Kid? I've been playing organized ball for 45 years, got a game this coming Sunday, I've managed teams, coached little league, been on the board of directors of a 30-team league, played at a major league stadium 3 times and against convicted felons at a state prison twice, even played in Asia a few times, and I've studied swing mechanics for years. Trust me, Griffey, Ruth and others have much better swing mechanics than Bonds. It's not even close. Griffey's baseline swing, (on a fastball right down the middle), is pure perfection. Go look at slo mo of Griffey and take note of the bat and arm positions at the start of the forward swing and up to contact. Pure perfection. Bonds video game stats are roid stats made possible by fraudulent fast twitch muscles.

Even in slow motion that bat speed is incredible. One of the very best to ever do it, baseball royalty. People talk that steroid use talk that gave him some sort of edge. But 'roids don't increase hand eye coordination, reaction time, ball selection etc etc. Let's talk about this big ass shoulder pad he was wearing on his right elbow!!!! Being able to crowd the plate like he did and dared you to pitch too close and risk either hitting him and sending him to 1st, remember he stole hella bags. Or him annihilating anything thrown in the zone. That's what gave him the "edge" not steroids. Oh and choking up on the bat!! Devastating.

Barry Bonds, especially in this swing has the most physical perfect power baseball swing. I have studied and written extensively about the physics of power baseball, both hitting, and pitching. Barry's swing is one of the most physically perfect baseball swings I have ever seen (analyzed using the laws of the universe that we are all slaves to). I am starting to change my mind about him being in the Hall of Fame. But I still have reservations because mechanics is not everything. Cat like reflexes, timing, and eyesight are all keener when on steroids. Couple those advantages to a physically perfect power baseball swing might give him the home run record. His impeccable power baseball swing mechanics is what made him so great, and who knows, he could have been naturally endowed with the cat like reflexes and eyesight to put him over the top without the steroids he allegedly used.

I was lucky enough to watch Reggie Jackson in his prime. Bonds has a quick swing that you don’t blink on. Jackson was just pure raw power that sucked the oxygen from the catcher and home plate umpire. They were two classic sluggers.
