It would be great if someone would address the fact that centerpoint’s outage map has been unavailable for 2 weeks even before this… when will they be held accountable and have penalties for failing on even the most basic functions outside of a crisis?

Depending on the government to help doesn't work. Living in large cities that are poorly managed doesn't help. You'd figure infrastructure would be improved because Houston has hurricanes every year, where does that money go??

New Houstoninan. I come from the Kansas City metro (Kansas side) and we have buried our power lines in most areas . It’s insane to not have buried power lines in a hurricane zone.

Much of the city is basically a flood plain and it’s extremely expensive to bury power lines in flood plain areas, especially when you consider the grid size, Houston is 4th largest city in the US now I think. I’m from IN originally and we have very little buried there but it’s a very rural area with only a couple thousand people.

What about Montgomery County? Major damage and haven’t heard them mentioned at all in the media or officials. We took a direct hit also. But thank you to our officials, first responders and linemen for all of your hard work. God Bless you!

Hah! Not in my neighborhood. I am elderly and no one has offered any help. I stood in my driveway among the debris checking status and ppl just stare and walk by. No humanitarian help here at all.
