Glad to have found your site. Most low-carb sites aren't as informative and well presented as yours. Thank you for so many different recipes.
High praise! We try. Thank you :)
Love Cauliflower! Thank you for your time and advice. A tip for peeps who donât eat eggs I have made this with Cream cheese and my stick blender so as to control the texture. Hugs from me â€ïž
Ohhh. I like the cream cheese idea. Thanks for the tip and hugs back!
I just bought cauliflower today. I am going to try this. Mmm ty
This was the best mash ever. Who knew egg yolks made a difference. I did add parmesan cheese. On my menu now
Parmesan cheese is a very yummy touch to this recipe!
tried your recipe and absolutely loved it. even added a tablespoon of cream cheese. thanks for the recipe. now can have cottage pie etc.
I made this for the first time, and it turned out GREAT. Thank for sharing with us.
Just had this for dinner. It was wonderful, I'm loving the butter. . .
Here is a new tip for you.
Put raw cauliflower in your food processor and rice it,
add to a hot skillet and simmer, stirring occasionally until most of the water is evaporated, then make your mash (; sour cream, cream cheese, or ricotta are other yummy items that make it creamy as well. I do like the egg yolk idea tho! đ
Sounds awesome, great tip :)
I don't have the steaming tool, but I rice cauliflower all the time and wondered if that would be okay. I appreciate the comments saying it is. I'm also assuming it's 1 stick of butter, because it looks like it but doesn't say exactly.
Shelly,,,,,,,,Yup! That's what I do...just haven't tried it with the egg yolks, yet...I also add pieces of fried bacon, Yum!
Learned a great tip on this video about adding the egg yolks to the cauli mash, I make cauli mash often but never thought of egg yolks ,, good think to know and will give it a try next time.Love your videos.
Thank you! Happy to help :)
I made this and it was deeeeeeeeeelishious! Thank you for this recipe. A definite keeper.
Hi Dot, new viewer here. You can also drain the water but leave the veg in the strainer & the pot on the burner (turned off) and with the lid off, let the water evaporate for about 5 minutes. Itâll also let the veg cool enough for the processor step. I also use the yolk straining method you do! Learned it from food network about 20 yrs ago
Iâm very glad to find another great CZcams channel for keto. Thanks for your videos and lovely personality!
I freakin love your channel. You are very inspirational.
I tried this for dinner tonight and it was truly delicious. Didn't make the whole cauliflower but just enough for two servings. Very happy cuz I loved mashed potatoes, so I'm happy to have a substitute that is up to par. Thanks for sharing. I'll be looking to you for a lot of my future meals. Thanks again for doing this...God bless.
Yeah! Glad you enjoyed it.
Wooooow! That is the best and smoothest cauliflower mash I've ever seen. I was hoping that your last words in the video were going to be, "First 100 callers will receive their mail order Cauliflower mash next day free delivery!" But that's not what I heard :-(
Lol, I love it. Thank you :) Awesome comment.
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living I just put a Squash Casserole in the oven using home ground cashews and flaxseed meal in place of breadcrumbs. I've never tried it and couldn't find a recipe on CZcams where a Keto recipe didn't use Pork Rinds. I have nothing against it just don't find it where I live. So what are your thoughts on a Keto/Low Carb Squash Casserole? Would love a video. I'll let you know how mine turned out.
Mrs. Adriann. How did your Squash Casserole turn out?
Linda Charron Hi Linda it was delicious! I think there's still some debate over whether Yellow squash is Low Carb but I'm not really STRICT Keto yet. So I only make this from time to time.
Mrs. Adriann. I used to order my pork rinds from Amazon, but they have shot up in price. Like from $6.99 to almost $20 for a tub. So if I cant get small packs from Walmart. I order them from Walmart.com. about $8 for a tub.
This looks so delicious! I have been on Keto for 5 months now and I was really missing mash potatoes but looks like this is just as good!
I just tried it, thanks so much for the recipe! It was absolutely delicious!
I enjoy you so much and love the split screen. You have helped me greatly on this low carb journey.
Awesome
I just started a low carb diet and was looking for a mashed potato substitute. This looks delicious so I'll def try this out!! Thank you
Hope you like!
I always save the water and freeze it for soup. I think it is a win win proposition. Thank you for the video.
It looks delicious and so easy to make, I canât wait to make it!đđ»
Made your cauli mash tonight and it was delicious! Went right up to my number one side for steak dinners. It's a keeper :) Thank you so much.....
