So… nothing wrong with the Gladiator at all just preferences and a need for a full size truck. Gotcha! Gladiator is a much better purchase for me than a Wrangler simply for the bed (which saves cab space in overland/off-road adventures). It is still just as capable of not more due to its power and wheelbase. However longer it may be creating a little more struggle in rocky environments. The Gladiator nails every possible need into the wood for me and many others. I can see the seats being an area of concern. However there are plenty things you can change, and why purchase a Rubicon model if you have any intention to actually modify a vehicle or make it functional in the way you need it? Seems like a bad decision and it’s good you decided to get something different. If you had got the base model it would be well worth your money to have modified to fit your needs, except the tow capacity which does lack compared to a full sized truck.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. well said.
The Gladiator is actually a decent vehicle. Don’t let hoovie scare you away. My grandpa bought one 1 year ago. He was 2 months away from retirement and wanted a vehicle that would “last him the next 25 years or so of his life”. He previously owned a 2004 chevy trailblazer “north face package” he bought for $42,000 brand new. Gladiator ownership, he puts 15,000 or so miles a year on it. He never off roads, just occasional gravel roads in southern indiana. He uses it to go camping, perfectly fine pulls a 3,000 pound tiny 10ft camper. He loves the many features. He keeps it in mint condition, he baby’s it for sure. Honestly over half the features he never uses, but it’s still “cool quirks” as doug demuro would say. I was “eh” on the purchase at first. I’m like hoovie, I love vehicles that are unique from 1985-2005. New vehicles? Not often my thing. But the Gladiator proved its point for me personally. FOR WHAT MY GRANDPA USE’S it for, it’s a perfect purchase. Hoovie? He bought a vehicle that wasn’t ment for what he needed it for. Not a bad vehicle, just wrong type of guy. That’s like saying a Dodge Dakota convertible would be bad for a lumber company. Why? simply because that’s not what it’s intended to do
Reliability wise, probably won't last 25 years. Jeep is notorious for being unreliable. Should have went with a 4 runner that would out live him and you
He wanted a vehicle to last him 25 yrs and went with Jeep?
He's close to the limit on a 3k tiny trailer, towing max is 4k. If he puts too much gear it in he's riding the edge.
@@Eric-zs6rd only in the manual transmission. The automatic transmission Gladiators can tow 6000-7000lbs
I have had great longevity with my jeeps and I purchased this as a retirement vehicle also. I love the personality and function. I have had a Ford F250 in the past, 4wd, and to compare mid size trucks to the full size is unfair. Yea it is more money, and honestly I got a cheap used Outland package with low mileage so most of the dislikes mentioned are void due to the deal I got. No midsized truck can compare. I intentionally went smaller for urban life. It is a fun car that can do pick up truck basics. I think it is a great truck.

Great comment
Hahahahah I read this a few minutes before I saw that part and was confused, but I’m highly thankful this comment is here
I rented one of these. I liked it overall. Accepting that it is "light duty" 4WD as opposed to a Diesel Pick Up, with surprisingly good gas mileage, it is definitely on my list as a possible replacement vehicle :)
I love that you did this! What a generous move. The Gladiator review is appreciated as well. When I first saw them, I had my doubts on it handling switchbacks such as the hairpin one in Ouray Pass.

They're not selling because they're too expensive. When you see the price, it just makes more sense to buy a regular pickup. Plus I don't see jeeps as work vehicles as much as just for fun.
Thanks for your video. I have one of the first out in 2020 and having it that long I still love it and fits my needs perfectly. So your video gives good example to do research on a vehicle that fits your needs before you buy. Maybe lease first. Thanks again for your info and input 😊

