11 years ago, a remarkable game took place. It had everything: 9 goals, a late winner, missed chances, hilarious mistakes and much much more.
But, above all else, it had an iconic battle between two titans of the game: A young Neymar and a veteran Ronaldinho. Today, we recap how it went down.

Could you please do a video on Celtic and rangers rivalry
Hi Tinashe, Im a big fan and I was wondering if you were going to make a vid about Raùl somewhere down the line, thanks for the great videos👍
That line "...there would only be one outcome but what we didn't know was where he was going to put it" just took me back to the Ronaldinho shows the world over. Thanks you Tanase. I got the name right, right?
That Hleb quote is a lie he never played with Deco at Barcelona !!!
HE TRULY WAS A MENACE TO SOCIETY If I am not mistaken the GK for Flamengo that day was the guy that murdered his wife !!!
I think every single Brazilian that watched football back them remember where they were when this game happened and remember the details. Some, like me, described it as the most entertaining game they ever saw in their lives.
Bicho, esse jogo foi bizarro. Aquela falta do Ronaldinho por debaixo da barreira, o gol do Neymar driblando todo mundo... mágico demais
@@Zigoto0077 o do Neymar eu só consegui ficar estático na frente da TV. O do Ronaldinho...
Now i regret not being Brazilian
No one will ever top the joy that Ronaldinho brought everytime he’s on pitch
I pray that this isn't true but thus far there is no one that has matched him
Maybe Messi but true
Maradona
Nope, so much style and swagger
@@daniel5534 Doesn't have the same swagger or flair.
Probably the best match that I HAVE seen. As a Santos supporter, I remember every single detail of this match and how unstopable Neymar was. Our League table results weren't great only because of the brazilian calendar, which matches can take place in FIFA Days, and Neymar was always called up.
If Neymar could play all games, we would have probably battled for more titles
he did win you libertadores tho so I'm sure you're happy with his time at santos lol
@@younusbendame742 For sure, I was just giving some context to why Santos was not good at the league by that time
Eu tava secando o Santos nesse Jogo!🤣👌❤️
I'm brazilian so I actually watched it on tv, one of the best games I've ever watched
I remember people calling/texting friends who weren't watching to turn on the tv. I got called and started watching at half time unfortunately. Amazing match.
No one has ever played the beautiful game like Ronaldinho.
Jay Jay Okocha would say otherwise, to a lesser degree. I absolutely love Ronaldinho but his teammate at PSG played as he did while not being as good.
@@michaelwilliams-nq6zg So good they named him twice. Watching his performances on MOTD are some of my earliest football memories.
Zidane, Maradona and Cruyff say hi
Zidane really?
@@salvadorjimenez1467 yeah Zidane was magical bro
It was legendary. The defending was absolutely garbage but the attacking play was a FIFA fanboy's wet dream. Ronaldinho turned back the years and Neymar actually played with fire.
Never seen? The whole game is on CZcams to this very day, I watch at least once a year 🤣 I advise anyone who hasn't to watch it beginning to end. What a game
I am a Fortaleza fan, but watching this game was just incredible, like a torch passage between the generations, I remember being a kid seeing it on TV and having goosebumps, couldn't even stay sitted on the couch because of how much joy and emotion that match gave us.
Eu também sou torcedor do Leão e também me chamo Davi (de) Menezes. QUAL A CHANCE??? Jogão, histórico!
EITA MEU FIH, só esse jogão pra trazer uma coincidência dessas viu
What is Fortaleza?
@@ripdib A brazilian football club
teu time vai cair
Before, I used to believe football was a sport. But after I saw and witnessed Dinho play, I finally truly appreciated that football was an art.
I'm a Santos fan and I was watching this live. The most entertaining game I ever saw.
I was kinda bummed my team blew a 3-0 lead, but the joy from the spectatle I'd witnessed was much higher.
Santos are bottle jobs they literally the sons of every team of S Paulo specially Palmeiras
I just recently for some odd reason reminded myself of this game, i watched this with my friends live, and i still can't believe what i witnessed, Santos blew 3-0 lead, Ronaldinho under the wall free kick and hat trick and that Neymar's Messi like goal and his assist
You mean "that Neymar's Ronaldinho like goal" ;)
I was 9 Years Old back then in São Paulo BR🇧🇷 And that still remained as the Best Football Match i ever watched! That was the match that made me Fall in Love for Football!❤️⚽️
How is it possible your content keeps getting better and better? The new video ideas you got are absolute fire🔥 Keep making us proud! Been here since forever (I guess).
I saw that game, i was 15, it was a big deal here in Brasil, and it was a awesome game, thanks for showing Brasil some love.