Hi Dot, many years ago, an elderly lady who had been a cook all of her life gave me a tip when making mashed potatoes. Drain them and return to the warm pan, then fold a clean tea towel into four and place on top of the potatoes in the pan then put the lid back on and leave for 5 minutes, this removes a lot of the moisture, the potatoes stay warm enough to melt the butter. I should imagine it would work with cauliflower. Once again another excellent recipe for me to try. Thanks
What a beautiful doggy laying there on the kitchen floor! What a gorgeous dog!
Made this tonight with roast chicken, the texture is so rich and fluffy! Thanks for the egg yolk tip!
Sweet, glad you liked it!
That was a thoroughly detailed fantastic recipe.
Thank you :)
Thank you! and thanks for recipes not requiring cheese-some of us are allergic.
Dot thank you! I picked up the "food" book by a doctor you mentioned and understand now why I have failed at every diet and weigh more than ever. In just over a week of low fat low carb eating, 12 pounds melted away. Love your recipes.
I have just recently found your channel and igreatly appreciate your videos. Because of my exposure to Agent Orange Iâm Vietnam I am diabetic and have had a couple of cancers. I just finished my last round of chemo and radiation
I really have to watch my carb intake so this channel is becoming invaluable. Thank you for your work here. I am going to plant a whole lot more cauliflower this year!
Thanks again, you have another loyal subscriber.
Making this tonight thanks it looks amazing
Excellent video. One thing to know is that after you steam any vegetable, donât lift up the lid until the steam has stopped. Then slowly open the lid. Any vitamins that were about to escape with steam, will fall back into the pot. Wait about five minutes before lifting the lid. I prefer to use the small amount of liquid from the pot in the cauliflower mash. This way most of the vitamins are preserved. If you use a chicken stock to steam other vegetables like carrots, you can drink the liquid. Itâs good for you and has vitamins.đ
Great tip, hadn't thought of that. I'll try! And tank you.
I microwave almost all fresh or frozen veggies in a covered dish, adding no water except what might cling to just-washed. They come out perfectly cooked with no extra liquid to drain or pat off. Any comments about whether microwaving affects nutrients?
I can't comment beyond just me thinking about it. You hear so many things. But all microwaves do is agitate water molecules, which create heat. Just like running a burner under a pot of water, the water heats up. So whatever boiling does to vitamins, I'd expect a similar result from a microwave. But I'm not a PHD, just me thinking about it.
very good dish. will be cooking this recipe
Sundayâs side dish-- thank u
that actually looks REALLY GOOD! I will make that tonite! thanks Dot!
Awesome, ty :)
Brilliant, I make Sheppard's pie alot perfect for me and my son I plan to do this this weekend
Will try it to see if I like it or not thanks
New to Keto and your channel. Am not a good cook but/so am really enjoying your channel. You give great instructions!!
Thank you so much!
Just found you, am new to keto, and you give practical info, without a lot of chat, just the facts.
This looks delicious! Great recipe for thanksgiving
Shout out for that Corning Ware French White casserole dish! I am going to try your method for this recipe. I haven't gotten the results I was hoping for using another method. Much loveđ
I've had those since I got married. They just keep chugging along!
Nice recipe. I use my Omega slow auger juicer to extra the water first. The juicer makes a nice dry pulp. It removes 90% of the cauliflower juice (which I save to drink). I then cook the processed pulp, and mix using a hand mixer. Am looking forward to trying egg in the mash.
Mashed Potatoes (cauliflower) on Keto?!? OMG...this is life changing. Can't wait to make this.
Love it! Thanks for the tips.
Delicious. I will try this out.
Just discovered this channel ,subscribed will be following from now on. I started low carb keto fasting a month ago.I lost 14 pounds so far but my meal selection is getting boring Thankx for making this channel and sharing your story meals and time.
So good! Thank you!
Hello Dot. i was on the Keto Program for 3 months. i didnt loose any weight, in fact gained 10 pounds. esp a layer of blubber around my knees. im 66 and am insulin resistant, plus over weight by 65lbs. the latest fad that i tried was Whole30. and i did loose about 10lbs but that was all.(i was on the whole30 for 90 days.) wasnt really hungry either. Of course grain isnt allowed, along with dried fruit, or dairy. But with Whole 30 there isnt any sugar, but with whole 30 u get fresh fruit, veggies, and Meat/eggs ,and some nuts. after watching u cook i think i can go back to the whole 30 and ingrate your meals as my own. Just need to toss out the tv... im glad i stumble across your page.
i do have to add that my blood sugar plummeted to 70 but then evened out to 102
This looks good, Iâll have to try it.
