Very amazing. A Citroen ID going on there wheels on an american highway, an american cop speaking Italian, and an Italian driver speaking french. Bizarre, bizarre. Stupendente.
It is not bizarre. CHPS is an AMERICAN serie. The policeman speaks in English. The FRENCH man speak French. It is HUBERT NOËL. A French ACTOR. (BORN in 1924/ dead in 1987) This serie was for ITALIAN TV.(ITALIAN version) For example In GERMANY, CHPS , ACTORS speak German.(GERMAN VERSION).
fair play the DS was probably the most adventurously designed car of the century. that clever suspension, semi auto, ultra high pressure power steering and brakes...and launched in 1955!
Only possible with a Citroen that has the hydropneumatik suspension! Even with a burst tire it drives safely! This circumstance along with other things has for example saved General de Gaulles life!
So, the scene from CHiPs it's dubbed in Italian, the man that drives the DS talks French, the video description is in Spanish/Portuguese, and half the comments are in English. Internet in a nutshell.
Motore e' pumpa del lookhead dovere continuare a girare in ralenti ! 1955-2015: Citroën DS 60 years old ! Great Flaminio Bertoni designer's work, engine and lookhead pump must running( low rpm) when the car is in high position.
We see everywhere the name of Flaminio Bertoni like the designer of this car, OK for half of the success of this car, but the DS would not be what it is without its hydraulic system designed by French designer Paul Magès.
Citroen Traction Avant. First monocoque (uni body) production car in 1934. Citroen DS, first production car with large parts of the interior made in one single large piece (revolutionary at the time) and the suspension you mention. Aside from Rolls Royce, Mercedes used the same Citroen suspension in their top 70's model the 450 SEL 6,9.
Right..I like your reasoning.. Long wheelbase=Rides like a Rolls Royce. No mentioning of the hydropneumatic suspension that made the soft ride possible, whoops Rolls Royce used the same system under license from..tada Citroën. So a Citroën of that era didn't ride like a Rolls, but the Rolls had the ride of the Citroën:-)
Dude, I have always heard about this clip, but this is the first time I've seen it. This is helarious. Looks like a 68 or 69 ID19. 3rd front, but with the curved dash.
I love French cars.Citroens remind me of U.F.O's.They zoom past effortlessly leaving most Americans slack jawed. The Serie Maserati still looks like it just dropped in out of the future.
A translation from someone would be good. I had a Citroën GSA that suffered a blowout on an English country lane at 50MPH and the only reason I knew was the pop sound and then later the sound of the steel of the wheel touching the tarmac!
My dad had a DS & we drove on 3 wheels more than once because he was thrifty and didn't always carry a spare tire. On vacations we'd pass a car & then they'd get in front of us again. It seems there are folks who don't like being behind a foreign car. The old man lived for those moments, he'd put the pedal down & that 4 cylinder engine would wind up & we'd be going 120 mph & the other guy would be left in the dust. Us kids were always nice tho, we always waved as we went by them.
Yep,the SM,eternal lust object. All were very rare here in the States.Oddly though,I've seen more SM's here than DS.Only DS I ever saw was a 72 Pallas my dad's colleague had.

Gawd bless 'merica and their lack of European understanding. "yes officer that's right. This Citroen from Europe will unlike your Mustang, go around corners very ast on 3 or 4 wheels".
the brakes and aerodynamics in a ford are always better? someones asking for a flame war lol "runs for the hills. haha I loved how the guy is poking the cop, Try and stick your finger on a cops chest now days, lol quick way to end-up with a knee pushing your face into the ground!
THe funny thing is that americans must be thinking that this of rolling on 3 wheels its a camera trick AHHAHAHah , the day that an american car can do this give me a call please,,by then im pretty sure phones are not gona exist no more and everybody will be communicating by telepathy hahaa

Yup, .....and Citroen DS is the most beautiful car ever made (in history of human civilsation, that is, of course, my opinion).
leodaisy1 fvy
I agree to that.
Esatto
It looks better with the rear mudguard on... makes the illusion even wierder

I can remember this clip when I was a kid back in the 70's. Of course it was filmed in ENGLISH!!!

Good point there; the Silver Shadow 1 handled like a boat, but this was greatly improved bu the addition of Citroën suspension on the Shadow 2.
I love French cars.Citroens remind me of U.F.O's.They zoom past effortlessly leaving most Americans slack jawed. The Serie Maserati still looks like it just dropped in out of the future.
Hermoso, hermosisimo Citroen =D
Κορυφή CITROEN!!!!!! Top CITROEN!!!!!!!!!!!

🇫🇷This Guy who drove the Citroën DS 🚘(ID 19), is a FRENCH ACTOR. His name is HUBERT NOËL (Born in 1924/Died in 1987). He is not American. He speaks his own real French language.

Perhaps, one day in the future, Citroens won't need any wheels at all, they will just ride on some invisible gas
If anyone can make a 'hover car' it will likely be Citröen.
It´s a DS, GS has a flat tail...Also, DS has directional lights upper and behind the rear window.

Since when do american policemen who speak italian pull over French guys driving down the highway in a, lets say, wannabe tricycle?