I am so happy you are getting sponsorts now. Been watching you since you were at 5k
The real MVP, thanks!
this format of forgotten matches is really cool and interesting, id love to see more
I was there at the time as a 11 year old Santos suporter with my father and boy oh boy. What a night it was. I cried when the match ended but after all these years i can say it was the best match i have ever seen in my life. BRING NEYMAR BACK HOME
We all loved this version of Neymar! Can we roll back the good old times
already came in liking, watched it live without supporting neither teams and loved it
If I may suggest a match for a future video, I would go with Marseille 5-5 Lyon. An insane match between two powerhouses of the French game
I was about 12 when this match was played... unfortunately I never saw it live but only the highlights ... this match enlightened me on Neymar though and his ridiculous potential ,,,, unfortunately like many Brazilians before him including his mentor [Ronaldinho} there is a lot of talent but no longevity........... REQUEST- please make a video about Pierluigi Collina ,,,,,the world's best ever referee..... anyway you are doing great man and keep up doing the good work
Loved the video and format! If I had one suggestion it would be to see if there would be any not copyrighted videos live from the scene for these games, where we could see just how stunning it was for the people on hand. I’m sure you tried your best to find that for this video, but it adds a lot. Anyway, would love to see more of these types of videos!
Thanks man
Some footage would really be lovely!
@@FootballIconic If your doing more videos on the matches themselves then why not continue the Neymar theme.

You know where im going with this.
You could even compare and make judgement on what the best ucl comeback is. Just a suggestion of course but could be a fun vid. Anyway great content as always so I bet whatever you do it on the next video will be good. Keep ut up.
Its on youtube btw, just search for "Santos 4 x 5 Flamengo (Neymar x Ronaldinho) rptimaoTV"
Lovely idea to showcase some matches that flew under the radar. I recommend you to check one of the hypest matches ever: Wydad Athletic Club 4-4 Raja Casablanca in the Moroccan league. Their rivalry is iconic and if you heard about the unreal Moroccan ultras, you know what I'm talking about.
This match got everything: 8 goals, drama, 94' header, fouls, 2 panenkas, long range, fireworks going off on the pitch mid play... Legendary. Only 1 goal in the first half then 7 goals in only one half. Raja were dominated 4-1 by like minute 70 and managed to score 3 consecutive goals, including a late panenka, the draw giving them a crucial lead. Stuff of legends, absolutely unreal atmosphere in the stadium. Maybe not as iconic as Neymar vs Ronaldinho but such an intense match.
The arabic commentary is pure poetry. 94' equalizing header goes something like "Don't turn the page until you've read the last line! The last line is written in green! (Raja's colors)". You should definitely check it!
More of this
You’re the perfect voice to encapsulate a play by play for classic football matches 🙌🏾🙌🏾
I absolutely loved this video. And I’ve been binging your videos for a couple weeks now.
Keep up the great work mate.
Great content as always. This one and RabonaTV are by far the two most criminally underrated football channels on YT
I remember veeeeeery well this game! I was watching São Paulo FC (my team) playing against Coritiba FC on TV in that night (what was a pretty good match too) when some goals of that match start to notify on screen...1, 2, 3 GOALS scored by Santos, and me was like "hm...ok, Santos is going to thrash another team, nothing out of the ordinary", and suddenly a lot of goals of Flamengo was notified, they scored 2 goals in a few minutes, and then they tied the match. At this point I just change the channel 'cuz Neymar x Ronaldinho was going to be way crazier than I thought it would be and I'm didn't want lose that...That match was simply AMAZING, one of the BEST matchs that I ever seen so far!!!
LETS GOOO ANOTHER UPLOAD! Keep it up man, love your videos
Your videos are so detailed and informative. You are amazing dude!
Really nice concept for a serie. Would love to see more like this. Good work bro
oh i remeber this one vividly, was watching in a restaurant inside the Estadio do Morumbi (SPFC home) with a couple of friends; great video, as always, thank you for sharing with newer fans too. good stuff lad.
Thank you! I knew it existed, I never bothered to pick it up - now I watched the highlights thanks to your insight and I was laughing and smiling for the first time in a long time. Nostalgia - be that as it may - is quite strong for the me of this time back then. But there is a strong argument, that this might have been one magical coincidence in which the past and the future of brazilean future were shaking hands.
Great Video! 🔥
Would love to see more content like this.
I didn't know this game was played and im amazed by it.
Keep blessed love your videos😇
loved the format bruv!
I didn't even know about this game. Thank you for enlightening us all!
Would love to see videos like this for specific iconic matches!
Great work, thanks
your content has been good to watch for someone who is looking into following soccer consistently 👑
Very great video man!
This is a great idea for a series, please keep doing them.
Loved the video and I really enjoy your content
This video slapped brother. Would love this to be a series!!
Thank you for showing Brasil and Flamengo some love, it was a historic night for football and football fans. There was a tangible sense of convergence and of R10 passing Neymar the torch with the level that both of them displayed that game.
Need more of this for sure
Here in brazil everyone watched this and know about it, good to see its getting worldwide recognition. It really marked me as a kid, given that I was just starting to watch random matches outside of the club I support and watch football as a whole
no one will ever match the theatrics of Ronaldinho. A true performer thru and thru
Watched it live after class. Amazing game. Good old times.
You're very creative with the interesting topics you choose to cover, man. Kudos!
Another cool video! Forgotten matches - a great format to add to already great topics. Support!