A truck that can't truck. A Jeep that can't Jeep. At the the price of a well optioned full size 4x4 truck. I have no idea why they aren't selling.
I’m so disappointed too, I’m not someone who can currently afford it but I was hopeful it would be better so that I could buy one. But seeing everything going the way it is I’m so disappointed. I’d sooner spend my money on the untested Bronco than this
When we bought the wife's Jeep she insisted on a two-door. It stickered for 41K but thanks to being a holdover and typical FCA incentives it ended up being 34K. It seemed like a lot for a toy, but looking at it realistically that's not a bad deal for a capable 4x4 convertible. The 50-60K these Gladiators demand is a lot harder to swallow given they're not particularly good at either of the things they're supposed to be.
Gladiator Sport S is about $35K here. Taco TRD Offroad is similar, if not more.
@@RKmndo The Sport S in stock form looks like something someone cobbled together out of spare parts they had laying around their garage tho.
@@hippiebits2071 Everybody is entitled to their opinion.
From my perspective, it will never look like an Italian sportscar, and a set of bigger, more aggressive tires makes even a Rubicon or a TRD Taco look better.
Giving someone a Jeep is like giving someone a puppy. Yeah, it's cute and fun but it also comes with a bunch of responsibility.
Are you talking about the responsibility to put an LS in it?
Turbo diesel gladiator is definitely desirable it’s an amazing truck. My only complaint is small cabin because I’m 6’4. Also you can buy a brand new diesel without a 10k markup or buy a used one with 20k+ miles for Msrp
If they’d allow you to fold down the back cabin area so you could put longer items into the cabin it might have been worth it. However the storage is just too small to be useful for my needs. It would have been cool if you could fit 8’ items in the back utilizing the rear seat space.
Enjoy driving your Prius.

We watched the video this morning and then hit up Freddy's for the first time. It was in Centerville, OH so I am not sure it was one of your stores. But yeah, it was really really good. Thanks!
Well too bad. I love mine. Coolest vehicle I've ever owned. The ride quality is fantastic. Everything is easy to reach and I think the seats are very comfortable. Now keep in mind I'm only 5"4. I came from a full size 2015 Chevy truck to the Gladiator. The Chevy was nice, but I really didn't have use for a full size truck. It was also too roomy for me. Had to lean forward to reach the hvac/audio controls. My Gladiator didn't cost me $60k. Cost around 43k. A Jeep is a fun vehicle, not a work vehicle. The Jeep truck is for someone who wants the fun factor of a Jeep, but still needs a vehicle to do some "truck stuff". Obviously if you do alot of heavy truck stuff, then you get an actual "truck" truck.
You are 5’4” and are surprised you had to lean forward to reach something? Do you pull out a ladder to get in the Jeep?

Your respect for the “Greatest Generation” is heart warming.
If youre passionate about offroading and need to tow a little, this truck is PERFECTION. I have a launch edition on 37’ with a 2.5” lift and synergy upgrade sll around. I can confirm it will do nearly any offroad trail, and tow my RV. So to each their own i guess.
You made me feel better about my new bought truck, I freaking love it, it’s not like using it for work, it’s a damn jeep, a wrangler with a truck bed, I feel amazing driving around south Florida with it 😎
Exactly!!! These aren’t for everyone. I love mine. Mine has a 4 inch lift on 40’s and 2.5 ton steering,5:13 gears, truss, antirock sway bar and other upgrades. Really fun building it and experiencing the capabilities on the rocks.
I bought a 2021 from a dealership and did all my research before hand. Its a soft top so I got what I have always wanted. A Jeep wrangler, truck for hauling and a convertible. I bought this because I could afford it and it met my desires. A new tacoma or other truck - 60k or more. Mine - 46k with good packages. Major reason I bought it - as tall as I am I fit into it comfortable, my wife can drive it without needing a ladder to get in and its' small enough to be driveable but not like a full size truck like I have had a few times before. With a full size truck I was the only one to drive it in the family of 6. Is it perfect - no, but if you do your research for all the things that you want out of it, then you make the decision. It does off road great, runs good, and has enough room in the back truck bed for most anything that I need to haul. It also has towing capacity that I needed - just enough but not to much like a full size truck. My biggest suggestion is to see these videos on their driving styles and desires, do your own research and test drive, then make your decision. With the market that has changed these Gladiators are hardly ever on the dealer lots anymore. So some folks are buying them and loving them. After many years rebuilding cars, driving lots of types of cars over 40 plus years, this is the happiest I have been in 30 years driving. So best luck on what you get.
Let me summarize: I knew all the shortcomings of the Gladiator. It lived up to those shortcomings and I was disappointed.
wasn't...
Spot on.
The Annointed One technically it works either way. He was in fact disappointed. Lol

