Adept Ape,
Great informative videos, hopefully they will not throw me out of the shop when I ask what steps they will be taking to diagnose my no start on a CAT 3176B in a motorhome. I absolutely do not want them throwing parts at it without good diagnosis. Your videos have given me a better understanding of what they should be doing. Keep up the great work.
I am working on an 07 Sterling C13, crank no start. I had my fuel guage hooked up and was cranking to try and get a reading when my foot slipped off the clutch pedal and she started! Guess what? It was the clutch safety switch, DOH! Adept, my brother....you have saved my life so many times, I can't begin to thank you. U da Man!
C15 and 3406E. On both them performed a cylinder head replacement and rebuild and after putting it back together wouldn’t start.(crank no start) Fuel pressure ok and no engine codes. Cam sensor was the issue both times. Weird it never logged a code but just fyi for anyone who runs into this
Hello adapt ape, just wanted to tell you thank you for all the informational and educational videos you post. I am by part a aviation Mechanic myself, and it seems that to me that the semi-truck industry has a lock down on information they just don't want you to find or get a hold of. it's almost like a secret clearance that you need just to get manuals for your truck. I've worked on line maintenance for ch-47, and oh-58d for the army and we've never worked on aircraft without our manuals. I'm now a truck driver, just wanting to say keep up the good deeds.. I own a c15 that's always giving me problems and these videos help me all the time. God speed my friend.. land of the free, home of the brave..
+Robert Pardo Thanks for the kind words. I like hearing that people enjoy the videos. The info is hard to find I think because it is a much smaller market than the auto industry, but I like doing the videos and I'll keep putting them out as long as people watch them.
that is right Robert,,,, secret society Trucks , Trailers..... I am cat truck engine analyst and yes so many technical advancements that lots never even comprehend. all engines have same basic operation, yet the manufactures all have different ideas and ways of ussing sensors to make the electronics operate. For me Caterpillar is a very high standard of technology, yet can be worked on and lot of backup in literature, manuals parts systems,. Think engine technology is hard to source infomation, try getting chassis alignment, steering and suspension geometry settings from the truck, trailer manufactures.
I think this is the best video on engines i've seen. Takes into consideration that not all of us have expensive equipment
With my experience, fuel lines, fuel filters, and return rail pressure regulator (check valve), and dirty ECM Power leads from battery are the biggest culprits. The only ECM's I have ever had fail were the Cummins N14 due to failed injector drivers. I've had very good luck with Detroit Diesel and CAT ECM's. After last Friday's failure of OPS sensor, I have now replaced all my sensors including TRS, SRS, CLS, CTS, FTS, and both air intake sensors. With new bearings, cyl-kits, and injectors, I am good for another million miles of service.

Thanks for the video, it didn't cover my MUI system but I do have a better understanding of what to look for.
Watched your video and went out and started going through the list. Found a green corrosion power wire rotted off. You make great videos that are easy to follow. Great work and thank you very much !!
Glad it helped you out 😊
I did note that you had not checked the fuel filter output. I personally found many cold engine start fails to be week flow fuel filters mostly show up during cold start durring cold to very cold weather this is mostly GMC, Kuibotas, Oliverse, Mann, and many Euro's Diesels, American's units as well any other throughout my world travels {US Army} but only two "Cat's TA 1697" please keep up this good work I am retired Diesel mechanic and I started back when D5 Cat's had to be started by torch heatting cylinder glow rods during the middle 1950's. Most Diesel fuel is very dirty even right out of the station pumps. Oh I almost forgot to say about clouding of cold fuel was not present in nearly every case.
Im doing research for Caterpillar and your videos have been very helpful! I'm going to keep watching and gaining insights from what you do.
+Michael Garcia Thank you for watching, what is the research for?
My team and I are looking into what Caterpillar can do to provide better, more reliable information to its customers when it comes to the areas of maintenance and fleet management.
Sounds pretty interesting, hope you like the videos.
Greatest searching true best thanks
Thanks for sharing
Excellent video and thanks for great simple explanations.
hey man I've got a few questions to ask you, regarding upgrading from a 5ek to a lw.
Just spent a sleepless night in central Nevada (aka major BFE) after my 3126 refused to start. In the morning I was able to contact some of my diesel tech contacts, First suggestion most of them had was to unplug the HUEI sensor. This is located on the front of the head on the drivers side next to the valve cover. I understand this sensor can fail and cause a no start. Didn't cure my problem, however one of the top techs from Peterbilt in Sparks, NV suggested I go after the fuel pressure regulator and check valve located on the back of the head. Very well hidden by the way. Easy on a diesel pusher coach, but on a FL60 big PITA. Did get it pulled out and cleaned and freed up. Real pain to bleed air from system afterward but it fired and ran great! No start? Try the check valve back of the head. Saved me a $2,000+ towing charge.
