Thank you for the info! I have a couple of questions: What if you have a great idea but no money and not the best credit? Also, what if its not a small product that can be sold in stores/ amazon, but an industrial invention?
You can license product that is in many different industries. One of the biggest industries no one’s really talking about is the hospitality industry. Please note once again, doesn’t take a lot of money. It takes knowledge and a roadmap.
I've heard that patents can be risky in a sense. For example: You get your patent, someone really want this idea you have, they back track your information and scoop it behind you so it's as though they had the idea first, and that can lead to lawyers, etc. I heard this, is this true?
Hi Stephen I bought your book, "Sell Your Ideas With Or Without A Patent", it arrived yesterday. I wonder if you have ever considered putting it on tape for dyslexic people or blind people? There must be a great number of these individuals who could benefit from your books. I keep telling the Scottish government that not assisting lone inventors is ignoring an 'asset'. I hate being a "lost asset".
@@stephenkey3137 You're welcome. I can't help it , I'm an inventor in Scotland where the Government does not value inventors, unless they work in big business or research laboratories. The last pioneers left the UK on the Mayflower.
@@Primer595 I can empathize. I've independently invented the unifying physics theory physicists say they want, yet when I offer to sell it to them, guaranteed, they say something like, "That's not the way it's done...", which is currently why they still don't have a unifying physics theory.
@@PaulMarostica What baffles me is that they are not even curious! I came up with a hydrostatic electricity device for use in flat calm lakes, and was told by the university that ,even if my idea worked, they would not be able to fund any research, as another inventor had said he had a solution that they spent thirteen months of time and money on researching and it had not worked! OK , but "even if it worked!" are they kidding? I have this vision of some guy presenting an "elixir of life" to a panel of sceptics who say we are not interested. The inventor replies, "yes okay, that's what your great, great great grandads said when I showed it to them. I'll try your great great grandkids." Did they communicate where you could try? I bet they did not even offer that concession. You cannot fake intelligence!
@@Primer595 It scares me that they are not even curious. Is it possible that they are curious, but they have suppressed their curiosity because they simply no longer have the money to fund any research? If that is the case, then them not having the funds seems to be the real problem to be solved. I really liked your elixir story. It made me laugh. You would win your bet. No 1 has yet been able to direct me to an organization which will purchase a useful, new theory. Possibly, no such organization exists. And usually, along with telling me, "That's not the way it's done...", they also tell me I should publish my theory for free, and if it becomes popular, maybe some 1 will offer me a job as a physics theorist. I tell them I'm retirement age and I'm not looking for a job. I'm looking to be paid for my invention.

I'm not sure if this will help u tryed and that's amazing well done and thanks/ty/thx but I was planning to make my own country cus I already have the language ...!!! Well done!!
Thank you so much for this video! This is exactly what I needed to know.
Wonderful, thank you so much!
Your video was the first I watched before making any moves on the idea I do believe I have a good product idea just have to have the first one made and get everything squared away on the legal side
What do you mean by the legal side? Please note most ideas to get licensed do not have any issued intellectual property.
The right answer isn't to share the idea with a giant company without a lawyer present.
Completely not realistic.
@@stephenkey3137 why not?
I'm working on an invention and have made 2 prototypes already! I'm so new to how all this works! Whats next after prototype?
Keep watching the video!
Thank you so much this is exactly what I was looking for cause how would I go about getting it manufactured without making sure it’s protected I need to know step 1
That’s great!
Thanks for the advices.
I have many design ideas but I needing a better minset of how this work.
i have tuns of great things that would explode, but i forget when i come down, then i smoke up again and have more ideas, then forget HAHA
Wow
This is very important to me. Thanks.
You're welcome
Thank you for the info! I have a couple of questions:
What if you have a great idea but no money and not the best credit?
Also, what if its not a small product that can be sold in stores/ amazon, but an industrial invention?
You can license product that is in many different industries. One of the biggest industries no one’s really talking about is the hospitality industry. Please note once again, doesn’t take a lot of money. It takes knowledge and a roadmap.
I've heard that patents can be risky in a sense. For example: You get your patent, someone really want this idea you have, they back track your information and scoop it behind you so it's as though they had the idea first, and that can lead to lawyers, etc. I heard this, is this true?
Maria, that is not a common problem with patents.
Definitely helpful great video on what steps to take
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
Great idea, thank you!
Great video thanks for making this content for newbs!
Thank you!
Great video! I have a question - You said build a team. What do the players consist of as in what were each of the roles?
Depends on the industry. But you only need this when you have very large ideas. Big companies want to work with teams not individuals. For me a manufacturing expert, intellectual property and licensing agreement expert to say the least.
-Stephen
What if my idea is absolutely unique? What I’ve created is not anywhere in the world. I’m banking on it.
Pretty decent videos though, I’ve listened to a handful. I’ve also read a couple books. I’m pretty excited to see what the future holds.
I’m glad this information is helpful!
I made that mistake once..i saw my product out there..not any more...ready for class
When i was as kid i wanted the idea of having a little tv screen in your car and now look its happening man i wish i knew more in my life :(
It's not too late!
Haha u think that’s ur idea that hilarious. Go do some research, they’ve tried putting everything in cars for decades. Freezers, microwaves, tables, couches, beds, TVs! Essentially anything that exists at home.
💎💎Another great one Stephen!! Thanks
I invented a hydrofoil engine that sticks on side of a bridge over a river and it goes up and down with the water flow, a rod should tilt the blades so when it goes down it'll go back up, think putting your hand out of a car window and twisting your hand to go up and down ... It works and is quite simple to make for people like you.
Strange thing is a few month after i thought of it i decided to see if anyone on youtube had come up with it, a guy in a jungle Thailand somewhere had a very crude kinda working model but his tools and equipment let him down.
Remember me when you're a millionaire, i need to buy a new liver fr