What i noticed is: those who dont like the Gladiator really should have baught either a Wrangler or a Power Wagon.
Mid-sized pickups ARE a compromize. Thats what the whole segment is.
💯….. Common sense is not common anymore lol.
'Every vehicle' is a compromise if you also factor initial cost, depreciation, and fuel economy. It just depends what your personal prioritizations are...
One of the reasons they aren't selling much is because it's the price of a damn fully loaded escalade with a damn charger sxt v6 engine in them. 🤦🏻
Agreed charger base engine lol
I dont think it looks right
I think it should be a 2 door not a full 4 door (if executed right, would cut the wheelbase down)
Also I think the way the back of the 'cab' ends and the way the bed starts doesn't transition right
It looks like they just dropped a regular wrangler on a Ram frame and added a bed
I think there were alot of poor choices in execution
lol same as a dodge caravan v6 engine too, which sounds like shit
It honestly needs the diesel offered in the normal Wrangler or a 5.7 Hemi gasser as options
@@chazzcoolidge2654 Both are coming now, for this.

@@MsArjun1111 Not sure what you mean.
Why on Earth WOULDN'T a brand-new 4x4 vehicle be capable of driving along a dirt-road, and how would that damage it's ECU and camera systems?
@@SiCrewe There's always a break in period for motor vehicles, my last car dealer specifically barred me from going offroad for a good 500 kms.

If you think a Gladiator in USA is expensive, try to buy one in Germany. A new Gladiator Rubicon is between 85.000$ and 89.000$.
@@williamparker7823 its worse, its a well known fact that the pickup manufacturers build in a much larger profit margin on trucks. Take the F150 from Ford, the Silverado/Sierra from GM and the Ram from.... Chry,, wait Dia, no FCA or whatever they are nowadays and each company would struggle to survive.
Freddie was a client of ours a few years ago. Glad we got to serve him!
We started getting Freddie’s in my area and absolutely love them! Funny I came here for the Gladiator review left thinking about heading over to Freddie’s.
I drove a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport to 300 miles out of warranty. Then everything self destructed. 3 months and $3000 later nobody could sort the electrical gremlins out. Thank Gawd it behaved long enough to trade it in.
10:33 - Kinda random, where the restaurant owner arrives and says "Im Vlogging" xD
This is such a millennial thing to say lmao I’m vlogging.
Nowadays is probably the worst time ever to buy trucks and big SUVs. They’ve gotten way too expensive.
Perfect time to sell to the dealer.
And built cheap
Wait for the gas prices to go back up!
Hybrids are around the corner. Another dinosaur
@@roscoeelcocko1863 built cheap, sell high, brakes down in a long run
The gladiator is really just a nice vehicle for going on camping trips. You load your gear and people and it’s great for that.
Fiat built it what did you expect. I towed with a overweight trailer about 1500 miles I had to run fog lights at night in order to keep people from flashing high beams at me. Did all types of terrain and it survived. I agree about the length compared to the older Jeep. I got 14 miles to the gallon which was decent. The cab noise is loud I had soft top. I am a tall individual as well and did have some comfort issues. Great video
Says it’s disappointing… And he’s going to give it to somebody more deserving. LMAO
Probably a McDonald’s franchise owner.
Everyone has different needs. I bet you never studied that in school. LMAO.
@@WhiteWolfeHU nothing wrong with that
yeah - a midget
Dude is the Gayest jeep owner Ive ever seen
When he traded that Jimmy for the Gladiator, I was sure he was going to regret it. For the same or less money, you can get a super nice F150, Ram or Tundra thats a whole lot more truck in so many ways.
Rams are trash too
It all comes down to what you're needs are honestly, there isn't a Truck that competes with the Gladiator on what it offers. If you are complaining about the towing capacity on a mid-size truck that's purpose isn't primary focus on then it's your fault for not doing the research. The Gladiator is running the same engine out of the Jeep Wrangler so don't expect it too pull 7,000LBS comfortably. If you are looking to tow then you shouldn't even been thinking about the Gladiator...Go for a 1/2 and above lol.
@@ricelife6336 That goes for offroading too, it's offroading truck, so it will be long truck off road, on the other hand look what "The Story Till Now" puts his Gladiator through,...However the engine lineup needs 5.7 in the list, at least finally the small diesel is on it's way, but especially for truck, it would not hurt to have another at least 4L or bigger diesel
It’s still badass can’t wait to get mine soon
I’m thinking of getting one for work and fun. I need a small pick up for work. I live in California so I want a convertible and I hike and camp so a once in a while 4x4 works for me. I also don’t care how ugly it is.
Hmm... sounds like me...
You won't be disappointed, I love mine!!
When he says he owns a “tincy part in several store”, he means he’s the majority stake holder in like 20 stores.
Really? I was always interessted in what tyler's role was in freddy! Does he own a couple of stores or something ? Like a franchisee

