No, Frigg was an Asa goddess and the mother of Balder and Freya was a Vana goddess, originally one aspect of a fertility deity (she was the human fertility and her twin Frej was the fertility of the land and crops).
Frigg is the queen of the Asar and Odin is the king, but they lived a part and you have to realize that couples of the ruling class in this period didn’t have the same relationship as what is expected of a Greek/Roman/Christian couple. Women from a mighty family who married a powerful man was not a meager wife, she had a lot of status on her own, as men would be away a lot on travels. Frigg is not Freya, but Frigg is also a powerful goodness and people today are so used to there just being room for one powerful woman 🤷‍♀️
But Odin and Freya had a relationship since she taught Odin about Sejd/magic, which would involve sex since that is an aspect of fertility, prosperity and power (and not a sin as for Christians).

I asked this question to "VikingsReact" today on Twitch, and they gave me the first clear answer I've had to this question in a very long time. According to them, Freya and Frigg/Frigga may have started out as the same Goddess, but certainly by the time of the Viking Age, they have become two completely separate Goddesses (possibly earlier). I also asked them if they felt Frigg/Frigga and Freya survive Ragnarok. Their answer was they felt Frigg/Frigga might survive, but it was less likely that Freya would survive. Their reason being that Freya is the commander of the Valkyries, and because the Valkyries take part in the final battle of Ragnarok, Freya would more than likely be out there leading them into battle.

@@anaabines4105 In Germany we say Freitag. Meaning Friday. Which ultimately means the day of Freya. Same like Tuesday means Tyrstag (Deinstag), the day of Tyr, or Thorstag was Thursday, the god of thunder AKA Thor . Mittwoche used to be known as Odinstag, Wedensday. Its actually pretty obvious.

As a fan of all kinds of folklore and mythology and someone who does a lot of research, I cannot help but point out the similarities between Freya and Ishtar, the Mesopotamian goddess of the heaven, and is herself associated with love, sex, beauty, war and also political power. The latter is also known as Inanna, Astarte and was probably an influence to the depiction of Aphrodite.

4:50 ok so the thing is I'm a non practicing hindu ( since I'm more attracted to the non- dualism/ Advaitism and samkhya/ numerical philosophies within Hinduism) but these types of statements of accusing goddesses of different religions sometimes p*sses me off since in my religion too goddesses like Parvati and Sita ( Avatar of Lakshmi) who are extremely renowned in hindu lore were also accused of infidelity numerous times although none of those accusations could be backed by hard evidences. Which made me sceptical of the accusations against Freyja/ Frigg as well. And doing a bit of research I could only get a couple of incidents that have some weight as accusations. 1) In Sörla páttr, a short, late 14th century narrative from a later and expanded version of Oláfs saga Tryggvasonar' found in the Flattyjarbōk, Freya was accused by Loki of getting intimate with four dwarves for a special golden necklace and by stealing from her in her sleep Loki proved her infidelity to Odin on which Odin gave her a very peculiar punishment which could be undone by a 'Christian man' only! 😂 As you can see this is a text from a time where Christianization has already started otherwise why would a supreme god of some other religion would promote a propaganda for a rival religion, right? This one is quite self explanatory. Other than that in this text also mentioned Frigg as Odin's concubine/ betrothed not wife. So the question of infidelity doesn't hold that much of a strong ground. 😂Lol
    2) In Lokasenna, a poem in the poetic Edda, Loki accused every Norse goddesses of committing adultery once or more in their lifetime for which Feyja confronts him and suggests that Loki is trying to avert everyone's eyes off his misdeeds by making the goddesses look like villains which ensues an aggressive exchanges between the two. In the process Loki accused Feyja of being an object of 'every living being's' fancy within the Asgard and beyond and also having incestuous relation with Freyr, her brother which Njordr, her father laughingly dismissed and accused Loki of being a pervert for his weird offsprings. Again LOL 😂.
So as you can see most allegations against Feyja are just as bad and baseless as they are against Parvati and Lakshmi. Hell sometimes I wonder if there were other promiscuous gods besides Zeus and Aphrodite.

    Nor are Odr and Wodan
Frejr is not a possible twin; 100% her twin
