R.I.P to my father Robert Wilson Godfather of Bass and Uncle Ronnie Wilson of The Gap Band ❤❤❤
As a DJ, this is one of those "must play" songs. This will rock every black cookout and wedding. Guaranteed.
Us Latinos as well. Gap Band is La Vida
It was definitely on all our cookout and block party playlists growing up ❤
Mate I'm a white Geezer in London 'England' Myself and my friends were big fans of the Gap Band back in the day, this still gets played at our parties & get togethers 😎👌
yessssssssssssssssssssssss!
It was massive in London too. Still is.
This song was more popular in the black community than "Early In The Morning" and "You Dropped The Bomb On Me". This is one of my all time favorites....you should also check out "Yearning For Your Love".
YES, TOTALLY!
I don’t know about you guys, but in my neighborhood “Party Train” was pretty popular too. Guaranteed to be played at house and yard parties.
I LOVE Yearning for Your Love!!
Yearning is one of the most sublime love songs ever recorded
Fact's
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Oops Up Side Your Head" and "Party Train"!!
Oooh, "Oops Upside Your Head" is great!!!
Shake and Stay With Me too.
Yeah Party Train is a big wow. Especially the action video.
Yes! “Oops Upside Your Head”!
@@Skeezer66 that song reminds me of my friend high school! I can't hear it without laughing and thinking her! I said, Oops, up-side side your head, said Oops upside your head!!!
This is the jam! Y'all are going to love this! Charlie Wilson the lead singer is a vocal beast! This will be Jay's anthem to Amber! 😁🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's UNCLE Charlie!
@@bergiefbaby That's right Uncle Charlie! 😁
3 months late but I have known this song for years and I never knew that was Charlie Wilson. WOW!
Yearning For Your Love is my favorite.
The GAP BAnd is always good. Yearning for Your Love, Humpin’, Early in the Morning, Shake your Booty etc. Plenty of funk. Plenty of soul. Plenty of fire!
Early in The Morning and You Dropped A Bomb On Me are two great Gap Band songs to rock out to!
My fav "Seasons No Reason To Change"😊
8:16 Someone took their time and phonically isolated every single drum individually.
damm that was some OUTSTANDING engineering.
Good call out! This song is just so dynamic from top to bottom.
The Gap Band had a string of funky soul hits in the late seventies/early eighties! The lead singer, Charlie Wilson, is still making amazing new music and touring!❤❤
The gap band - yearning for your love . Has to be next amazing song by them
Agreed.
YES!!!!! You just reacted to their best song, in my opinion!!!! The PERFECT jam skate song 🛼 The runner up that you may want to react to is “OOPS UPSIDE YOUR HEAD” 🔥🔥🔥
All you need is "Party Train" to wrap up your Gap Band listening. It's funky.
“Outstanding “ is the quintessential must have on repeat play . It’s just the best groove and it’s a appropriate anytime of the year for all occasions. I would recommend “ Yearning For Your Love”… enjoy
Yearning for you're love. The ultimate slow jam from the gap band. Basslines 🔥
♥
One of the best bands ever! RIP Robert and Ronnie! Ronnie had a smile that shone bright!
Taking me back to the days I would spin this tune during those Sunday afternoon BBQ's . Nothing like a slow jam to get you into a peaceful state of mind.
Another jam from my childhood. My mom and aunties loved the Gap Band.💃🏾
This song is always in my playlist. Back in the 90's, when we all had answering machines hooked up to our landline phones, the beginning of this song was the background of my outgoing message.
You may have heard Kenny Thomas's version in the 90,s ..another great artist with many cover versions
I love the Gap Band and Charlie Wilson has great vocals! Please listen to Yearning For Your Love!🖖🏼
This is by far my fav Gap band song!!
******** Front Man CHARLIE WILSON [often called Uncle Charlie] is Still Here, having done Collabs with Boyz II Men & Smokey Robinson. They named their Band after their TULSA Streets of Greenwood, Archer & Pine.
This is my absolute favourite Gap Band song! STILL in my Happy Playlist ❤❤❤
I love, Love, LOVE The Gap Band. Saw them live in Orlando and was giddy the whole night. They JAMMED!
Wait till you hear “yearning for your love” BOMB
My siblings and I were playing cards the other night; my brother in law is the DJ on card night; this came on and my brother and I were singing this full tilt 😂❤️
This is the jam !!!
Right now, I'm about 19years old , it's 1983 I'm in my 79 black olds tornado 2door cruzin down Woodward ave. Detroit.
Got me up and steppin…….love this song……brings back some good times
Ah, Outstanding.. my favorite Gap Band song from 1982.. Thank you for this🥰
The Gap Band hit Mtv hard, great music, party time videos made a fan out of me. Love just jammin' to the line. Great Party Music Always.
