theyâre not particularly clinical. So play shit again and weâll probably sneak a 1-0 or win on penalties.
Shithouse our way to the final đ
The fact that we're seriously talking about playing *Bukayo Saka* at left back shows just how fundamentally wrong Southgate got the selection, imo. Taking Shaw was a huge risk, but I understood it - but taking Shaw without a clear replacement, similar in style who won't require the rest of the system to change around him? Absolutely insane. Straight up bonkers. Hobbled us from the start, and like Jim I've been pro-Southgate up until this tournament.
Saka played left back frequently a few years back buddy
@@jakejones2818and? Are you that dense that you canât understand the point he is making? Why would Southgate only take one left back who isnât available until at earliest, the quarter finals
It's not really left back, he would be more of a winger in that position which does work, love it or hate it, it works better with him over that side of the pitch, he is forced to go inside on the right.
@@cuD123 saka played left back frequently a few years back buddy
â@jackgreenway4646 Only with the ball lol. When we don't have the ball, a wing back sits in line with the rest of the back line, making a 5 across the back. That's literally why it's called "left wing back", because you play 2 different positions depending on when you have the ball, and when you don't.
I usually hate a back 3, but you've convinced me! Saka at LWB and Trent at RWB gives us width on both sides, while getting a world class player on the pitch in a position he knows (trent) with walker to cover behind. Saka should be able to play high enough that he doesn't feel like he's playing left back and has forgotten what to do, also perfect for Trent's big switches to Saka. Like many others, I'd play Foden right, with Mainoo and Trent, then Bellingham left with Saka and rice, creates some lovely triangles on both sides and plenty of back post threat. Such a shame Southgate won't do any of this... đđđ€đœđ€đœđ€đœ
Southgate can play whatever dream line up or formation you want, he's a tin pot PE teacher who can't coach the team to play properly so it's irrelevant.
Southgate has been to the Euro finals and semi final in a world cup, he surely knows something.
Hahahah
Gordon played as LWB for Everton several times before , the boy worked his socks off with and without the ball , he can be the best option for LWB
Makes the most sense to me.
Palmer or Foden from the start off the right, not too fussed.
Pickford
TAA Stones Konsa Gomez
Foden Mainoo Rice Saka
Jude
Kane
In-Possession:
Pickford
Stones Konsa Gomez
Mainoo Rice
TAA Foden Jude Saka

Thoughts on playing both of the Liverpool boys and changing to a 4-3-3 and playing like Arsenal and Liverpool do?
GK - Pickford
LB - Gomez
LCB - Stones
RCB - Guehi
RB - TAA
DM - Rice
LMF - Bellingham
RMF - Foden
LW - Gordon
ST - Watkins
RW - Saka
This obviously plays as a 3-2-2-3 in possession and a 4-5-1 out of.
Guehi is ineligible to play because of yellow cards
Reading the suggestions in the comments, I've realised that almost any new line-up that attempts to solve the tactical problems would be an improvement. It's such a shame that it feels so unlikely that Southgate will change anything.
3-4-1-2
Pickford
Konsa - Stones - Gomez
Trent - Bellingham - Rice - Saka
Foden
Toney - Kane
Bring on Palmer, Gordon, Eze & Watkins if we need more pace and directness.
Yh you absolutely donât have a clue. No Mainoo after his last game is shocking, and including Joe Gomez over walker is genuinely awful
â@@kylenorwood261 He must be a Liverpool fanđ
@@kylenorwood261 Mainoo is caught out of position too often for my liking. I'm actually including Gomez over Trippier because Gomez has been a much more capable LB over the last 9-12 months and a preferable option at CB to Dunk; it's Konsa who I'd start over Walker. Gomez and Konsa give you added size and strength, you don't sacrifice too much pace and are better in the air than Trippier and Walker (who I think has been average at best this tournament). The back 3 will allow Trent and Saka to get forward without compromising defensive solidity, Bellingham can easily affect the game from a deeper position and won't get in the way of Foden and by playing Toney up front with Kane it provides physical presence and an out-ball while still allowing Kane to drop deeper (where he could have Toney, Saka and Trent ahead of him to pass to).
