These are small baits where I live - Queensland, Australia. Most fishing here is saltwater so the fish get a lot bigger.

i should have scrolled down i just made the exact comment, by how quickly his huge bait gets smashed and how hard it is for him to catch bluegill i'd say the pond is running desperately low on forage for all those big tank predatory fish.
The fish look healthy as horses. But yes, I do agree with you. Stocking it would be very beneficial but it would take a couple of attempts because a vast majority of the first stock would be eaten quite quickly.

I’d honestly consult with a wildlife biologist regarding your pond’s health. It seems as though you might need to get some of those larger catfish out of there. This problem could affect your bass population and health.
It clearly isn’t though. This pond had 20 pound catfish AND 5 pound bass lol. If anything he needs to stock more bluegill in there. It shouldn’t take an hour to catch bait. The pond monsters are wiping out the bluegill. I would also put shad in the pond.

U know what’s really fun from when I didn’t hv a license. Try to find creeks near your house on google earth and ride a bike to all the spots. I liked to use small lures like a spinner or rapala original minnow but u can try worms. U can even dig them up from your yard and keep the fish for catch n cook if the creeks clean. It’s a blast. I saved up for a car but sometimes I still just use a bike like I used to.

Idk which state he is in but by going off the 618 in the channel name I am guessing it's illinois, there is nothing in the regs that say he can't use largemouth bass as live bait as long as he is using it on the same body of water. He is allowed a 3 bass limit. 1 over 15 inches, and 2 under 15 inches. Some people might find it unsporting, but well with in the regs of the state. Great vids man!!!
Pretty sure there's a reg that says you can't use game fish as bait in IL. But none of it matters as this is a private pond that's not subject to local game laws.

In my area, you can’t use any ‘game fish’ for bait... including bass, crappie, sunfish, or perch
I only use sunfish but that sucks
Private lakes here you can use about anything you want. Owner of the lake owns the fish.
Must have a lot of people fishing your waters or something killing off the fish population
Go to a nice hole of water at a creek somewhere and use pieces of hot dog a little hook and bobber or little sinker and wear out the chub minnows flat heads and blue cats love em and u can catch em in size from crappie size to good catfish size!!! Where im at u can use anything as bait but still love me some creek chubs for bait!!
Here in Germany, you're not allowed to use ANY fish as live bait. You're just allowed to use fish as bait, if you kill them before. So yeah... :D

Hunner paddlefish don’t eat live bait, you snag them, and they live in rivers that are tributaries or connected to the missippi River , they don’t live in a pond where he is fishing

Catfish of all varieties are extremely voracious predators and all fight like fury as long as they're not completely out-gunned by your tackle

Using game fish for bait is illegal in every state that i know of.
Lots of states allow you to use *some* game fish as bait, but I didn't know some allow bass
100% legal in PA. As long as caught by legal means.
From the Iowa DNR website: "Anglers may also use legally harvested sport fish caught on a hook and line as bait. A bait dealer license is required to sell, give or furnish bait to others."

He might be having a hard time catching bait because there's too many larger fish in that pond. Whoever owns that pond may want to take some of the larger fish out and put in redear and bluegill. At least that's what I would do.

The Fishing Nomad Hi. Sorry, I didn’t see your comment right away. This is just my opinion so take it for what it’s worth. Game fish are the top of the food chain in most waters therefore there are by nature fewer of them than rough fish like suckers, carp, drum, etc. For every bass fry used as bait the angler takes a larger proportion of the species out of the water than if he used a rough fish for bait that tend to be in abundance. I hope this makes some degree of sense and again is just my personal take on the subject..
