The vampire in this show is awesome. It's the best I've seen I think. It's behavior is spot on too. It's a mix between human and animal-like. I love it. This probably sounds totally nuts, but even since I was diagnosed with cancer I've had even more of an interest in vampire stories and movies, etc., than usual. Probably because in confronting my mortality, part of me wishes that there really were vampires out there that could, "save", me. Like in the movies, et cetera.
It was interesting to me how most vampires in the casual lore usually are afraid of the cross and church stuff but this one seemed fine about it ...it didn't effect him but a nice Suttle change I enjoyed this series just love the idea of this creature who's half animal half human .... I do wonder how the fuck did he get him out of that cave trough all the security when transportimg that box 😅😅😅😂....

Does it also have a limited ability for telepathy? In the ruins scene when it opens up it's wrist (bleh) in order to feed it's blood to Pruitt (bleh) he confessed that he heard a voice say "Drink. Drink." It couldn't possibly know English after being down there for thousands of years. So it would have to either communicate directly with either thoughts, or it would have to scan his memories to understand the language first to say it out loud, both of which require some kind of telepathy. Edit: I forgot, Pruitt says he could sense that Sarah's spine had healed enough for her to stand up out of her chair, and later that he sensed Riley's death, so they definitely have some kind of telepathy.
I think Pruitt really wanted to "believe". Most people would see the vampire in the cave and run 5000 miles but Pruitt in his old age/delirium and unwavering faith believed that this (clearly) sinister creature was an angel. He knew Leeza's spine healed because she had taken the vampire/angels blood through the sacrament, he knew it would heal her as it healed him. I can't explain him knowing Ripley died though. I think he knew Ripley was likely to get to the mainland and alert people or cause a stir in the island and when none of that happened he probably realised and called it like it was a sense and not common sense. A huge plot point in the show was just how much people chose blind faith in the way of common sense and logical thinking. I just think a lot of things in the show can be explained without a supernatural or spiritual element.

That vampire scared the absolute shit out of me when I saw it. But what makes it incredible is that they don't even use the word "vampire" in the miniseries. They just treat this like it's an unknown force. It makes it even deeper when we combine the mythology of both Vampires and Angels together and you could see the similarities (like how Vampires and Angels should not get involved with the lives of humans and that they both bring forth death in the most supernatural ways possible and of course the wing span and so on). "Midnight Mass" is such a brilliant show.

He just told himself over and over again that it was an angel to convince himself that using the vampire to heal the town wasn't a bad thing to do; a righteous thing, even. Only during the final episode does he finally admit the reason why he did all this was to save his lover, who was suffering from dimentia.
In catholicism, archangels are God's warriors. They follow God's orders no matter what they're told to do with no regrets. God's elite - they're certainly not cute little angels with wings. Knowing that, I believed through much of the show that it could have been an angel. The clues we were begin fed could have gone both way.