Thank you!
Looks good, I'm going to "" go ahead" and try this!
I love cauliflower therefore will try
Love how you filmed and cut this video! Great angles, sound quality and very easy to understand! May I ask what food processer you use?
Iâm going to make this but use my instant pot to steam it. Like your channel!
Great job.....enjoyed watching this....thanks!
Good shop beautiful idea thank you so much
It looks delicious!
Looks great. I would use a tea towel to dry the veggie as it's washable.
I would use a t towel because I don't have paper towel in my house (haven't had for 6 years).
I've been avoiding eggs alot lately, but for this, and that subsequent cottage pie, I may have to make an exception
Hehe, sorry to tempt you away from your eggless pursuits :) Hope you enjoy!
Yes, you do SOUND sorry :D I'm sure I will be in food heaven!
I don't remember how to add your name, but HOLY SHEETCAKES, DOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just made these, with one very slight variation, and oh my .............
Glad you enjoyed it and made it your own! Try not to bloat too much ;)
I did, very much so ... The bloat will go away eventually. I'm beginning to think the only safe vegetable for me to consume is lettuce :D I'll survive. The non-keto husband said they were "not bad ..." which is a decent outcome, where he's concerned :) They were perfect with the meatloaf I made. Sorry, no cottage pie this time! :)
Dot this was awesome the yolks instead of cream was brilliant. Had it tonight with liver. Next time will have it with meatloaf.
I'm trying liver next week! I've never had it. I know I need to eat it but it freaks me out a bit. LOL Love the idea of this recipe with it.
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living If it is your first time try chicken livers first... also don't cook it so well done it gets dried out.
Looks wonderful. I love mashed potatoâs, but canât have them, being diabetic. This recipe might be the mashed potato ticket for me. Thanks!
Yum, looks very tasty.
I must try this thank you
Enjoy :)
I'm gonna go ahead and try this!
Youâre such an inspiration low your videos
Salad spinner would work fantastic!!
I think maybe a salad spinner would work to get the water out, just a thought!
đGonna try it and the cottage pie. đ
đ€đđ€
Just remove the cap from a water bottle and use it to suction up the yoke. It works every time.
yes, by far the easiest way to separate egg yokes from the whites.
@@jamesdavis8731 Not very fashionable but it works. :)
@@karmelabun1999 certainly more fashionable that having it run through your hands. And using the bottle is four times faster and cleaner.
@@jamesdavis8731 Hahahaha! So true!
Thanks Dot...looks great.
Thank you so much đș
You're welcome
i steam & eat those green leafies with the cauliflower. I saw Chef AJ do it. I regained my health & mobility at 65 by following her & Dr John MacDougall , by eating whole foods, plant based , high starch , plus lost 85 lbs in 25 months. No animal products , or highly processed foods . I too have gotten off meds & a cane, etc.. . I just started a small channel about my own journey. Praying your cancer was healed . Take care & stay safe đđđâ€ïž
It's so good y'all!
You are just a doll..love your presentationsđ
Thank you :)
So much to love!
Looks delish đ
Dot Apparently you have never watched Rocky where he drinks raw eggs all the time. I know a lot of people are concerned about that the raw egg, but the eggshell protects the egg and United States is one of the few countries that refrigerate them, most people in Europe keep them in a bowl on the table. You can tell people if they don't like it do it their own way.
New subscriber from Australia, thanks for sharing đđ
Fabulous!
Again...a great inspiration...Thanks if you can do ...I can too
I am gonna try this. Mine always comes out so watery and gross. I really want that mashed potato feel. Thank you :-)
Best of luck :) It's all in the drying with the paper towel, and the egg of course.
Thank you... looks good đčâ€ïž
I do same thing. I love my steam basket. good video I'm a new subscriber.
Hey, welcome aboard, and great minds think alike :)
This is awesome...Dot you are wonderful. Would the recipe work if I omitted the eggs....
I really like this idea of putting it on top of meat mixture for like a shepards pie recipe. what snacks do you have when you want something sweet or savory?
