I've got an Wilfa V1 and have been very happy with it for the two years or so that I've used it. As you stressed, it moves during the grinding process which alongside the noise are it's only downside. But for the price, you really can't argue with it!
Wilfa Svart is a true classic, interesting to hear your thoughts on it. How about a brief comparison between this and Wilfa uniform? Does the cup difference justify the price?
great video. between the wilfa svart, wilfa uniform and mahlkoenig vario which would you choose. I mostly drink hario v60 and sometime aeropress and french press
So what would be the recommended brew time for the 13 gram coffee and 200ML water as shown in the video? And do you have a link where you can find the different brewing techniques explained? (you say it's easy to find but I couldn't find instructions on this machine explaining the different options)
With the brewing time I mean the time on the Wilfa to use (30 sec, 20 sec or 10). I see it's based on preference, e.g. I use a French Press when I use 13 ounce coffee and 250 ML water how long should I first brew the beans in the Wilfa :) ?
It depends on the brewing method, but I'm using all the way up to the Aeropress mark, and sometimes a bit further. With the Kalita, I grind even finer!
I'm within the Aeropess range as well. Actually Squaremile and Workshop both have a grind-size guide for the Wilfa Svart on their website. It's worth checking out.
Will be interesting to see if you could maybe put a micron value to this? I'm using the same grinder, except to achieve brew times ~2:30-3:00, I have to use a finer setting than the one recommended here.
Little addition: brew times have generally been ~2:30-3:00 when using a pour pattern of 30-70, but allowing a gap between pours. When using this pour pattern, drainage is even faster still.
Glad I’m not the only one! Only thing I can think is that the Svarts are aligned differently? Either that, or these pouring patterns work primarily with April’s own coffee. I can barely get past a 2 minute brew on this same setting
I’ve just used the fil on the wilfa with the mocca master machine and I’m just getting the right flavours but if a use a v60 on AeroPress setting extraction takes over 5 minutes
Coffee comes down way to fast for me following this recipe. I'm between filter and aeropress, and it is just under 2 mins, the result is no body. I'll try to add a 30 sec bloom tomorrow morning, but why did you choose not to bloom?
@@coffeewithapril very interesting. I was under the impression that the Aroma was a newer model, but did not know they released it in 2016. The reason for my assumption was because a webstore in my country has set this as pre-order. If the Aroma also has the issue that I need to have my hands on the grinder while its grinding, then I might have to look for an alternative. Something in the same price range would be a Baratza Encore. Any experience with it or thoughts on it?

Tim Windelboe would definitely agree. 🚀🚀🚀
I got this grinder also, its damn nice. To bad it cant grind espresso so im waiting for my Niche Zero to arrive.
Will you sell it? If still available? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Much appreciated

Thank you for watching. We have a video coming up on the Uniform in October. We also share more insights via our Patreon account.
First grinder I got, still use it
Very informative thanks. Is the later Svart more uniform? Just asking. I hope they are good for Aeropress.
We haven’t found much difference in the performance between the two but they are both great options. What grinder are you currently using?
@@coffeewithapril hi. Thanks that’s good to know. I asked because I just bought the standard svart. I’m getting on well with it.

Nice review!!!

We recommend to stay within 3:00 of a total brew time. Have you tried that before?

Hay I drink filter n french press coffee WITH milk
What would make better tasting coffee the wilfa or the niech zero?
Baratza Encore!!
For a standard V60, what would you put the grind setting on for this grinder? Still on standard filter?

Depends on your ratio
Coffee with April Lets say I use 1:16. What would you put the grinder on?
Normaly brewing 250ml of coffee at home

Do you have any experience with the Wilfa Nymalt? Is it almost as good as the Aroma?
We think both are great and value for money.
what setting for chemex?! 21g of coffee for 340ml of what??

What is the roast degree of your the coffee your brewing?
@@coffeewithapril it is "filter". Its a Kenyan coffee from one of your competitors, from an established European roastery.
@@d3grap Doesn't say much.
👌👌👌
1:05 "and we fucking can write that somewhere"
Niche Zero!
If this is the early generation Wilfa then it's not the Aroma but the Nymalt. Please update your video title.
This is the Wilfa Svart Aroma
