Welshman here.. I never thought I’d see England give up so easily in all my life, always a tight encounter but after Davies try it’s like they switched off. I had a bad feeling Borthwick wasn’t the right appointment… Jones should have stayed until the World Cup was over.
Obviously as a Welshman I’m pleased, I have good English mates so all I can say is, you’ll be back boys 🏴 🤝 🏴

@@christianwithers7335 I wonder if behind the scenes the RFU is as prosperous as I’ve always believed them to be? - been a tough few years all round, with Premiership clubs folding it does make me wonder. England will be back though, next week I think we will see a completely different team. If England lose again next week then I think it’ll be time to ask some big questions.

After the detailed coverage of the substitutions in a 4 minute highlights real, it cuts to George North falling over the line for Wales second try with zero footage of how that try was made. But hey you got the England subs welcoming each other onto the field, that’s what counts.

Lower expectations for the he highlights
Full credit to the video editor. It takes an exceptional talent to squeeze four minutes of highlights out of one of the dullest games of rugby in years, yet still manage to include less than two minutes of actual rugby. Interesting choice not to show the lead up play that resulted in penalties but opting for hand shakes and substitutions instead. Probably didn't want to go over 5 minutes.
After watching my team get wrecked by everyone it’s nice to see the youngsters having a run out and actually not making mistakes ever 2 passes

Smith at least had a go and Ludlum and a couple of others at least ran hard. Beyond that I agree.
And yet one of these teams are probably certain to go further than 3/4 of Ireland, South Africa, France or New Zealand. Does that make sense?
Not even an attempt to offload out of a tackle. These are pros what are they doing in training? No half break off loads no cleaver handling skills just rout one rugby. Wingers must be bored to death.

First time for me at principality to watch England away, and they were very disappointing 😩. But wales were amazing in the second half and the Welsh fans I met were equally amazing, fantastic atmosphere in and around stadium.

Steward is so slow. See RZ's 'almost try'. Look at Steward, he is truly pedestrian. I know RZ is fast but if Steward can't do better than that... Remember, Steward is young, probably at his peak, never to be faster. He'd make a good flanker, but you can not be a world class 15 and be that slow.

Wales have huge potential with this team. Youth pace power. Again tho Refereeing is so inconsistent. Some awful decisions!! England offside and blocking opponents constantly and not picked up
Didn't Wales win the youth World Cup a few years ago? Some of those players will eventually come through maybe this is the start.
@aldozilli1293 Not at under20's level. We were runners up in 2013, finished 3rd a few times but won a few six nations at that level too. Truth be told all the best players at that level never manage to represent wales at u20's due to ties with their clubs meaning we're never at full strength.
A typical Wales 1970's type performance, blew England away in the last thirty minutes. And they left two tries on the pitch, as they say.

Its not a proper england wales game tbh. England seemed totally disinterested and disjointed. They truly treated it like a warm up, pretty embarrassing effort level.

Watched all the games at the weekend,one thing that stood out is that England would take the 3 points rather than back themselves by going to touch and scoring a try. These warm up games are the time to go for it rather be negative.

I’m not sure why.. but apathy seems to set in to the team when Genge is captain. Is he too ‘slap on the back’ matey with the lads? Farrell would just not let that amount of handling errors happen. You’d be scared to knock it on. Not out of actual fear, but respect for your leader on the field. I don’t know why Genge seems to lack that at England level.
Two things:
1. I honestly cannot see the point in going into the World Cup with the current coaching team. I’d be surprised if we made it out of the group
2. Ludlum is average at best at international level. Drop the geez…

I thought I'd never see the say I wasn't excited about watching England at Rugby. Left the pub early with 20 minutes left. It just isn't working for the team or the management.
I can only say I truly hope that was mostly Borthwick testing out the bin juice...... I am worried. Wales and Gatland, not sure how they do it particularly with the last 12 months in mind but good performance and nice confidence builder.
An energized Wales, particularly in the last 20 mins, highlighted the ineptness of the English game plan; no flair, no width. no ingenuity, even our set piece performance was amateur and embarrassing, capped off with a comical level of handling errors. I'm tired of being told what a magician Borthwick was at Leicester Tigers, one thing is becoming very evident, if he had any magic, he's well and truly lost it now. Congrats to Wales and sorry we didn't give you much of a challenge.
How many foreign players did he rely on at Leicester? The English league is very very strong....without the South African and Welsh and Arg and South Seas players it would be poor
As a Welshman I'm not reading too much into this game. There have been so many off field and on field problems for so long it's hard to see us making any sort of impact. My personal goal for Wales is to get out of the group. This result could easily be reversed next week. We are still lightyears behind France and Ireland
Oh well.. at least we won't have to suffer the embarrassment for long😂😂😂 we'll be home after a week😂😂 good ole dependable England