Have a nice day, Kyle.
â@c1520 good team. Don't say it too loud about walker though cos apparently your not allowed to criticise him cos he can run fast. He's been awful for England in every game this tournament
â@@kylenorwood261walker is a terrible defender but people like you think he's world class cos he can run fast. He's been 1 of the biggest liabilities this whole tournament
We have to have someone who will run behind. That means either Watkins or Gordon need a place somewhere in the team.
Every defense knows we don't go behind so they can squeeze us and be compact between the lines which is where our best players like to be (Foden, Palmer, Bellingham etc.).
Exactly. FRANCE ,SPAIN AND PORTUGAL all play with strong wingers on both flanks.Southgate is a Bafoon
Gordon is the answer on the left. Heâll keep us wide, decongest the pitch, run in behind, press, support Kane etc. Literally the easiest decision ever.
Here my setup: Sack Southgate and hire Potter (or at least Dyche)
James does several hours more work on tactics than Gareth does. He hasn't noticed we don't attack down the left yet.
Or we are playing Switzerland not Austria
Im from Switzerland and i support my Country but I am also a big england fan, and its so sad that they played so bad in the last games. It wouldnt be a nice win if england acts so stupidly. (in switzerland we would say âdusseligâ).
Bowen is not only an extremely efficient attacker, he is also one of the best defensive wingers about with an immense work rate so he would work perfectly on that right wing back
Gomez instead of Guehi and Saka to left back is definite. Then the three options are indeed 5 at the back with Trent. Gordon on the left with Foden on the right or Palmer on the right. Then there remains the option of moving Bellingham next to Rice/Mainoo and Foden on the ten with Gordon and Palmer on the wings or again 5 at the back with Trent instead of Gordon.
Best XI that he should have played from the beginning (if weâre talking about balance) is:
Pickford/Ramsdale
Trent-Guehi-Stones-Gomez
Mainoo-Rice
Saka-Foden/Jude-Gordon
Kane/Watkins
Bench Bellingham and you solve all England problems.
Bellingham is the reason England is still in the race, body!
Bench Bellingham and weâd be out of the euros
â@@bishaar100 we wouldn't need a last minute winner if he wasn't playing! He's ruined the whole team and obviously the other players are annoyed with him
Wonderful analysis!!!
As I said at the beginning of the tournament on your podcast. Saka has to play lb/wb(need a left footer for width, how often has Trippierbeen on.the final third only to have to cut back?), Gordon has to play( only player in the squad who runs in behind). You ask Walker/Gomes tuck in to add the defensive security. Trent starts in the middle but drifts out right so he offers the width and open up his passing range, which with Gordon playing will greatly increase. Bellingham has to play b2b. Then either Foden or Palmer to drift in. Kane will get more space without having to come so deep because defences will be wary of Gordon in behind.
I also said this at the beginning but 100 IQ Jim laughed it off
Think walker might suddenly have an excellent game especially with this formation, means he doesn't have to fully involved in build up and can do more defensive work and recovery runs which is what he does
0 mention of Watkins? đ€Ł The disrespect is crazy... He has been unreal this season.
Toney has missed half the season, then came back into the Brentford squad and looks average, he hasn't even scored for Brentford since February! He only got thrown on the pitch yesterday to get a competivie cap.
Meanwhile you have Watkins winning playmaker of the season award, and being of the main reasons Villa got Champions League football.
Wouldn't 5-3-2 be better?
Trent Walker Stones Konsa Saka
Palmer Rice Bellingham
Toney Kane
Yes this is the one and Iâm glad to see more people saying it
I think the main thing that was missed with the new formation is that Bellingham can play left forward as heâs used to that side and Foden right forward to which his played more of for city coming into the 10. This would suit the players more. And Palmer coming off the bench of course
I think the 3-4-3 is a good way to go. It has a lovely balance.