This is exactly why, as an owner operator, I run a 07 truck and refuse to buy a new truck with all the sensors.
You can trouble shoot and repair these engines with out being a super tech with a super computer.
When your in Wyoming during a snow storm and you get a ck light on, your fked LOL Or Northern NV or Even BFE Canada...your in major trouble.
But you have hope with a older truck.
A 3406 b or e or a 12.7 detriot or even a n14 will all allow you to make it to a safe space even if you have engine issues.
With the new trucks, your on a tow truck quicker then you can say FUtruck! Then prepare for the beating your gonna take at the shop in Diag time and then parts and service time. Dont even get me started on Volvo engines , paccar, mack engines or 08-10 isx junks. They should go to jail for selling those to people.
U r a moron Volvo motors are the best so far they still schools North America how to build a decent motor and Mercedes schools Detroit how to build a decent motor the cat garbage it got lucky whit international they got bought so STFU u moron and keep changing 2 turbo s in the same time
Lee Hill 🤣😂🤣
Whats the most likely issue if your CAT 3208 wont start? It runs off of starting fluid when sprayed into the intake, but once it runs the starting fluid out it dies.. I blead all the injectors and they all have diesal flowing from them. It has plunty of diesel inthe tanks... The fuel filter is full and primed
The tow job should be a beating also... I'm just reminding....
My 3406e starts up quite nice and ok but it won't shut down when I switch the ignition off, I have to stall it to shut her down, can you tell me anything about that, thanks
Very helpful video man, thanks.
Hey guys! I have a C7 engine family 5CPXH0442HBK with the cylinder head off and the walls on cylinder #3 with some scratches, if not gouges. The original symptoms were huge blowby coming out and blue smoke / oil coming out of the tail pipe. What is weird is that cylinder and head area for cylinder #3 are dry and we found oil on top of the other cylinder / head area. Also, only cylinder #3 exhaust manifold hole is wet of oil and the other ones are dry. Please let me know what are the chances that this engine can be rebuilt, maybe by cutting the walls and putting bigger pistons. Or, what are the margens /specs / limit for cutting the walls. Thank you for your help
Thanks for your videos very helpful. I do have a question about a cat c12 I have now for 6 years. It has only failed to start twice and mysteriously, after I let it sit, and then it started. I did have fuel pressure but it just wouldn't fire. Would be interested in knowing what I can do if it happens to do it again. Thanks
I too am a diesel mechanic but on earthmoving equipment for about 30 years now love your programs very informative
Can you give me an idea of why a caterpillar d8r engine is not cranking.
I have a c7 that is difficult to start cold even when it 60’ F. Will give whiteish smoke when cranking and sometimes needs either. Once it starts it runs excellent and fires up fine when warmed up. Any ideas what could cause this? Thanks so much!

Hi, thank you for posting this video, I have a 2005 Chevy Truck C6500, when I just got the truck it was good, then after it start smoking a lot, running very slow, then it crank but don’t start any more. Can please tell me what I can do to fix it or make it start again. Thank you
Hey how are you? Thank you for all your informational videos they are great, I have 1995 twin Cat 3116 marine application, one of them when I shut it off and try to start it 5 min after shut off and warm up gives me trouble to start won’t crank right up. any ideas where to look
You make great videos with correct info! 🤙
What do you think about pre engine heater (coolant engine heater)
Great channel AApe. AApe...do you have any clips addressing the topic of...restart after extended sitting?
I just bought (2) 2004 C7 Bluebirds that have been sitting about a year. Anybody have tips for C7 start after sitting?
Oil is very clean, so I'm thinking maybe just a fuel filter change. Near the Gulf so less cold weather condensation issues.
Man thanks you for this video excellent explanation been trying to get a car 11 to start for 2 weeks from this video I replaced the ecm and the truck started right up this morning thanks
Mr. Adept Ape..your vids you were part of our course, Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Specialist Program in TSTC in Harlingen, Tx...learned alot from you. I graduated the program and got certified but I can't find a job yet. When I DO get one I'll donate. Good vids.
+Hector Garibay My videos are part of a curriculum? That is cool to hear, maybe I'll be a teacher one day, that would be fun. Maybe our paths will cross one day, I wish you good luck in finding a job.
