To be fair I definitely agree that fight should have to be stopped but has veneers and his teeth that are veneers come out at the gym so in a fight wouldn’t be as alarming as another fighter

sam pierce You must be young-- veneers are glued solidly to the tooth, they aren't intended to come off or out. Bridges&partials can be removed at will& put back in...there's quite a diffference.

It wasn’t the UFC themselves that decided to give refs the power to stop fights. It was McCarthy literally threatening to quit. He said he wouldn’t referee their shit ever again if he wasn’t allowed to stop fights.

Anthony Smith's corner failed him in the Jones fight too, they gave absolutely no technical advice they just hyped him up without any specific details
Smith's corner told him that he should accept the DQ win in the Jones fight, it was Smith who wanted to keep going. Additionally, Smith has told his corner that if they stop his fights, they are going to be fired on the spot without any questions. I don't agree with his decision to do that to his corner, but he does. If you're going to blame anyone for the fight going to long, blame him not his corner. If you don't believe me watch his interview with Ariel Helwani post Glover fight.

Well Obviously Smith's not gonna say he is a quiter. He build his whole career on image of person who wont give up.... He is obviously lying, He is just diverting the drama from corner to him. Because he is a "lionheart" and he never gives up... If he doesnt lie then both him and his corner are just dumb and should probably not be involved in professional sports. If u want to die fighting, and earn money... Join military.

Most cornermen are guilty of that. I'm starting to think unless you're Amanda Nunes, getting in the cage with Bullet is already your corner failing to protect you from yourself. But Cachoeira was the worst among the worst.

It was pretty funny hearing him meltdown when Amanda Nunes finished Ronda Rousey.
What I love about these lists and this channel, not just specifically this for this video, is how varied they are, like it’s always a good variety of fights and not just the headliners. Featuring stuff on prelims and a good variety of promotions and not just UFC main card. Good work, guys, keep it up!

I agree, I was just about to comment Cachoeira too. Girl looked like a bloody pulp and it was very obvious that she isn't gonna beat Valentina, her corner could've saved her from an unreasonable amount of injuries and pain.
How they missed Cachoeira is beyond me. Yamasaki was the one who took the fall on this one, but those cornermen deserve to be thrown in a volcano. How can you see your fighter is getting her head absolutely smashed in and not say "that's enough, you're done", and the ref is doing nothing to avoid unnecessary damage? That fight seriously pissed me off. And Tony being Tony, I'm sure his corner thought he would pull off one of his crazy stunts to surprise and somehow KO Gaethje. Still a bad job, but nowhere near as bad as Gifford, Smith, Pennington or Cachoeira.

I remember thinking how weird it was that a potentially top 3 fighter in the weight class like Roxanne was such a big underdog
The Maycee hype train was on full steam, knowing who would be her wrestling coach (one of the greatest grapplers ever, but at the same time, the guy who became immortal for trying to tank a flying knee with his forehead), and both her and the public severely underestimating Roxy. Lesson learned. Never think a veteran can't upset a young prospect. Veterans have tricks under their sleeve. And no. Judging by how easily Roxy dominated Maycee in the first round, the knee injury was not that much of a fight changer. It was the cherry on top of the cake and made sure Maycee would not have any way of winning.

In that Rousey fight it's ironic that Holm might have won it through her strikes but will be forever remembered for that sweeeeet sweet head kick.

It’s lists like these that make me appreciate good coaches and cornermen like Roufus in the Pettis Ferguson fight with his broken hand. It’s similar to lion heart, where the fighter tells them of an injury, but with Pettis, Roufus actually cared about the health and well being of his fighter. Even if it would have pissed off Pettis, which it didn’t.
Agreed - though the hand wasn’t broken. Rufus made that up to save face for pettis wanting to stop. Really actually even better corner work - stopping it and saving face

I never quite understood that. Isn't Pennington allowed to quit herself? Can't she tell the ref it is over? The only reason I can see Pennington wanting the corer to quit for her would be to save face: "I totally wanted to continue but the corner threw in the towel". That wouldn't work cause she had a camera in her face when she said she was done

I love this video and how objective the information is. The only thing I would say as someone who has competed; there are times when corners are a bit scared of throwing in the towel. There are fighters that would rather take an arm break or a guillotine nap than tap. I think that type of bravado is respectable and stupid. If you cannot trust your corner you have nothing.

The Thomas Gifford fight was honestly very scary. It was one of those few times where I literally almost had to change the channel. I didn’t like seeing him get beaten up the way he did. Mad respect for his toughness though.
