They need to stop saying please stay off the road and say you will be billed for any expense occurred for having to rescue your dumb ars.
💯
If employers would allow people to come in when they can, it would make a difference. But when they threaten to fire them, there is no choice but to get on the road. America loves a hero!
@@lucycan6363exactly, I had a friend that they called in 😮I was shocked.
You have no idea why that guy was even out there. The only dumbass here is the one making assumptions. People have jobs that don't stop even during hurricanes. That "idiot" was an oil field worker trying to get home. He was driving in from Portland.
In USA i guess your taxes pay for it ...
that dude said " i got a lifted truck. I can make it through." and bamm.
Nah probably got tired of paying too much of a truck and can’t trade it in
@JJ-gr7th , of he doesn't have gap insurance ( if he still owes on that truck), he is screwed anyway.
Dat "bamm"💢 😂
Anyone who attempts to drive through deep water and gets stuck, should lose their licenses and have to work with a Volunteer Fire Department.
One foot of water is enough. Your own tires will help the buoyancy and with a couple feet of water you got your own "boat". The only problem is the steering is difficult since you don't have a rudder. Straight to the point; don't freaking do it.
That's what happens when when people don't listen to the warnings.
Just take the power of mother nature for granted and then regret it.
Not to mention 288 @OST (Old Spanish Trail) all the way to 610 is the most notorious (flood prone) corridor In all of Houston.
1300 people died in Katrina
Yeah but most of them weren't people that ignored the warnings they were blindsided overtaken by a massive
Almost unpredictable storm system.
They’re not 💯 in the head 😂
@@JohnCONORt1000 yeah it's a terrible disease
All businesses should have been closed for the safety of employees. Even if you were at work and got off should have prepared to spend the night at your job until roads were cleared.
Don't say ALL businesses. Hospitals can't close. They have to stay open for people like this