Haven't heard this one in a while. So smooooth. LOVE IT!!!
A lesser known but super funky Gap Band song is “Humpin’”
My college music! My 22 year old daughter loves the Gap Band. She loves Party Train!
When a song is 41 years old and is still a jam, you just know it's too good!
Awww yeah🔥🔥🔥, This is there most popular and one of their best songs out of many great songs by them, and my favorite . An absolute classic 💯💯💯
This is my favorite Gap Band song! And it really epitomizes the ‘80s R&B that I LOVED. Hail WKYS radio out of D.C. back in the day! Renee and Angela, Midnight Star, Kashif, Confunkshun, etc. So many great songs. ❤
P.S. Yearning for Your Love should be next!
I listened to WKYS back in the day. I moved to the DMV in 1981. I believe Donnie Simpson was on KYS then.
One group that you guys need to react to is Shalamar, from the eighties. They are an R&B/pop group who have many great, great songs. Trust me you will like and even love their music once you start listening to their catalogue. Start with 'I can make you feel good, A night to remember, make that move, there it is, The second time around. I'm telling you they are awesome and you will love them. A couple of side notes. Jeffrey Daniel of Shalamar is the one who taught Michael Jackson how to do the 'Moonwalk and Jody Watley had a great solo career of her own after leaving Shalamar with hits like Looking for a New Love and Don't You Want Me, which are great songs as well. This music never gets old and it would be great for you guys to bring some additional exposure to them so that the younger folks can also appreciate more great music of the past that they haven't heard before.
Gotta love Uncle Charlie ❣️
My wife was a disco queen ! I can still see her dancing to this song
This is my favorite song by Them I could listen to it on repeat !!
Wife here...,Always Loving the Gap Band!!!..Their level of FUNK can't be beat!!!..Loved em since a baby!
The samples taken from this classic. Backstreet, tatyana Ali, ashanti... not to mention the drum samples!!!! Sickkkk!!!
Miss these times, going out and everyone getting along all night long. Dancing till sunrise like vampires. Eating at Dennys and sleeping half the day. Yearning for your love another great jam.
used to come out of the club and it would be daylight
I saw Gap Band in 2019 near Atlanta. Fun show!!
When ever you hear this song, there's a 95.837% chance you are at somebody's cookout somewhere.
This song make anybody potato salad taste better!
Always listen to this on Fridays on my way home from work. It gets my weekend started right
yall have to hear "YEARNING"... they slow it down even more on that one. its an all time classic
What woman wouldn't want to hear these words from her man. Great choice for Valentine's Week. Love it!
One of the greatest songs ever made.
This is one of my favorites! Another underrated but very popular one by them is Yearning For Your Love. The GAP Band consists of 3 brothers - Charlie, Robert and Ronnie, and all 3 are talented multi instrumentalists. Someone referred to Robert Wilson as the Godfather of the Bass Guitar. He kills it in every song. Charlie Wilson's lead vocals remain unparalleled to this day. "Uncle" Charlie Wilson and Ron Isley of The Isley Brothers are supposed to be doing a record together soon. Ron's vocals on the The Isley Brothers' popular song Voyage to Atlantis is hauntingly beautiful, so these 2 old school powerhouses on one new record will be outstanding!
Love your reactions!
When music was outstanding ! Peace and love to you and yours...always,,,peace !
Charlie Wilson from the Gap Band has a Contemporary Christian song called I'm Blessed that is soooo Wonderful that I recommend watching &/or listening to!
Watching both of you feel this song I would have loved to have seen y'all get up and dance with each other
I used to listen that album each morning before getting up, whilst on holidays from work. They always have a summer vibe
GAP Band still the VIBE 40 years later😎
I was on the dance floor with the girl dem... I loved to dance to certain music. This is it...
Please, Jay, as for Tulsa guys, the man who IS The Tulsa Sound, JJ Cale, and never forget Jim Keltner (Buster Sidebury) the best session drummer ever. Always loved The G.A.P. Band, thanks bud
Yeah….a song you want to bogey to it’ll blow your mind! Thanks for the memories! React! React!
Y'all gotta do Oops Upside Your Head. They are on some serious Parliament funk with that one and then try Yearning For Your Love for their smooth R&B side.
Amber & Jordan, The Gap Band 1970's & 1980's Funk Band n their lead singer is Charlie Wilson with his 2 brothers Ronnie & Robert. Rip Ronnie & Robert!!! U guys r gonna be have a great treat, these guys have great music n videos of their group/. Nothing like hearing Uncle Charlie singing to get the body moving.