I think the diesel would be more worth it because it's much torquier. That or Jeep needs to fit the 5.7L Hemi in it. That being said it does what it's designed to do, biggest issue for me is price, they want 60k for the Rubicon which is probably the most desirable trim level and it's insane. I could buy a truck cheaper and do some pretty nice aftermarket stuff to it for that price.
I love Freddie’s burgers and fries with the fri sauce!! 😂
Yo Hoovie, when are you gonna release your album? Dude was spitting straight fire at the end!
Complaints about the car or if it's worth the cost is probably second to the fact that it's time to get another company purchase for another write-off after a year. Glad to see it going to someone in the company that needs it! I've driven a Rubicon Gladiator and it's got enough power and rides surprisingly well for those tires.
Captian Over: "Hoovie, do you like movies about gladiators?"
Apparently not.
"have you seen a grown man naked"?
Great video. Also my family and friends love Freddie’s. We eat lunch usually once a week there and my wife became a fan when we stopped to eat. Traveling we usually stop at least once too.
It is missing a Hemi. It looks kind of cool but it doesn’t have any wow factor.
Exactly, a 392/6.4 is what everyone is waiting for.
The fact that the Hummer H3T wasn’t a success should have told Jeep that it wouldn’t be a great seller.
The H3T wasn’t a success for the same reasons the hummers as a brand died. And none of it had to do with performance. A recession with climbing gas prices, absolute nonstop negative media coverage and attacking are what killed the hummer brand.
Of all the hummer models the H3T retains a lot of its value, even ten years after the last one was produced. Most these days still sell for over 20k when they retailed for 40k.
@@hummerskickass lol except it’s got a 5 banger 😂 Chevy Colorado! Not a hummer.
dmoney8766 the Alpha models came with the larger V8, it’s a common misconception that the H3s were built off the Colorado chassis. The Colorado chassis is only 5% parts compatible with the H3 chassis. The Hummers was enlarged and reinforced.
And even if it were the case that the H3 was just a Chevy Colorado. That would still be preferable to the jeep gladiator.
Hell, I'd take that atlas 5 cylinder over that jeep V6 anyday. That 5 banger is plenty torquey, and fairly fuel efficient, my old man's h3 netted 20 mpg with it. Meanwhile that V6 might be more efficient, but it's not exactly torquey.
@@hummerskickass I am having a laugh at a discussion on which one isn't as bad as the other. Get a Toyota, they run and run.
He keeps comparing the gladiator to other vehicles but it's not those vehicles its it's own thing, it's like an all terrain tire, it's not great at anything but it's good at everything.
Great video how did you get the black dash with the rubicon? Thought red dash was standard? I prefer the black.
10:25 I see that's where Tyler normally parks
haha, good eye.
I guess you mean the empty parking space covered with oil leaks. Good one!