You're already a teacher,you just didn't know yet...I'm watching your vids every other day as a refresher...thanks.
hey boss call me in here in Edinburgh and I'm getting a f650 cat here Monday. I need help with it it won't start only if u spray it it will call me 1773-949-5142 Robert
Hey there adaptive ape, i have 2001 ram cummins and its been sittin and im wondering if i need to clean out my injector lines before i starting trying to crank it over. Im worried about plugging up the injectors (algea ect....) and i live in Arizona, not sure if being hot effects anything
Could you do a video on a 1995 3176 that has been sitting up for a couple. years, I could pay you for it?
U are awesome 👌 thanks from Dustin Mason my problem was ecm wire u led me right to it ! Much love
Thanks for you dedication to helping us! I just purchased a 1997 Motorhome with 60K miles on a 3126B that cranks but will not start unless starting fluid is used, once it starts it will run just fine as long as you maintain greater than 1000 rpms, no smoking and engine runs smooth above 1000. If you ease up on the gas pedal to below 1000 rpms the engine shuts off, you can not feather or pump the pedal to keep it going, it is seems like an instant loss of spark/fire. Owner before me says he changed the HEUI pump and it did not correct the problem. Any thoughts?
Having a problem with Cat 3116 GMC topkick 1998 when it's Midwest cold! Any advise? Like your videos
Hey thanks for making these videos i have been watching them and they are really helping me understand more about some of the Cat stuff, I also get to start my apprenticeship at my Cat dealer over here in NZ in jan so these vids will be heaps of help.
Thanks and keep up the great work!!
+Mark Stringer Best of luck to you on your apprenticeship.
@@AdeptApe hey man thancks for you videos
Hello. I have a c7 in a GMC c7500 and I’ve been trying to get it started for about two months now. I replaced the HUIE pump and installed the filter you reviewed that goes after the pump. I also replaced the ECM because there was no connection to a scanner. It has started a total of three times using ether to get it started but only runs for about three minutes then dies and won’t start. If you have any suggestion I would really appreciate the help. Thank you.
About that klein tool does it work with AC OR DC..
Thank you I had to put power to 52 53 leads and it work thank you
Thanks this video, to how exact adjust valve and injector clearance.
As usual Great video Adept...i've a question...on my Kenworth t660,MHC recently (3-4) weeks ago replaced automatic clutch my my transmision...after replacement i got a code which reads "TOTAL PTO Fuel message missing"...what is it...is it causing any deteriorate to my engine or transmission? is it fixable without any computer or should i take it to Kenworth? please reply.
Man I appreciate your videos and so do my mechanics. Your grandfather's father must have worked on CATS because you know your shit! Excuse my language but it's impressive. Will be subscribing. Also I have a few questions if you are ever able to find time.
By the way , thanks for the shop videos
We have been having this problem with our truck. crank no start, been using either to get it started. Been doing this for at least six months and it is driving us crazy. It is the cat 3126 in a sterling. Thanks for taking time to share your knowledge! I will be back.
+Ruger Allworth Sounds like you might have a weak or dead injector when cold. Is the intake heater coming on?
This is my issue as well and same truck.
HEY I GOT A C15 HAVE HELL START IT AFTER SET HAVE TO USE EITHER TO GET START I HAVE CHANGE CHECK VAL WHAT ELISE I NEED TO DO TO DAT RACAL?
I really like your new intro!
+William Garrett Thank you.
Is there a way to check your atmospheric pressure switch ?
Can U please tell me what oil do you recommend for my C13? THERE ARE many opinions.
Hey Adept Ape,love all the educational videos that you put out. They're great. But could you put out some more hands on videos for us to enjoy. Thanks.
What if you own a older caterpillar D3c like I do. It has no check engine lights and such. Cranks great just won't run. Fuel smoke come out the pipe a little. Ran fine after I changed oil and fuel filters. Cut it off after about 20 minutes. Tow weeks later it won't start.
I have a 1999 3126 that has faults on all 6 injectors. I tried putting the test light in the wiring harness where it goes into engine. The light flickered just like yours did on the video. So could it still be my ECM even though I’m getting voltage on the wires? Also we tried a test ECM from a local diesel mechanic but the engine still didn’t run. Our local cat dealer seems to think we have a short in wiring underneath the valve cover. Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Could you provide a link where you could find a good cat fuel pressure check gauge like the one you use in videos! What did you call the connection point? A comp u check valve?
As a 91B, thank you 🙏🏽
DD-214
Hey buddy I got 3126 it will cold start but no hot start only 500 psi from heui pump so I changed it still no hot start when no start not getting power to injector wires unless I unplug the three wire injection actuator sensor then the ecm starts to send some power to injector wires but no start. I’m at a loss right now and advise would be very appreciated thanks.