I didn’t expect much from this new setup, but I still expected something to be talk about happily
I love English Rugby, watched it my entire life. But we are absolutely clueless, never looked like scoring. Our only tactic is kick the ball to the opposition and hope for a mistake. It’s not the players, it’s the coaching leaving the players so restricted there is no freedom to play. Prime example Care is a quick ball playing scrum half, he was so slow at the breakdown time and time again. That is not Care’s game he is operating under strict instruction. Its a dated, dull, scrum half kick and hope the opposition make a mistake…. That’s it, that’s our one and only tactic, no other ideas? There were times in the Wales half and we are kicking it high to chase WTAF. England’s only talent currently is dragging the opposition into our dire way of playing. Honestly it’s the first time in my life I’m not bothered if I watch England play or not. What’s the point in all our talent outside, all they do is chase kicks. Boring kick fest, painting by numbers, it’s an absolute joke. Hope we get hammered in the World Cup, might actually lead to a change, but I doubt it. Smith had glimpses of heads up rugby, which means he probably will not be selected for the World Cup squad. Oh to top it off we have forgotten to catch and hold on to the ball. Boring, boring England. Please Borewick let your players play. We must be the worst international team to watch. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Rant over. Finally, Genge to captain, and head coach before going onto be prime minister, legend.

Wales were average, England were poor. Credit to Wales as it was England B versus Wales C. If Wales repeat that first 40 versus a tier two side then they will have lost by half time. Wales won because Gatland is a very good coach and inspired Wales and made tweeks. Borthwick is clueless and probably confused his team at half time, coaches prove their worth in the interval. Wales beat a dreadful team.
You can only beat what's in front of you, and Wales beat a dreadful team. Wales have still a cutting edge (3 trips into 22 with 2 tries) but Wales are callow and low on confidence. Wales though have a very good manager. A good team will humiliate both England and wales

He knocked it on before grounding so wasn’t a try. This said, years ago that would have been an in field decision (before video ref existed) and would have probably been awarded.
This said, the female video ref made the wrong call initially by saying you can award the try. Only when the pitch ref challenged it did she make the right call. There’s no bias here either as I’m Welsh and would have loved for it to be awarded but wasn’t a try unfortunately.

Borthwick got his excuses in very early and said ‘England aren’t good at anything’ .. basically ‘the team I’ve inherited, from someone else much more experienced at this level than me, is poor’. Well mate, it’s months and months later and you’ve regressed from that position even further. You aren’t the level you thought you were. Dunning Kruger effect playing out for someone who knew from the off he’d taken maybe a bit too much of a leap forward for his ability and management level.
Just couldn't get the attack going for 90% of the game and when that 10% came it led to nothing set piece really needs to be worked on aswell

This wasn’t a good day for England, but stick with them. Borthwick is still learning his trade as an international coach and has the potential to develop a really strong team - but it will take time. I’m hoping this week was just a run out for a bit of a random bag of players!
Having said that, the handling errors every few seconds were painful.
FFS have you watched the other international teams over the weekend. Every single one of the tier one nations looked more focused and organized than this shambles. Argentina will comfortably dispose Borthwicks team and he will be sacked before the next 6N is my prediction.

Reese Zammit what a shame that ref overuled that try even though TMO was happy . Again refs so inconsistent as Graham from Scotland had Tru allowed for similar despite clear knock on. Refs going to ruin this WC.
Absolutely agree. Didn't see anything different to Scotland try. Referee missed a lot luckily didn't affect the result

If that's the kind of performance England are going to be throwing out each time they play they might as well not even bother for the world cup. It's the same old tactic of trundling up the pitch five or ten meters with the forwards and then box kicking it away every few phases after offering absolutely nothing in attack. They will be lucky to get out of their pool at this rate if this carries on.

Don’t care what the refs said that was a try by zammit! Ref wasn’t great today and got a few calls wrong - he’s usually a great ref but that doesn’t make them invincible- footage after the match shows he maintained finger contact with the ball so it’s pretty bad the TMO got it wrong too

Highlights? really? i understand hes testing some players and positions before world cup and that none of them have had game time but really, at 70 minutes it was handling errors 2 for wales and 14 for England? what are excuses for professionals that cant handle a ball so many times. Really hope this is a one off and blowing of the cobwebs before the world cup. I can imagine other nations laughing at that performance, no team will fear England and maybe that will be to England's benefit.

someone taking an easy penalty kick is not a highlight, how the penalty came about might be.
What a dismal, inept performance that was. So much for working on the shortcomings of the six nations games! The worst thing was they were trying hard. But getting nowhere and kept on doing the same thing with the same result…a handling error. No penetration, poor rolling maul, poor scrums, unimaginative behind the scrum. Depressing for England fans looking forwards to the World Cup. Neither of these two teams are looking good for that.