I'd actually swap Bellingham and Foden, but I guess it doesn't matter they can be fluid.
I like the Konsa version, purely for a bit more aerial ability.
if anyone watched 2020 and 2022 replays, it says a lot about what we are missing..... Sterling and Rashford
Interesting to see that progressive pass stat for Rice. When this Euro's he has only been passing backwards or sideways. He has been dreadful. Anyone have an explanation?
Gareth Southgates instructions/tactics
Pretty much 100% what I want to see... Gareth actually knows this system as well, since it's what got us to the 2018 semi final đ€·ââïž
Foden or Palmer as the right side attacking mid for me and Bellingham on the left, more threat coming inside on their strongest foot with an outlet on the overlapđ
Its either this, or pure brexit-ball. Kane and Toney up top. Midfield three. Compact defense, long balls, hold up play, counter attacking football and loads of balls into the box. Would stink the place out, but at least it would be structured đ
Although it's not ideal, with this squad I do think Saka at LWB makes sense. Madness that it comes to this though.
Surprised you didnât really mention Aebischerâs tendency to attack as a number 10 with Rodriguez then holding the width for him
James, can I get your opinion on this please?
We go to a 352 (3412)
GK - Pickford
CB's - Walker, Stones ans Konsa
LWB - Saka
RWB - Trend
CM - Rice and Mainoo
CAM - Jude
ST - Kane and Toney
If we was to line up like this (and yea it would be a little risk) I feel we will wipe the floor with Switzerland, and probably beats most if not all teams out there. This line-up would pretty much have everything needed to win
The 343 is exactly what I thought we should go to once we knew Shaw wasn't coming back. If u play 343 it gets trent foden and jude in, after watching them for 4 games I think we should try 2 up top and play 352 with Bellingham 10 toney and kane partnering up top. In this game especially trent and saka crosses onto them 2 could work
Quite simple. Keep kicking the ball at schar in the penalty box. Eventually he will hit it into his own net.
đđcanât agree more, or play behind him
i'm not english so coming from a more neutral point of view - Bellingham has been poor. If you want to have 2 attacking mids somebody has to run beyond Kane. Everything is to feet and nobody is stretching the field. I would think of Palmer on the wing and saka in a wingback/flying fb up the left. Saka has not been good enough to keep his spot. Foden needs to come inside and Trippier needs to keep width
Rice also has to try and pass forward more
The USMNT just fell on their face so now I just want to see good soccer/football as a neutral. Entertain me and try and score before the 90th minute. There is way too much attacking talent in the English squad to be this bad at attacking
Gordon on left. He knows how to play against Schar and will track back for defense. Foden right side more dangerous with his left foot. Kane more for the right post. Bellingham more left to link with Gordon. Saka or Gomes left back.
Amazing ending to the video.
hahahaha
I skipped all of it because of your comment hahaha đ
Funny how he cut that superchat off - the truth hurts
If Trent doesn't start RWB then there's no chance with Southgate ever recognising his abilities. RWB is his perfect position!!!
I picked an 11 before watching that looked quite similar, same shape but no Foden or Saka, not easy decisions but purely because something radical needs to happen now as England really have no right to still be in the competition. Just thought Saka looked spent, also didnât feel comfortable leaving out Foden as feel heâs actually been decent, but no chance of Bellingham being dropped. I went for Palmer on right, alongside Jude behind Kane with Gordon and Trent wide, but inclined to agree with you now. Saka is world class and offers more defensive quality/shape vs Gordon and suits the back post strategy mentioned. Thatâs why I went for Palmer for those in-swinging left foot crosses, and the fact changes are necessary and he has earned the right to have a go. However, you are probably right, I just fear that without revitalising the team with the hunger/energy of Palmer/Gordon and Trent from the start the game could be gone before they ever even get chance to be super subs, especially if just thrown on in desperation with 30 mins or less to go. 3 at the back is imperative, Walker/Trippier have offered nothing going forward and weâve suffered massively. Always been with Southgate, but this is last chance saloon at this tournament and minor tweaks will not bring sufficient uptick in performance. Itâs try something different or the plane home.
respectfully you've got just about eveything wrong so far. if trent finally plays at right back like he should've from game 1 - then it would be criminal not to play saka RW so he could finally have some decent service
It's time for Trent to invert from left back. Gordon at left wing stretching the pitch ahead of him. Trent whipping it in to Kane, Toney, and Jude box-crashing.