Thumbs up for kitty at the end!!!
I love Shepard's pie...getting a food processor and ice maker!!
Iâve just started my low carb diet itâs been a week . Iâm on 20 grams of carbs at the moment. Thanks for this awesome video Iâm struggling what to eat . Roman in London đ
Yay, welcome to the lifestyle :)
Hey Roman, been on LCHF (low carb healthy fat) diet for 2 years now. No more pain, no more meds needed and lost 35 kilo of excess fat in the process. Feeling great! Congratulations on your decision to take your health through good nitritional intake into your own hands đ€ The list of whole (unprocessed) foods to eat are bountiful! Check out Dietdoctor.com for all allowed foods, oils & drinks. There are many other good sources, which you will find mostly have the same foods listed. Remember all sugars, incl. fructose, sucrose, etc. should be avoided at all cost. Good Alternatives are out there (Monk Fruit, Stevia, Erithrytol) for desserts and X-Mas biscuits. Just google & research under Keto, LCHF or Low Carb. And endless fun recipes are all over the place... some of my favorites: flavcity, keto connect, Dr. Berg, keto in the country and of course Dotâs channel đ Good Luck to you my friend! Bon Appetite
Saute all your vegetables on a frying pan with a cover, this saves all nutrients and saves paper towels as well. if you are southern lady, use bacon grease, or if you are northerner use some of that butter.
Hey Dot. I hazelnut flour be used the same as almond flour? Trying to find ways to cut my carbs more
Hazelnut is a great substitute for almond flour. Whatever almond flour can do -- breads, cookies, muffins, crusts, "bread"crumbs -- hazelnut flour can do the same. Just know that on occasion you may have to add a little more hazelnut than the recipe calls for (I'm talking maybe a tablespoon) if your batter is looking too thin.
This recipe looks great!!! What type of food processor do you have! I'll need a steam basket also.
Cuisinart - one of the BEST KITCHEN INVESTMENTS you will ever make. I first saw one used in the '70's in a cooking class given by the local electric company. Wanted one ever since - my Hamilton Beach finally died so I got one off Amazon in 2019. They are still impressive - even 40+ years later! Never have seen one better than Cuisinart!!!đ
You rock and thank you so much for sharing :)
I like to add a little mustard too...
Add Parsley on top YUMMO !!!!
So I finally made Cauliflower mash in my Magic Bullet and it was a SUCCESS. I also put it over ground beef but decided I wanted "Italian" so I made the beef the way I would a meat sauce for lasagna but the consistency of sloppy joe. I added an egg and cashew milk mix over the ground beef in the casserole dish then mozzarella cheese, then the mash cauliflower, then more cheese. Baked it and It was REALLY good!
That's wonderful :)
Easier and cleaner way to separate eggs use a plastic water bottle squeeze the bottle and it picks up the yolk and then pour it into another bowl ..its works ..just little advice and throw away the bottle or rinse it out and use it only for separating your eggs
Eggcellent idea! Thanks for the tip.
WOW I just found you. Thank You!
I love Shepherds Pie - and was looking for a way to eat it without the potato - love the idea of using cauliflowers instead of potatoes - I'd sprinkle some grated cheese on top and then back under the grill for a crispy finish - PS - Dot, you're looking great with the weight loss.
Thank you! this is an older video, and I'm up a little. Hope to have a video about it tomorrow, time-willing. Cheers.
What food processor are you using? I need a new one. Mine won't pull the food into the blades to puree.
i like that i'm trying
I like to add a little almond flour, it gives it a carby mouth feel
Hi Dot, I love your cooking videos but wonder where I can find a written recipe of these recipes? Do you have a cookbook? Thank-you
Andrea, all my recipes are written in the description section of each video. On a desktop, you may have to click "show more" under the video. On a phone, it'd be the little arrow to the right of the title of the video. I hope to get it onto a website at some point, and yes, I hope to write a book sometime too :) Thank you!
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living Thank-you. I look forward to your videos.
What food processor make/model are you using in video please? Thank you
Cuisinart. If you check my Amazon shop, you'll see it about 1/2 way down. It's pretty good. A little too big for little things, which is why I also use a smaller one (also linked in my shop): www.amazon.com/shop/dot2trotslowcarbliving
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living thank you very much for replying. Iâm looking for a good food processor since mine broke literally after the second use.
the stem and leaves are my favorite parts (as is the core of the cabbage)