Yeah . . . 🤔

Science has been warning people
I kind of feel like he should get a ticket for this.
I feel like that'd incentivize people trying to escape on their own, such as by jumping into the water to swim to shore. While that may work, the waters are likely much stronger than they appear and would look to unnecessary deaths.
It's unnecessary for him to be out there like that, but the focus should be on helping him out as they did rather than penalizing the behavior, imo.
A big hefty ticket.
@@dawn822he might had emergency
@@dawn822 Glad when people who don't understand circumstances create penalties and judgements for others.
@@thes4very5 I know right? People judging others and acting like they know EVERYTHING is really arrogant and annoying, I agree. 👊
He must have forgotten there was a hurricane today.
When will people learn
Lack of common sense, the Darwinian effect, who knows, he's a big dummy and an a-hole for putting other people in danger trying to save him
Nope
Survival of the fittest
Their insurance companies shouldn't give them a dime.
Never
Putting the first responders in danger, jeez
Literally what they signed up for
It’s their job
@SnifBelch Same thing as putting them in danger when they come to put out fires, jeez
no... they put themselves in danger by choosing their job... needlessly or not, this is what they chose to do... for example, i did not choose to do that job, therefore, i am watching this while sitting in a warm and dry environment... choices, you'll get used to them as you grow up...
That’s what they get paid for?
It is incredible the degree of unconsciousness of some citizens who believe they are characters from a Marvel series
I call it something else. But I would be put in you tube jail for saying it.
Even the X-Men try to stay outta high water😂but seriously, I would probably drown.
I say the same thing about excessive gun owners.
Nah they’re definitely DC comics related
DEWs.
I’ve seen that same stretch of road get flooded like that since Allison in 2001 🤦🏿♂️
I had to take 288 M-Fri. back in the late 90’s to attend school at the UT Dental Branch and had to immediately exit one time due to high water that was obviously too deep to pass through. (Other vehicles wouldn’t go thru it either) And nothing has changed since then! (25 yrs) It wasn’t near as bad as in this video.. but still not passable! (And not during a Hurricane either)
Yes I just don’t understand why they even attempt to get on 288 knowing it floods
Man I remember Tropical storm Allison!! That bitch showed no mercy
Every. Time. It rains
They build many of the roads and freeways to flood in hopes that the neighborhoods don't. This is honestly part of the county flood control program.
There's always a few idiots that think they are smarter than everyone else.
It isn't even as if that is the ONLY route, either. There are PLENTY of surface streets that can safely get you from point a to point b.
You play stupid games you win stupid prizes! Bill him or anyone else they rescue for 100% of the expense and then fine them as well!
That breeze feels nice!
Thank God first responders were able to save this man. One wrong move he could have easily been swept away by the water, hit his head, been knocked out cold and drowned. Every life is precious and deserves to be saved. Thank you to those that risk their lives to help others and God bless them.
I will never understand why people drive into water then expect others to risk their lives to save them.
How many Texans saw the bank and said, “Just swim!”
What a woozz
He could have walked to the embankment and the firefighters could have too! I drive that highway everyday, except today, because I knew it would flood like it always does!
He could easily be swept away..that’s what can happen during a storm surge. 4 feet of water in a surge will take a vehicle away think about a human..
Thank God he was rescued! God Bless him. My prayers out for everyone to stay safe in this storm.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Jesus Christ please help those who are in need . amen
First responders should make at least 6 figures man much respect for them thank you for what you do
Why do people insist on driving through water that is more than 6" deep? As soon as it gets deeper, turn around and go back. If you know your freeways and streets tend to flood during storms, stay off the roadways period. I'd purchase a raft, kayak, or small boat if i lived in such areas and put my vehicles up on higher ground. I have a thing about living too close to water and flood zones. And these people who do not need to be on the road or driving thru water more than 6" high should be charged for these rescues unless you can prove you had an emergency.
I don't even drive in 6" water. If weather advisor or news says it's dangerous, I stay home. I make it very important to keep at least 2 weeks supply of everything I need.....never know what will happen
I think a lot of people underestimated this storm. After the damages I seen, Beryl couldn't have been a category 1 !
Where in the hell was he going in the middle of the "storm of the century?"..
PLEASE STAY SAFE PEOPLE. WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOU ALL. ❤
I live in Florida and I heard the warnings people don’t listen
Dial that number that you see on that pickup truck!
It’s probably his company 😂
Stupid people you knew there was a hurricane coming. No one should be on the road and you put the rescue in their life in danger. People start listening when they say to stay safe inside your house and off roads.
leave it to an obnoxious jerk in a 4 door pickup....
Tell that to the stupid employers who expect people to die getting to work
It is a tropical storm. It lost power and not technically a hurricane.
Guess again
@@fightlikabrave don't pay attention to news? is that not that definition of stupid in a hurricane? LOL
Oh Come On, Houston. You people know that Houston’s roads go underwater with 1/4” of rain. Why do you insist on going on the roads and needing rescue every single time??? 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Great coverage! I’m glad he was able to get help 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Hwy 288 gets high water often. I had to make an immediate exit from 288 back in 1997 or 98 when water was too deep to pass through. So this would certainly not surprise me 25 yrs later. Nothing has changed.

Wow, I am sure that alot of people knew of the damages Hurricane Beryl did to the Caribbean islands, why don't people listen and either go to shelters before the hurricane reaches or stay at home, why venture out in a dangerous hurricane and put yourself and others at risk? Lives were lost in the Caribbean. Come on folks let good sense prevail.
All these self-righteous comments, how about, "Hey, so glad to see he is safe now!"
You can replace the truck but you can’t replace a life! There’s a good example of someone thinking they could drive through Texas floods and found out the hard way
Everyone needs to learn how to swim in Houston. Specially if you go out there in the middle of a hurricane 😮
Oh he def knows how to swim
😮😮
@sh🤔🤔🤔tfvan8084
It's not about knowing how to swim in this situation, it's about the force of currents and possibly being electrocuted.
Swimming does no good in rushing flood water. That's why rescuers are not going near it.

why don't people listen to warnings....way to go fire fighters, your the best !!
If anybody's in the market to buy used car in the months ahead do not buy from any of these states that were affected by the hurricane. Do your due diligence on where this car came from because most likely it's going to be a flood car.

