I play in all the young boy leagues though. 18+, mostly college players and I am still getting it done. The beginning felt unnatural as all hell, but once it started clicking and I was loading up properly. I crushed it.
Agreed. Antonelli does a better job at explaining and also puts more emphasis on getting the lower half right so that you can in fact “turn the barrel.” Hitting done right (formerly baseball doctor) also does a great job of explaining the swing.

HItterman is the man! your everyday dad who worked his ass off trying to figure how the big leaguers swing and i think he's done a better job of that than any other average joe out there. I agree with your key points in this video but the segments you took from him was more focused on the stretch and fire not trying to have a perfect swing. He' also not an mlb player and will have physical flaws when comparing his swing to top mlb stars. His mechanics are whats sound and i highly respect him.
I'll be honest, played high level for a long time and now doing coaching. If I knew this when I was young, hands down would been a better hitter. It's by far the best way to be successful at the plate
@@jonnyw82 Teacherman is obviously legit. MLB players come to him for instruction. He doesn't explain the swing too well and the 'wrist snap' is too literal. But a proper swing is as he says it is. The barrel path is down into the zone behind you and the ball is struck on the upside. You don't swing down onto the ball or get on top of the ball which is standard coaching.
For those who misunderstand Teacherman’s technique, he over exaggerates the swing in his demonstration to help people visually understand what he’s trying to accomplish. It’s very hard to explain how to properly tilt to people with different habits and who have never properly done it before. He’s mentioned this in his videos. His specialty and primary focus is launch quickness. Reducing reaction time allows the batter more time to see and get behind the ball. Although Judge was already a talented athlete, improving his launch quickness made a difference in how he’s able to see and approach pitches at the plate. Great athletes always focus on getting better and sometimes you have to try new things. Those that resist change because something is different can continue to do the same things over and over while expecting different results; the definition of that is insanity and possibly out of baseball.

You cannot compare some of the greatest athletes on the planet from an In game swing to a guy showing specific movements in a non game scenario. He’s not even hitting a ball
He's old, of course he looks awkward doing it. But look at the bat speed coming around in the back. I only recently started looking into his videos, but that seems to be the point. The faster you can get the bat rotating around before you make contact, the harder you hit the ball.
The old adage which swing is better 🤷♂️ everyone will always have their own opinions with different results. As a golfer and Dad swing coach. I can see the benefits in his technique. He's basically teaching you a golf swing for baseball. I think his technique is solid. Judge seems to endorse it 🤷♂️ look where he's at . Hitman technique teaches you to swing throw the ball. While other swings show you how to push the ball . In the end which technique generates the best results and power for you 🤔 Given the opportunity I'd have my son learn his technique. This way you have the benefits of either technique 😉
There are no other "techniques." There is only one way for the human body to get a barrel to the baseball in the shortest time possible, and that is what all the best hitters do.
Agree, it's s play on words. If you keep your hands near your shoulder and turn. You are swinging down to the ball. That's what 99 percent of players do in mlb. If you drop your hands and barrel first before you turn , then you are forced to swing up, unless the pitch is low.

a better way to make this video convincing is instead of showing an old stiff man like teacherman showing it. show his students (happ, judge) as an example instead in live action. put them in the same scenario as the rest of your examples. instead youre comparing apples to cucumbers here

Are you really going to compare a 90 year old guy's movement patterns to a guy like Yelich? Side by side Yelich with Judge and then we'll have a fair comparison. Teacherman is pretty good.

When do Trout and Yelich make a decision to swing in these videos? before their front foot is “planted” into the ground is the right answer. How do they stay back on breaking and off speed pitches? There’s no way they do it by having a “trigger moment” on a weighted front foot
Agreeed and the foot isn’t weighted but with that decision to swing before landing you are not so torqued against or into your back hip that “swinging” into landing caused you to spin off the baseball or maintain center of mass while finishing through contact. Completely agree intent to swing us before landing. Subtle difference in where is your weight alignment even with that intent going into landing.
Have you ever been timed up for a fastball but got an off speed pitch? Your front foot lands but you don’t transfer the weight immediately, holding off a split second to let the slower pitch come. Also when taking a pitch and swinging your feet do the same exact thing. The decision to swing definitely happens after your front foot lands.
The best complete hitters of all-time did not swing like this. Aaron judge is six-foot-eight. Lol he strikes out 200 times a year. Looking for guys like bonds Griffey Sheffield A-Rod chipper Jones Adrian beltre guys that hit 330 and hit 40 home runs and struck out 50 to 60 times. Those are complete hitters that don't have a massive hole in their swing. Fat dad teacher man falls over every time he swings.

look at the balance, it is needed during contact not after it, now the comparison you make shows that you talk more about his physique than about efficiency, I don't even know that you can see his hands well, he is very fast and that is what What we are looking for, speed of the bat towards the ball, the speed of the swing, we all work on it, but not the speed. I would call it a "turn the barrel" swing. While Teacherman is decent at explaining it, Matt Antonelli is much better at simplifying it.

The trick is you are always swinging at every pitch... You make the decision "not to swing" ... not "to swing". It's easier to stop than to start.