Love the analysis James and love 3-4-3. I think Konsa will play at the back; I'd love to see Wharton instead of Rice as his passing is v progressive. The front 3 is where I take the main issue - you say we have to get around the Swiss and stretch them, and then you go and pick the same old, same old.
My front 3 would be Gordon, Watkins and Palmer.
Love the idea of a 3-5-2 against Switzerland who need to be beat in the midfield. I also think this is a game for Konsa to come in. Heâs been great across the back line for England when heâs played
Especially with GuĂ©hi suspended. Iâd start Watkins alongside Kane then bring Toney on to finish off the game. Watkins is a good starter, always active and energetic to wear down Akanji, then Toney is exactly the kind of dynamism and precision you need to seal the deal.
Why dont england play 3-2-4-1 walker(lcb), stones ,guehi(rcb) trent inverting into midfield with rice, gordon, bellingham, foden, saka and kane up top can defend in a 4-4-2 with bellingham dropping alongside rice with foden as 10. Solves all england problems, Trent being more progressive then rice (also threat combined with gordon running behind), space in the left occupied by gordon while strtching the field, foden as no 10, and bellingham allowed to crash the box late (becaudse of trent inverting to hold rcm space)
Been saying go to a back 3 since before the bloody tournament.
But heck even with all this discussion over it, all gareth could of done if he was sticking to a 4-2-3-1 is simply SWITCH Foden and Saka over and you actually get A LITTLE bit more balance. He couldn't even identify that lol.
You have to switch Foden's and Bellingham's positions in that 3-4-3, so they go inside on their stronger foot
Whatever the formation is, I think 90% of the fans donât want to see foden start . He has been poor this tournament and in fact he has never been good for England đŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó ż. Personally, I will play 532 for start of the game, midfield rice Bellingham and Gallagher, Kane and Watkins up top , Trent and Gordon wingbacks , Trent can play those diagonal crossing field passes to Gordon . You have so many options on the bench when the game goes on.
We have to get our press right against Switzerland (that's even if Gareth wants to press). Switzerland will be set up similar to Denmark, although probably more fluid with their positioning. If we play the same system with Rice & Mainoo instructed to stay deeper and cover the full-backs, we have to make sure Xhaka & Freuler are marked and we don't give their centre-backs so much time. It's 4v5 but it can be done if we funnel them down one side. I'd just tell Kane to sit on Akanji, with Foden & Saka tucking in and jumping up to the wide CB's depending which side they go down. Against Denmark, our midfield was deep, and our front four didn't know who to mark, when to press and what was behind them.
If Southgate was braver, we could go man-to-man and more of a 4-3-3. The front 3 press their back 3, Bellingham & Mainoo press Xhaka & Freuler, with Rice sweeping up behind and the full-backs jumping up to their wing-backs.
When we have the ball, can we outnumber there 2 in midfield? Or like James says, get down the sides with pace and maybe more direct play. But we don't get that with Trippier & Foden down the left. Gordon surely has to play, or Saka down that left side. 3-4-3 might be a good option, with Trent & Saka providing the width and crosses. I'd have Bellingham come in from the left and Foden from the right to offer some variety. The only concern is we aren't used to playing this system and to try it in a quarter final is risky and could back fire.
