Nioh and Fatal Frame Creators at Bokeh Game Studio

- Fumihiko Yasuda (Nioh series, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty) and Makoto Shibata (Fatal Frame series) of Team NINJA joined Keiichiro Toyama for a new Golden Hour, where they spoke about their distinctive takes to game creation - in action and horror respectively.
We will be resuming regular activity on CZcams and will be inviting more guests from the gaming/entertainment industry in Japan - as well as new "Focus" episodes which will be centered on the development of "Slitterhead". They aren’t the biggest publisher from japan, but i feel like it’s one that really represents Japanese essence whether from historical games or just how it’s presented. Really love koei tecmo designed stuff, take all the advice you can and suck them dry team bokeh! :D can’t wait to see some updates on slitterhead!

I really like Team Ninja's work on Nioh.
The game is challenging, but more than that, it's fun. The build system is the best in Souls.
Nioh 2 is my favorite souls like due to its more robust rpg character building. It can be a little much but it made chasing better gear so fun

Also, I'll always love Fatal Frame II, it's one of my fav games ever! It's a rare occasion when all the game elements fall together so well that you can't stop playing till the very end and thinking about every moment you experienced. Grimy atmosphere of the Minakami Village truly one of a kind. I want to thank Shibata-san for such great series!🙏
I hope that we'll see a new entry in the series someday and remasters/remakes of other games as well (personally, I think that such masterpiece as FFII need to be available on all current systems, especially when we are having horror renaissance now!). I'm also loving the Nioh series and recently finished Wo Long with friends, that was such a blast! I agree that gameplay is a core element for every game, definitely. Very excited for the Rise of the Ronin!

16:35 wow. Cant believe the director would agree with me so well. Even after playing all those demo/betas i still didnt know if i was getting what i wanted. But it was definitely unique enough and polished enough for me to buy the game.

Glad to hear about Fuyumi Ono novel, The creepy atmosphere and the feeling that something strange was going on, besides Shiki was filled with intricate medical and cultural knowledge, I really liked. The human interaction in this novel is just too realistic too, the moral dilemma.. and references to StephenKing and Bram Stoker❤

this was a delight to watch! i always enjoy discussions with toyama and shibata, and yasuda was a lovely addition; though ive yet to play nioh, it was neat to learn more about all these games. this is a wonderful series!

I just love watching these videos, seeing some of gaming's best minds coming together and just talking about their histories, passions, and perspectives. It's all about the games, and it's fascinating.
Western developers should take note from videos like this, and try to imitate Japanese devs, who put their craft and their audience first. These days if you have three Western devs in a room together talking, the whole thing would be about politics, race, gender, diversity of everything but thought, and they'd barely even mention the game outside of how they feel it's a way to fight capitalism or "the man" or whatever stupid bullshit got pounded into their heads at university.