Thxs but you're ok my friend, all you'll want is a ton of money which i ain't got, that's why i'm giving the invention away ... like i said i need a new liver so to whom it may concern don't forget me when you make millions.
I've also got another unique invention not on the shelves but i'll keep this one close to my chest for now
... thank you anyways

I HAVE HAD IDEAS MOST OF MY ADULT LIFE BUT ONE COMPANY MADE IT SO COMPLICATED TO JUST SEND THEM MY IDEAS, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO GO FURTHER WITH THEM. I ASKED THEM IF A FAX COULD BE USED AND WAS TOLD IT ALL HAD TO BE DONE BY MY PC. I JUST FOUND A GREAT COMPANY TO HELP ME AND IT TOOK ALL OF 5 MINUTES TO SEND THEM A FAX OF MY IDEA. THANK GOODNESS SOME COMPANIES STILL VALUE CUSTOMERS!!

9:08 So what questions will i ask the people in the industry? Or Would it be better to do a prior art search instead?
i have a great idea that is about 20yrs old me and my brothers were competing with each other as kids with who has the best invention ideas and my twin brother won by a landslide with this i wish i could tell you all so you get that "ah hah" moment 🤑 but i just want to say great video and that if you know it's a great idea believe in yourself and go all in for it it'll pay off if it truly is one
Thanks for this very helpful video.!!!!
FBA dude! Amazon FBA takes care of a lot of stuff you said. :)
What's the turnaround time for a provisional patent?
Hi Stephen, is possible to follow these steps even if I live in Italy? Thank you
Yes, if your licensing in the United States.
It’s the best place to start.
Thank you !
Any advice on just using a service like invention home?
Always do your homework type in complaints and lawsuits. You cannot hide today.
-Stephen
You could sell the Patent and put in the selling agreement that u want a certain percentage of royalties
Can I take an existing product, and make a modification that will revolutionize the tool?
Yes you can but it has to be more than just a little change.
I have an invention, there is NOTHING like it on the market ANYWHERE. I have looked high and low, but I just need a mentor/ someone in the industry to show me. Ugh!
You should reach out to us. We can help you.

I came up with an idea and it would be of interest to many hotels. The cleaning crew. There is nothing like it anywhere. Want to license it.
Any advice for sourcing companies to license to in the luggage/bag sector? Happy to connect direct if you have relationships I can leverage (paid). Thanks
No I don’t. It’s a very difficult industry.
Thanks, I have plenty of ideas as well.
I have a real question. Who can I contact to make something specific for me for my own comfort not for a company I want someone to build a prototype just for me so I can enjoy myself. Who do I contact to make an idea I just want someone to try and make for me?
Great question. Depends on the complexity of your idea.
Thanks for this, really helpful
There is no "I" in team
But I have learned the hard way , that there is an ME in there
Can I just sell the product concept to a retailer? That's what I'm trying to do.. Main concern are the contracts
Thanks so much! Very motivational video

You can put the notarized drawing blueprint Schematic of your idea inside of a envelope drop it in the mailbox in town mail it back to your house and never open it if anyone tries to steal your idea you take them to court judge opens envelope and you win the postmark is proof of the date and it's illegal document
No, that doesn’t work.
@@inventRightReally? How come?
I've got great ideas, mademy own prototype but don't want to waste money on patent..next best thing trademark? What if i sent an email of a drawing/photo to myself..would it hold up? Thanks!
Absolutely not. That’s called the poor man protection and it’s just does not work.
Great video, I just love the hair
What if my idea is to use two existing products to make a differente product
Hi Stephen! I'm a stay at home mom that does arts and crafts. I love all kinds of arts and I came up with an idea to make a product that will help many other people that do what I do. Not knowing how to go about this, I reached out to a company where I usually buy a similar product. I ask them if they are interested to hear about my idea and maybe develop this product I'm thinking of. Am I doing this all wrong? Should I share my idea with this company? Should I ask if they want to develop my ideia? I'm all confuse about what to do. Could you advise me. Thank you so much! : ) PS, I'm still waiting for them to respond.
Hi Jessica, You want to play the numbers game and send to many companies. You also want a one page sell sheet / marketing piece that will do the selling for you. - Andrew Krauss, inventRight Co-Founder
Another lady I listened to says you don’t wanna give away everything immediately. Just get a feel if they’re looking for what your offering. She explains they maybe already working on something similar or you might awaken them to a flaw that they will then pursue without you if your idea sucks, it might be very similar. So...
@@chaddsteinberg3758 That's absolutely correct! You want to disclose just enough to get them interested.
@@inventRight After you see that they are interested, what needs to happen?
I have a great invintion that is iut but not the way some people would luke to buy it. Just the opposite of what is on the market.. that should be easy to pull off right ?
When you license your idea do the company gives a one-time check or do you get incentives?
You get paid quarterly!