You want the best out of Trent to make the team flow? You've got to drop foden, give him Gordon on that left hand side for a runner in behind and the team has a hole new creative stretch
Actually what seitzerland want is the opposition to press them. It is kind of bating them into press. If you do it as bad as italy does it you are done but even if you press as well as germany and austria youâll have problems since switzerland has a really strong build up play.
Ok, but nobody has seen any good press from england this tournament.
Which is why we need to just play long balls up to two strikers, Brexit style, and bypass all their tactics
james is right , saka on the right works for arsenal look at his goals tally but for england he is playing on the wrong flank his pull backs on his wrong foot have been poor to hard or behind the striker
Starting to wonder if Gordon is invisible to all. Especially considering how you set up the way to beat the Swiss.
How do you not have a job for a top club as a tactical analyst fella? Another great video - lets hope the England camp are watching.
Because coaching football is not chess with 11 pieces, and anyone can use stats and generate an opinion.
@@dans2971 Didn't say coach, clubs all have tactical analysts like this. Fair comment about 'anyone', but this guy does it very well - 340k subs for a reason!

Realistically 5 at the back is the only way you get Bellingham and Foden working together. What cover do we have at wingback though if thereâs no shaw
I think foden could be dropped for Switzerland. Might be time to try out something different.
He's a great sub option if Bellingham looks tired đ
Toney 9, kane 10, parmer left or right, saka left or right, belly play off kane, rice anchor. Whatever you want to do in defence.
What is the name of the website that you are using?!
I've said elsewhere to play 343, however, I'd play a different midfield and front 3
Walker, stones, gomez
Trent, bellingham (8), Rice, Saka
Palmer, kane or toney, Gordon
If you're getting the best out of trent, I'd want Gordon instead of foden to break the line
The answer is to drop Kane but Gareth doesn't have the authority and confidence to do it, Portugal have suffered with the same problem in Ronaldo.
32:15 One thing I hope we get out of this tournament is for people to stop mixing us up with Austria and Sweden đ€Ł
We need to win the midfield battle which is a massive ask with how well Xhaka has influenced them.
That means we need intelligent players who arent going to let their heads drop and accept a low block. Ive not been happy with how willing rice is to drop deep. He comes too deep to collect the ball when our cbs can pass. It forces the team into being pressed even more into our half.
Mainoo has been fantastic. I honestly wouldnt mind seing Wharton with him tbh. I just feel like he wont so essily fall into psssive football like Rice does.
They use wide areas really well too. Id keep walker snd put Gomez as LB. Tripper will get torn up on that left side. Hes out of position far too often and is defensively really lacking at the moment.
There's a big chance Xhaka is unfit, unfortunately for the Swiss, another stroke of luck for England - most likely he plays with injections or something stupid but there is no way he will be 100%.
@@dvwut even if he's not 100% he will play. The regular season is over and he knows if he rests and they lose, it's all for nothing.
A whole video with no mention of Gordon on the left, his natural position. He could bomb down to the touchline with back post crosses or cut in. He can work Toblerone triangles with the best of them, he'd probably be playing in front of teammate Trippier. Trent's diagonal balls to the left side would be oh so reminiscent of Schar's long balls for Newcastle.. oh and of course he's going up against Schar, someone he's used to. I thought he deserved a mention. Saka's not really distinguished himself on the right so far for those attacking runs and pinpoint crosses.
@@stewartfraser2740 Gareth doesn't coach in triangles so we don't play them. And Trent cant defend in a game where he's going to to have difficult defensive duels against Vargas which he won't be winning.
I was idly thinking about how to play and came up with a system similar to this, three at the back and wing-backs. I like two up top, Toney and Watkins, to occupy their back three and push them back.
But we know Southgate will make minimal changes, the same stodgy system, and it'll be another two hours of torture to watch. Unbelievably frustrating.
I think I got the answer back 3 sort off of konsa stones walker
lm saka cm of rice mainoo rm of trent foden at 10 and bellingham in that false 9 and kane up top lots of crossing ability plus should be decent defensively .
