  • Had issues with the DeepCool AK500 and DeepCool AK400. Or, was it an issue with the GigaByte X570S AORUS Elite? Neither cooler would fit the Aorus Elite. The Gammaxx GT A-RGB fits. And I ran some thermal tests as well.

    I''ve been acquiring parts for months.
    I thought I was safe, the AK400 was supposed to fit. I wish I had found your video before tonight. I'm way past any return dates, as I have had these parts sitting around for months. So pissed.
    It seems to only be 1-2mm off. Maybe if I rent a grinder from home depot and shave the bracket?
    *UPDATE*
    I "rented" ;) a belt sander from Harbor Freight, shaved a few mm off the side, and now the AK400 fits perfectly. Just a warning in case anyone does what I do, you just have to acknowledge that you are grinding off the nickel plating that keeps it from rusting.

      WOW!!! Nicely done!!! .. Maybe a clear coat nail polish!! May save the rusting over time ...

    From the little look into it, nice rig! Maybe a quick little vid to talk about your setup and what it takes to render vids and your games? Or a quick little discussion about builds, they aren’t too bad to do. I’ve done 2 and getting ready to start planning build 3 for games and CAD. Thanks Salty! 🍻

      Thanks, Joe!! I will do that .. Been doing IT work for over 3 decades and PC building has seen quite the Roller Coaster over the years. One of my biggest clients has an engineering department that utilizes SolidWorks. Quite a serious CAD program to say the least.
      Found some great 'built in' optimization options after doing this video that made this build far better than I thought. No doubt that a follow up is in order!! Appreciate you being here!!

    very nice. im currently runnin a 570 pro4 with a ryzen 7 3700x and rtx 2070 super. not the most high end system but def still kicks some ass on stuff. I put a 32gb memory kit in it too.

    My go-to air cooler is the BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 4. Recommend it for pretty much every build that has the clearance for it.

    Is the ak400 enough for the ryzen 5900 or 5950x?

    • @SaltyReacts
      @SaltyReacts  Před rokem

      The AK400 is rated for up to 220W ... Depending up your motherboard & bios a 5900X can pull close to 250w. I would be more inclined to go with an AK620 for the 5900's ... They aren't very expensive either. amzn.to/41mv40V

      @@SaltyReacts I have a micro atx case not sure if it will fit.

      @@BadWeatherfreak Ah!! Yes. That might be an issue for that one.
      The Noctua NH-U12S: amzn.to/41s0EKA may work for you. Looking through the reviews, people specifically mention using it in a Micro-Atx case. As a bonus, Noctua makes a seriously good cooler.

    Salty, you could try an AIO, if your pockets are deep enough. You would just need to physically write-down the motherboard and CPU. You would probably get, even better thermals. I would not recommend an open loop cooling solution,unless you have the pockets for it and, you want to be, that involved. AIO is a closed-loop cooler, btw.

    • @SaltyReacts
      @SaltyReacts  Před rokem +1

      Oddly enough, since I made this vid - I found that my motherboard has Precision Boost Overdrive 2 built in. Put all of my tinkering & tweaks back to default and enabled PBO to the max settings available (-30) ... I saw a 1.5% boost in performance over the out of box settings with a massive drop in thermals -- hitting a max of 55c. Not sure the differences at that point, going to AIO, would be worth the money. Appreciate the thought though!!

    Wish I had found this video a few days prior to my AK500 arrival. 🤣 Same issue with my Gigabyte X570S board as well. These Gigabyte boards seem very crowded in VRM/power delivery part of the board...compared to my MSI Tomahawks... The Deepcool bracket needed another few mm's , and it would have most likely dropped in place.. Unfortunate, as I wanted to give the AK500 a run

    • @SaltyReacts
      @SaltyReacts  Před rokem

      Yep.. the VRM heat spreader is encroaching probably 2.5mm/3mm too far.

    You're mounting it incorrectly that's why it doesnt fit. You should use the orange spacers for the ak400. 🤦

    • @SaltyReacts
      @SaltyReacts  Před rokem +1

      I tried the orange ones first, then the ones in this vid snippit from the AK500. Both had the same clearance issue.

    • @SaltyReacts
      @SaltyReacts  Před rokem

      Oddly enough, when you cross-reference the build specs, the vertical clearance for all 3 are identical.
      The contact pad is 5mm larger on the 400 over the gammax, but the fin stack is 5mm larger on the gammax. So, performance is on par, if not better with the cheaper cooler.
