- City of Galveston Mayor Craig Brown gave and update Tuesday morning on Hurricane Beryl's impacts and recovery efforts on the island.
They all should have been prepared NO matter what. They are our leaders and should have had a backup plan. It's better to be safe than sorry.

It is called rapid intensification. It seems that storms of late, specially in the last 2 to 3 years can grow quickly either in open water or as they approach the coast because of the extremely warm water and low wind shear leaving little warning to quickly changing intensity. The storms will catch everybody by surprise in addition eight or so inches of sea level rise is in the distance of the storm surges and the amount of water in places where prior equal intensity did not reach. This all exponentially increase the cost of insurance. I am not sure how much longer this can go on before there is no insurance in these areas.
NWS said to treat it like a Cat 2.
HOW was he caught by surprised?? Much discussion had taken place prior to the arrival of Beryl. Best to always to prepare for the worst cases.
What is wrong with these people? Haven’t they ever heard that you’re supposed to prepare for the worst and hope for the best? This is Inexcusable!!!

That’s good advice but many people are barely surviving all the Inflation! Many many people!