If you’re familiar with the Houston area you know when there’s a significant storm avoid “288 @OST (Old Spanish Trail) to the 610 corridor at all cost. In my 34 years in Houston this is arguably the number #1 (flood prone) area. The Driver should have stayed home. It’s a Cat 1 in Houston. It’s guaranteed to flood lol, ridiculous!
I’d guess that about a third came here within the last year & half, when it was hot & dry. The freak out from Houstonians on the storm chasers channels was abundant between 9pm & 5am when we lost power.
Thank GOD.
How many times do the streets have to flood before Texans learn to not try fording without a four wheeler with a fording kit?
everyone is so excited that you have a 4 wheeler with a fording kit... and we are so impressed with how well you're able to navigate the youtube comments section too... way to go buddy
@@ahhhreelmonsters366 Jealous? I drove the four wheeler when I lived in South Texas. I needed one then.

They’re the biggest pansies… can’t go without electric & internet for an entire day. Someone I know called 911 bc it was hot & she couldn’t sleep.
Just like people in the north has winter gears. Coats, 🧤🧣🧢☂️🥾🥾 shovel, snow blower. Looks like these people would have high water boots, ☂️ rain gear, canoe. Seems like a crazy idea but after a couple of storms you know the items that you will always need. Flood gear might never be needed but when it happens you're ready.
Many years ago I was directing traffic at Katy fwy service road and Post Oak and just north of the intersection the roadway was flooded a few feet deep.Well one young lady insisted she had to go north through the high water even after I informed her it not possible to to traverse the road. Well she had to go and a short time later the same lady came back and tried to tell me I needed to help her get her car out of the roadway. I tried to be as diplomatic as possible and informed her I was assigned to be in the intersection and could not leave but I could call for a wrecker service for her….she was not happy with me.
Be safe as you can everyone. Please don't go into the elements for your automobiles or social media.
'Oh, its just a Cat. 1 and a direct hit. Nothing will happen"
What happened to the lady that was sitting in the trunk of her car?

Looks like lake more than a road, they need boats now.
Somebody's boss made them work today
It will cost the boss for a new truck.
@@bethdavis6863I don't believe he would be my boss anymore. If someone expected me to go out in flooding roads, I wouldn't trust his judgment on anything anymore
Alligators and snapping turtles and fire ants in that water I guarantee it.
I live in Houston and everyone knows not be on Hwy 288 when heavy rains fall. It always fills up with water up to the 16-20 ft overpasses! He could have waded through the water to the embankment like everyone else did who ignored the warnings about Hwy 288! You can plainly see the water is not even over the hood. I used to live in the apartments next to this highway. I was always amused by the number of people who drove down into that submerged section of that highway and ended up swimming to the embankment or sitting on top of the car like this idiot!
Well done 👍🏼
I honestly don't have any remorse for those that still continue to get stuck after being told, warned, and have access to every bit of information that a damn hurricane is headed their way in an area that is notorious for flooding.
The water must be three feet deep!!! OMG!!!

Seems like Houston could save time, money and lives by monitoring the bayou levels and shutting these known low level roads down, before the overflow. Like put up barricades to block access to these areas.
Poor drainage planning that never gets fixed
Taxes go up and nothing gets fixed

Take your time getting there and let him think about it
Water gets deeper in a matter of seconds. Even the reporter said it probably wasn't very deep when he first drove through. Flash floods are terrifying. In San Antonio several years ago, a lady saw flood water across a street in front of her. She turned into a parking lot to turn around but the water rose so quickly it swept her car away out of the parking lot. Maybe this guy can't swim. He rolled up his pants legs like he was going to attempt to walk out. That water has a strong current. And, there can be anything in it, snakes or debris.
cue phone calls/texts saying "You can't park there"
Im sure he'll be on so many news casts and videos his embarrassment will be great ...this happens very fast. I just hope noone else dies from this hurricane

I thought she quit Houston 10 years ago! I dropped local Houston news years ago even though I still live here.
If those trucks had the upgraded snorkel kit. And maybe weighted tires to. The air tire isn't good for driving on the bottom. It causes hydroplaning They could drive through that with ease with some upgrades. The cab still probably would get flooded but you would have to upgrade your seals and everything to make it more water tight. But not with standard vehicles once that engine hiccups it pulls water in and that's it. They generally seize up at that point
