The whole entrance thing in the early days was designed to take up extra space in the arena so it didn’t look like they had trouble filling it.

I believe Dana White had mentioned this in an interview, or documentary.
Dana White has said one of the main reasons they had the big Jumbotron screen and WWE Style walkout ramp was because in the early days they were barely selling half the Arena's they went to. By putting up the giant stage and curtains behind it they were able to cut off a third of the building making the arena look more full.
Which is exactly why WWE does the same thing.

I remember during Manny Pacquiao vs. Chris Algieri, they interviewed Algieri's coach (Tim Lane) mid-fight while Algieri was losing badly. Just as Lane was telling the interviewer that they had Pacquiao right where they wanted him and were about to turn the fight around, Pacquiao floors Algieri and sends him tumbling across the ring. Say what you will about Olivi's mid-fight interview, at least THAT didn't happen.

Love the product, don't care to much for the company.
I’ve felt that way for almost 15 years. Love that they put out so much of the sport, but they’ve ruined what made it truly fun and unique long ago when they bought Pride.

I actually loved UFC's over the top entrances, and Tito's "Give me something to break" entrance is still one of my favorites.

Fight island is a ridiculous concept but I’m actually really enjoying the shows recently, contender series, Vegas shows and the fight island shows. I dunno if it’s no crowd or less pre-match hype, quick walkouts and getting on with the fight quicker but yeah, really enjoying ufc the last few months and had fallen off for a year or so and only just getting back into it.