Brother love your channel, I got a m2 freightliner with a c7 Caterpillar 2008, my truck was running and out of nowhere blew all oil out the transfer pump whip hole, the huei pump is about 2 years old, so I replaced the transfer pump, it ran good for about 2 hours then did it again blew oil out the transfer pump. Any thoughts?
I've got a c10 crank no start. First thing I noticed is the engine light key on engine off will not come on. Can wire from pin 70 "no power" cause this?
Hello Sir, I recently acquired a 2003 M2 Freightliner. I have found your videos most helpful with my C7. I seem to have a problem for which I have not found much if any information on. I have watched videos on cold or first start issues, which mine has but after the first start in the morning she starts up fine. My biggest issue is that the engine won’t shut off when the ignition switch is turned off, I have to pull the ecm fuse in order to shut her down. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, I’m not sure where to start looking. Thank you for your time and great informational videos.
If it runs through an ignition relay to send voltage to the ecu to wake it up the relay contacts may be stuck on
Adept whats up!!! Hey i uploaded a video of a cummins engine i might look into buying but i feel like its clapping too loud maybe the main bearings??? can you look at it and please comment give me your input or can you tell just by sound if it sounds like its running properly i may be wrong!!
dear i have genset powered by c15 the speed is low and it give warning cylinder(1-6)current below normal
Very informative.. I Like...
This video was extremely helpful
Thanks for the video. I have 2004 GMC C7500, The engine won't start after sitting down for 2 hours, but with quick start spray into the intake then the engine start. Also if I plug in the electricity power in the night and start the engine first thing in the morning it will start easily. My question is what do you think might be the cause of not starting after 2 hours of shutting the truck down?
I have checked the fuel line and it is supplying well. The ECM is also ok. Please what else can I do
Locally in PR we have not so many CAT TECH. But we have 3 CAT 3116 1997. now we have a Fuel pump transfer section problem. we exchange Sleeve and piston but still hard to start since we have no pressure on Fuel gallery. Please help with some suggestions.
current currently having problems with a generator that has a 3126b (bdz series) engine it. the engine will crank and according to the display on the GSC (generator set control) the rpms are at 250 but it won't start. the issue with it before was it had an undervoltage alarm. now it has no fault codes and it won't start. Is this an ecm problem?
Thanks so much for your videos. I have a question: 2001 3126B with no crank, no start. was intermittent, then complete no start. In Thomas chassis (front engine, flat nose). Engine serial number CKM24206. Batteries 12.6V, contact/wires good, just replaced starter... now it's beeping and showing EPS stop engine when key is in 1st position. Oil level is 1/3 of the way between "add" and"full". Driver for HEUI: Approximately 11 ohms (engine off). Has 1/2 tank of diesel fuel. Oil pressure may be low...what is expected starting/running? It's like 5-10 running. Sorry for huge comment, please help, appreciate your videos, please respond asap.
+100sooperdooper oil pressure is 5 psi running! That is super low. Check that first, that can cause no HEUI pressure.
any help is greatly appreciate ,i have a 2005 f650 ford with a cat motor believe its the 3126 c7 was driving fine then trans light came on and truck died will not restart has NO WAIT TO START OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON WHEN KEY CYLED TO ON POSITION found ecu fuse at battery box blown replaced fuse still no change. when key cycled on check trans comes on will this cause the check engine and wait to start lights not to come on thanks
I've never owned a diesel powered vehicle but just knowing how they operate is good information to have. I do have a question, since the ECM is prone to fail is that more or less a design issue they have or the environment they operate in. Kinda curious about about that.
+wade hicks The ECM on a Cat might run for 15 years without a problem, but they do fail. It is mostly just the computer is doing a lot. It has to control the high voltage going to the injectors, as well as all the sensor inputs, in a dusty, high vibration, and hot environment. It's surprising they last as long as they do. They are fairly expensive though.
Adept Ape 15 years is a lotta life. I misunderstood the amount of time. my bad. How Diesel engines work is quite interesting. Thanks for your time.
wade hicks my truck is a 96 and has original ecm, 22 years old and still doing its thing.
@@AdeptApe Have you tried baking the ECM at 385degrees in a preheated oven for 8-10 minutes?
Obviously take any bits off that would melt at that temperature, this resets the soldering and in most cases fixes most computer related issues, I would assume the same principle would apply to a ECM.
i have a 2007 cat 953 once engine is cool (sat all night) it will not fire without help of wd 40 once it fires it lopes intermittently at low idle and acts the same at high idle
just recently i replaced the ecu, and the fuel/oil pressure sensor and hue pump. still doing it exhaust smells a little unburned
ideas????
from your experience with Caterpillar engines at how many revolutions do you recommend working
Hi Josh. Does the power probe you use in the video measure DC voltage as well as AC voltage or voltage from any any source of polarity?
