Aesop Rock can be SUPER dense to react to since he can use a word where you have to derive first what it means and then what the origins of the word means to get the full picture etc. 😂 (Like in one song The Gates he says: " My planet X, I might bleed green I'm what's under the uncut chia seed" and planet x is also like a hypotethical planet that's also called Nibiru which as a word then means like a crossing point/crossing equanox and he mentions "chia seed" where he means salvia that is often mistaken as psychedelic but is a dissociative but acts essentially like a psychedelic. So he is "under" the effects of it at the crossing point to the other world, salvia being Very hallucinatory drug. You can also take the chia seed as in him talking about his health because the word salvia is from latin and means towards that and the two bars kinda also speaks on it "I might bleed green" which also speaks on confusion/being under the effect and his mind is in in planet x aka with x you can take that not in a good place because it's somewhat the theme of the song. So it is like a bad trip on psychedelics. So 😂 All in all it can get Really confusing and dense opening the whole songs since that's just from two lines)(Then add metaphoras and niche references etc.). Still songs like Rings is the easier ones for reacting, other a bit older one that is very straight-forward because it is story-based and sooo good is No ReGrets. One where is still that cryptogrammig style of writing, but you get the overall message quite easily and it is one of his best songs is None Shall Pass.

I’ve seen a lot of reaction videos on this song (trust me. A LOT.) and one thing I’ve been noticing is how difficult this song is to fully… comprehend. A lot of reactors come away with takes like this, that the internet is all bullshit. I feel like it’s a very easy and simple lesson to come away with, but it’s not what this song conveys, at least not to me. The internet is not just bullshit and bad people, it’s EVERYTHING. It’s beauty and horror. It’s billions of words of discussion about every topic imaginable. It’s lifelong friendships made with people you can never touch. It’s connection to everybody, everywhere. It’s your friends, your family, your enemies, your likes, your dislikes, it’s bullshit, it’s genuineness, it’s everything. If you are introduced to it young enough, like a lot of us were, it can be your entire life. The highs and lows. That’s what makes it so scary, it can grab you and make itself a part of you that feels as difficult to pull away as it would be to pull your arm from your torso. It consumes you, corrupts your mind, body and soul. And day by day it drives us mad. The only thing I can think to compare it to is the One Ring from Lord of the Rings. And I’ve had it in my grasp since I was 9 years old. That’s why I’ve noticed more people who are a bit older not fully comprehend the “you, you, insatiable you” bit of the song, but it makes me cry every single time I hear it. It’s because I know he’s singing to me.

I’m the owner of an online community for about 4 years now, and man this video is a perfect representation The toxicity and sheer insanity of the internet is crazy and definitely got worse as time passed, People get consumed into that and loose so much of their lives and humanity. While at the same time, certain communities manage to create a wholesome environment and the complete opposite of what you could commonly see You can pass from a subject to something entirely different in a click, go to the worst and best of our species, this confusion is honestly hard to deal if you want to keep your moral compass.
