    Thank you for the excellent video. I had this kit installed, which I don't normally do, and it was a great help to be educated on the process. The shop set the boost pressure to just above 1500 psi and I "felt" like this wasn't enough for the 37's. I'll adjust the pressure to 2000 psi now that I understand more about how the system works. Thank you again and be safe out there.

      Hi Chris, great hearing from you. Great to hear the video the video helped.
      Enjoy your improved steering capability with the Apex kit.

    Was steering getting hard in spots when off roading before the kit? Did the kit resolve that totally?

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  Před měsícem +1

      Hey Rubi! With the 37's aired down it was getting bad, I couldn't turn unless I could roll a few feet, which is not always possible offroad. I was also overheating the P.S. fluid.
      With the Apex installed, I can now turn the wheel while aired down, no issues. It's so seamless, I sometimes forget I'm running it. Definitely recommend!

    Getting them cooler screws started was PITA like no other. I swear the new design saves you time by not having to remove your front bumper and grill, but man getting the screws on takes about as much time. Instructions say to remove the sandwich plate and put back just the HP line. Is it ok if I leave mine on?

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Apologies for not getting back to you sooner, we've been out shooting content. Agree, those cooler screws are tough.
      That shouldn't be an issue leaving the sandwich plate on. Do you feel you want to reach out to Apex for verification on this?

    • @ghernandez6457
      @ghernandez6457 Před 3 měsíci

      @@ExpeditionBuilds No worries you replied within a day that is actually pretty fast. The instruction manual says to remove the sandwich plate and install the HP line by itself, but why is there a need to trim the mounting bracket if that's the case? I think they are contradicting themselves here. I am just gonns leave it as it is.

      @@ghernandez6457 Sorry I don't have an answer as to why the instructions ask for the sandwich plate removal? If you feel good about your install, roll with it.

    Is this Apex's newly designed cooler? No removal of the front bumper, grille and winch? I still have the older design and haven't gotten to installing it due to COVID at the time. Not the end of the world but anything that makes installation easier is always a plus in my book.

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  Před rokem +1

      Yes, this is the new cooler. Installation was done through the passenger fender liner and from underneath the Jeep.

      Hi! Do you have the factory sway bar disconnect? If so, the cooler will fit without any issues. I'm running the factory sway bar disco on mine. Let me know if you have any additional questions, glad to help.

    I accidentally cut the high pressure line on the pump side cause im an idiot 😔 I just ordered a replacement online that I’m hoping is correct. This install was already pushing my technical ability and now I have to figure out how to install the entire high pressure line. Wish me luck 😖

    Love the instructions, is this the same for 3.6lt as well? I did see some other videos and I'm confused on the bracket modifications.. also on the placement of the cooler.

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  Před rokem +1

      Hi Amrth. I know there is some slight variation between drivetrains (3.6l, 2.0L, etc) but this is the install procedure directly from Apex. The cooler location shown in the video is correct. I hope this helps.

    Great video! How much power steering fluid required to refill the system?

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! I'm not sure how much the system takes to refill if empty. We did not drain my pump reservoir during install and I think we used about a pint during initial start up, pressure dial in. After I wheeled it, I added another half of a pint.

    What was your reasoning for going with this Apex Designs kit instead of a PSC Big Bore kit? Was it simply a matter of cost since I found the the Apex Designs kit to be about 25% of the price of the PSC Big Bore kit?

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  Před rokem

      You hit it exactly...cost. The design of the Apex Oil Cooler is great as well. This system has been flawless, on the street, and off road as well.

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  Před rokem

      @@gregrusteikas9578 No, not seriously. I don't like the feel of overboosted steering, and I'm not turning a 40" tire. As I covered in the video, the on road steering feel was improved (firmed up a little) with the addition of the Apex Kit.

      @@ExpeditionBuilds So did I hear right at the 29:37 mark:You’ve boosted the Steering Pump’s PSI from stock 1300 to 2000? And, have you been running your Jeep at this 2000 PSI value since you had the Apex kit installed? All still good? No problems or issues with the factory steering pump being operated at 2000 instead of 1300 PSI?

      @@gregrusteikas9578 Hi Greg. Yes, that is correct, the Apex system is designed to run the the pump at 2000 psi. The steering has been flawless both on and off road. All good.