I'm from brazil, and that game made me fall in love with football and FLAMENGO ❤🖤
I remember watching this match as a kid, as a Flamengo fan even after we won the libertadores in 2019 this still is my favorite match of all time!
im a flamengo supporter and i remember this game in great detail, i feel for whoever didnt watch the match when it went down, one of the best ive seen
In my opinion, one of (maybe the greatest) the best game of football that I ever seen. Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
Good stuff man 👍
I love these type of videos. Make more please 🤛🏼👍🏽🔥
Actually saw this game. It was an absolute thriller! Great video!
Awesome channel, man. Sending big ups from Australia 🇦🇺
This was a really cool idea, I'd love to see more videos like this
this was a fun new format, i definitely think you should make it a series in addition to your usual player spotlights.
Love your content keep it up
Amazing video, I think you should do more analysis of iconic matches.
I'm a Flamengo fan for 26 years now, that goal under the barrier and this game are forever etched on my mind and heart
You have the best videos on football Great job!!
I was like 12 at the time, I remember going to school in the following day and everyone was HYPED we literally couldn't stop talking about it, it's by far the best match I've ever seen in my life. Good times
i remember watching this game, i was 12 and as the games on week days start at 9:30 pm my parents used to only let me watch the first half, i was bummed when it became 3x0, but when the first flamengo goal happend i knew the game was especial and its ones of my most found football memories to this day
I would love to see this turned into a series. There's only so much football you could have watched as a gen z.
Also, it was this game that made me buy PES 12 back in the day, and one reason I still love that game.
Boys....he had done it again
The football man has done it again
Please make this a series "the greatest matches you never saw" awesome 😭🔥🔥
good shit Tinashe, another banger of a video. you're top of the list of youtubers i would want to have a beer with, up there with Alfie from HITC and Joe Devine from Tifo.
Dude more like this!
Live the Channel
Great video!
I remember going to this game when I was a kid. I have family in Brazil and my grandparents wanted to bring me to a football game and it just so happened to be that game.
I'm rocking with it, nicely done.
Awesome Video!
Hell yeah! This game still holds up pretty damn well, and it's funny to see how Flamengo spent almost that entire decade being pretty much banter material, Ronaldinho had his swan song at Atlético Mineiro, and Santos... looked like they were going to be relegated at the beginning of each season, only for a 17 year old to save them from their slump. They are still following that MO.
my jersey from that season has ronaldinho on the back... some good memories. i was very happy to see ronaldinho play for my team and it was a hell of a ride, despite people saying he was old.
would love if this became a regular series
Im from Brasil and a big flamengo fan since I was a kid
This games was insane and u really caught the ideia of it
It was completely chaos and for né the greatest game I have ever saw
It had everything
Also these two are the 2 most offensive intended teams in Brasil since ever
And in the changing room after the first half it's said that Ronaldinho told his teammates that he was going to score an under the wall
Just magic
really interesting video with an insight of historic games! I'd suggest you make a similar video about the 1954 WC Final, The Miracle of Bern, possibly the greatest football match ever played
I absolutely love your channel and have been following for almost a year now. I would love to see some videos about older English players like Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Denis Law, Duncan Edwards, Nobile Stiles, Sir Matts Busby, Gordon Banks, Sir Bobby Moore, Mark Hughes, Bryan Robson… these old British player were pivotal in building the legacy of English Football with most of them being a key factor in making Manchester United the biggest club.
Best match i have ever watched live!
Great format please add the link to the match after , you've made me lust for it
One of the best matches I’ve ever seen was the Coppa Deal Rey Semi Final in 2008, Valencia -vs- Barcelona … 3-2 to Valencia. That Baraja strike!
I watched this match with my brother (who's a Flamengo supporter). I support Figueirense, but that evening I was rooting for Santos because our father was a santista. So, I was emotionally involved in that roller coaster but, at the same time, I could be happy for my brother in the end (it definitely wouldn't happen if it were Figueira, of course). A great time to be alive.
Yes, I enjoy this format 🤩
Please make this a regular series. You could discuss other contenders before eventually picking a winner.
Never heard of this match, great idea to showcase it!
Love the play by play part!
My guy Tinashe a JoJo's bizarre adventure fan? lesgoo, GOAT football analysis + GOAT taste in anime
Really nice video, keep up
AHHHHH FOOTBALL AND JOJOS REFERNECE IN A VID. I LOVE UR CHANNEL OMGGG
Make this a series!!!!
Amazing video. I didn't know about this game
Brilliant video 👍
Im Brazilian, was a kid at this time, and football with these two in our league was Just magical
Good episode I would love forgotten match’s or the classic match’s I’m sure you would do justice to both.
I was not even a teen when I saw this game; I wasn't used to see games at around 10 p.m, but I made an exception 'cuz my two favourite players would face each other's team and nothing would stop me from watching it. I was already depressed when Santos was trashing Flamengo midway the first half. But then Ronaldinho was there and we won it in the end.
Thank you for this...
As a Brazilian, and a Flamengo supporter, and a huge Ronaldinho fan since I was a little kid watching the 2002 world cup, this is definitely my favorite match of all time