Weird you say Switzerland might dominate possession. England average possession 59.4%, Switzerland 46.6%
3-4-3 would be a big gamble when none of them play that system for clubs.
Gordon is much more used to playing left than Saka
3-5-2 with Toney and Kane. Long balls up to Toney and knock downs to Bellingham and Kane. With crosses from Saka and Trent
100% agree. Except Iâd have Watkins to start the game and Toney to finish
This solves the left side problem, but there's still no pace in behind. A 3-4-1-2 would be far better. Watkins in to run in behind, either Foden or Bellingham make way (they've both been rubbish for 4 games so I don't understand the clamour to get them both in the side)
Kane has always needed the pace of Rashford or Sterling going beyond him.
That back 3 is disgusting. Itâs simpler than that. If Foden is incapable of hugging the touch line then bench him for Gordon.
Play Shaw if healthy if not play TAA at LB so that he can whip in the crosses
Letâs face it James. These tactics you show are great etc but as we all know, weâre going to end up watching a game of absolute winging it, desperate defending and hoping with a bit of luck the ball drops kindly for us to score. Because thereâs been absolutely nothing southgate has shown us he knows how to control a game. Itâs shambles and a traveesrsty that these generational talents are being coached by someone who hasnât a fucking clue. There are Iâm sure international managers who watch these England games and think I could turn this team of players into one of the best international teams ever. But unluckily for us as a nation the English FA still peddle southgate as the answer
YKB
You know in your heart it'll be same side bar suspensions\injuries. Gareth didn't learn before, won't learn nowđź
Can the FA do us all a favour and just hire James
James: Let's go Back three
Southgate: Nah, BACK FIVE
A back 3 and a back 5 are the same thing you doughnut.
I like that team James. The only thing I would change is switching Bellingham and Foden around. Foden is better on that right side cutting in and same for Bellingham on the the left.
Bit concerned James has looked at the draw wrong and developed a master plan to beat Austria
Stop building my tactical hopes up
As long as the back line + rice speed up play, thatâll solve a lot too. Canât be having all this slow backwards and sideways passing giving them all the time in the world to reset and start their oresw
Gordon for Foden. This lineup all the front 3 will still be dropping too deep instead of running in behind.
I think we should try a 3-4-2-1
GK: Pickford
LWB: Saka
LCB: Gomez
CB: Stones
RCB: Walker
RWB Trent
CM: Rice
CM: Mainoo
LAM: Foden
RAM: Bellingham
ST: Kane
Thoughts?
EDIT: Had no idea Jimmy was gonna suggest the same team haha! Really want to see this
352 with trent and one of saka or palmer on the left. Tony can do the striker work so you don't have to hurt kane's pride by dropping him. Tony is used to the system and can cause havok going to wide areas ti recive direct balls. Trent gets players to hit with his passes
Palmer as a wingback should be fun đ€Ł
Conor Gallagher can be the key tactical player into this match to tighten on Xhaka I believe
If they are going to give that much room to the wide men its crying out for palmer.
First problem, GS and tactics. Second problem same as the first. Itâs crying out for a change of shape 3-5-2 but GS is clueless. Square pegs round holes. Assuming fitness: Walker Stoned Gomez, Rice Wharton holding then Palmer Bellingham Gordon/Eze up top Watkins and Kane. Exudes pace with Watkins means they have to play deeper. Control MF or Xhaka will run riot. No hope if this itâs GS.
Not the Toblerone of Doom! đ
I'd much rather see Konsa as the right center back instead of walker who has been shocking.
All this talk of playing quick, stretching play and who to play on th left and not one mention of Gordon. Madness. Iâve said the 343 all along but the left of the 4 should 1000% be Gordon.
Heâs underestimating Ricardo Rodriquez way too much
We're playing Switzerland not Austria! You mentioned Austria several times. They are not even in the tournament any more
Iâve been meaning to ask.. Whatâs up with the year 4 summer holidays hair cut?
Odds on GS will play 10 of the same 11 as last time. He has no plan B, or plan A for that matter.
