- Roadside fuel issues gave me the opportunity to walk through the troubleshooting and diagnostic process...which I hope is helpful to others.
I share the diagnostic steps and my thought process as I work through fixing a fuel delivery problem on a Cat 3208 diesel engine. I started with the most common, and simple, problem and eventually got to the right culprit...which turned out to be a bad ground wire.
This roadside trouble happened in our Ford truck, but the same steps generally apply to any diesel-powered truck, RV, skoolie, or coach.
Stay well grounded, folks!
This was such a great video. As someone who has zero experience with any of this I was able to follow along and actually feel capable of diagnosing my own fuel sender issue tomorrow. Thanks for taking the time to share stuff like this Ross. Really really appreciate it
As always exceptional educational content! Great that Victoria is once again alive and well.
Great presentation, brought back memories of the 3208 energized to run solenoid.
I have a 1983 Ford cabover fire truck that I converted to a 16' flatbed. Truck just quit on me while driving like Victoria. This was very useful. I will be checking these things out. Thank You very much for the video
I have the same solenoid issue. Gonna check my wires.
I hope that helps...but if not, the solenoid's easy to take apart and make sure the plunger moves freely. Best wishes!
The fact that you have liquid fuel in the housing under the solenoid means that the seal on the shutoff shaft is leaking, should be dry in there.
That's good to know, thanks!
Just got a 2008 El dorado EZ rider it has a "Digital Recorder Inc." destination sign system I would love to here any knowledge you may have on the possibility to customized these display signs. I've watched a few of the videos on the bus conversions learned alot already nice vids.
This vid is great. I have a 57 C700 Ford and have access to a 3208 with an auto trans. Was wondering if it would fit in the chassis. It obviously fits. Many thanks. Also for the info.
I'm glad I could help. I love that they made this same body style from your year until 1990. What a crazy long run. Everybody thinks mine is much older than it really is. I would love to see a picture of yours someday. Are you on the Facebook coe group?
Can you tell me the part number for your alternator. Im in need of 1 n cant seem to find part number or info for it
clue #1 is clean off the top of the engine from dirt and hair??? A clean engine runs much cooler also