Love the Gap Band …listening from London ❤️
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!❤
Jay didn’t want to stop the song. I can tell 😂
Love all their music, let's funk it up!!
💖 Love for them forever!
Jay... Amber.. Please react to "Rhiannon", Live on the Midnight Special from 1976... Stevie will show you why she is a Rock Goddess!!!❤❤❤
I love to dance and my hubby was not a dancer AT ALL, but when “Outstanding” would come on, he would hit the dance floor with me.
They created a great funk sound years ago. Too bad they stopped. Nice memory.
Outstanding! Indeed! Lol😂😂
Charlie Wilson of the GAP Band has a successful solo career. Some of his recordings are, Charlie Last Name Wilson, There Goes My Baby, ( Might be Jays new song to Amber after he hears it. I'm sure t thats what he was thinking when he first saw her.) My Love Is All I Have and All My Love, featuring Smokey Robinson. (Didn't get much air play. But it deserves a reaction, simply because it's Charlie and Smokey)
Party Train is one of the most entertaining old school videos. Those guys were pure entertainment!!!
You gotta do," Yearning for your Love"! You guys will love that one!
Good song good reaction
Check out the YOU TUBE videos of Leon Russell playing LIVE at his Church Studio in Tulsa with the GAP Band! They were on his record label, Shelter Records and recorded there. Other famous Tulsans? Garth Brooks, Roy Clark, Elvin Bishop, Hanson, JJ Cale, Jamie Oldaker, David Teegarden ( former member of Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band!!) Admiral Twin, Ronnie Dunn & Dwight Twilley to name a few!
this was a very influential jam that basically started the whole 'swing beat' thing. A much underrated track of theirs which nobody has ever reacted to, is 'Don't Leave Me'.
This was massive in the UK, my friend Kenny Thomas did a great version which needs checking out
"YEARNIN' FOR YOUR LOVE" for another smooth song, and "HUMPIN" for some more of that Wilson Brothers FUNK!! 🔥
The Gap Band!!! You should react to Yearning For Your Love.....best slow tempo song by them! Also try Wednesday Lover, We Can Make It Alright. 😉
Funny, Rob got into it as soon as the drums started in the intro and Amber did as soon as she heard the voice! lol Ya'll are too cute! Love the GAP band!!!
This IS a great change of pace song for them, a little slower but the funk is still heavy. Not for a slow dance, but for dancing close!
I had a cassette tape of The Gap Band with this and all their songs. I played that tape so much, I wore it out!
Love the Gap Band. I have this album, so glad I kept my collection.
My favorite song from them is “Burn Rubber” try it if you haven’t heard it.
My favorite too.
Gap Band’s my JAM!!! I’m so glad y’all appreciate them! 🎉🎉
This is a midtempo, guitar-funk jam! Uncle Charlie (Wilson) was showing off his unique chest vocals, backed by his great brothers.
Merci beaucoup from France ! One of my best group with SOS BAND.
Definitely a GAP band classic! This song got sampled in 1995 for the song "Every Little Thing I Do" by Soul For Real, which you should also check out.
Going back to '80s funk/R&B songs, take a listen to "Don't stop the Music" by Yarbrough and Peoples.
R. Kelly, Aaron Hall, KC from Jodeci all got their vocal influence for Charlie Wilson.
Gotta react to "Yearnin For Your Love" and "You Dropped A Bomb On Me"
Love the way she started grooving to the song from the jump. ❤
Love their slow jam. You Dropped A Bomb on Me, Oops Upside Yo Head. Sometimes you just gotta dance. This was big at the roller rink. Thanks again for the smile.
Nobody better than the GAP Band! Been listening to them since 1980!
Well, if you talk about country music we have Garth Brooks, Reba , Vince gill, Toby keith, Ronnie Dunn from Brooks and Dunn, not to mention Carrie Underwood and many more.
Party Train!!
Definitely a jam! And I believe Early In The Morning is on the same album, y'all need to react to that one next! Sad that Charlie Wilson is the last of the brothers, he's had a stellar solo career. Also check out the longform version of I Don't Believe You Wanna Get Up and Dance (Oops!), That's a monster jam.
Hey y'all. there's an 80's dance tune called "You're The One For Me" by D-Train that you're going to have a lot of fun reacting to. It's got those 80's synths and a killer bassline. God bless!
Keb Mo "Dirty Lowdown and Bad ", "Am I Wrong ", "She Just Wants to Dance ".
You have to do the GAP Band - Party Train ❤
I love The Gap who was the opening act for Parliament in 1976 in L.A. when I saw them!!! Fire Baby FIRE!!!!!
Wait till you hear “Early in the Morning” talk about Vibe