I have a 2006 5.9 L and i was replacing a wiring connector so i disconnected the battery. I got it all back together and it would start so i got it towed to a shop. When i disconnected the battery the ecm ground wire fell off and i didn't notice it.
can you crack open the outlet line and see fuel spray.
We have an ISUZU C221 Diesel Engine.... and came from surplus shop thus has no car body... just engine only, and it runs but it takes couple of cranking and preheating ( usually at least 30 seconds ) before it really starts, what could be the issue here?
is there a way to crank start the engine without spending too much time preheating ? I see that some diesel engine vehicles just crank-start by preheating for just around 5 to 10 seconds..
please advise...
Great information. I have a 2008 C7 that starts and runs great for about 1 hour, then the check engine comes on and off then the engine shuts down. It does not overheat. It will crank but not restart until the next day. I've changed the fuel filter , water separator, temperature sensor, fuel back flow valve, drained fuel tank and cleaned checked fuel lines. Could it be the ECM or a relay?
Hello Adept Ape! what is the exact model of this klein inductive volt meter you are using to test injector pulse of caterpillar?
hey adept!
so can you increase the speed on a c7 by adjusting injectors?
+Omar Nope, there really isn't any adjustment on the C7 injectors. If you are talking about the max engine speed that can be changed in ET, but the flash file also limits it.
Hey my name is Thomas my best friend he owns a tree company. He has a 05 C7 I stumbled upon your videos and find them absolutely great man I personally am on Social Security when I get my check I will be sure to send it or Nation thank you for taking the time to make these videos
6nz loses fuel prime has compression in coolent would that be indacation of a cracked head no coolant in oil or white smoke out exhaust
Thank you!!
Regards, I have problems for the cat c32 of starting it, no start by the ecmp, I gave a direct start by the automobile of the starter and the machine lights but no values of the temperature nor of oil pressure.
In the ecm shows in the screen **** psi **** ºC,
If you can help me I would appreciate it.
Cat c11 engine not starting was working perfect. It has being park for eight months when I went back to start it. It not starting
Have a 1998 Chevy C6500 truck with a 3126 that was running when parked but sat for 5-years. Runs on ether. Manual pressure pump (primer) pumps up hard. No power to magnetic solenoid but all fuses show good. Directly powered the solenoid but no start. Would really appreciate a direction to go in. Kinda in a hurry to get running
hi , whats a good diesel car engine ?... thanks.
HEY. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. ONE QUESTION, WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY A NEW/REMAN HEUI PUMP FOR THE C7? ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?
A long shot question, but my Isuzu 5.2 diesel 4hk1 won't start. Can I do a compression test by removing the glow plugs? Or does it have to be tested through the injectors?
ApplianceGuyOnline you can do a compression test at either. I do mine thru the glowplugs on any Isuzu. Just make sure the pump is in the stop position as fuel will enter the bores sealing the rings otherwise giving a false reading
Bought the gauge through your link. Hope it helps you out.
@adept ape how's it going man? I just changed a head in a C-12 and now it just cranks but will not start.
Replace the head again
I have a C7 ACERT in a FMTV military truck-No fuel pressure at all and I swapped out the fuel pressure regulator. I have not yet checked fuel pressure out of transfer pump. Vehicle has been sitting a long time and fuel was contaminated with water and even had some rust in pri @ sec fuel filters. I filled the tank with good fuel and changed the filters.. Zero pressure at secondary fuel filters. Best to change HEUI pump AND injectors?
I love your calmness and teaching skill....keep up your channel.
+Mark Tucker Thank you.
Have a 3126 in a 04 GM 6500 service truck. Engine will die at any time. Starts back up by just shutting key off and starting back up. . Fuel level, Oil psi, water temp, and voltage gauges go dead when the engine dies. All other electrical functions remain on. If I pull the fuse out on the fuel, pcv, emc , and put back in the gauges come on and the truck starts up. Any ideas on this problem
+Jim sievers Sounds like you are losing the pin 70 switched 12V signal. That is a real common problem on RV engines. I would run a new switched wire and see if that fixes it.
Hello sir,
Ever hear of a 2000 CAT 3126 going down the road fine and then all of a sudden the throttle pedal stops working and then eventually the engine dies leaving you along the road? I had no leaks or anything visible. The engine still cranks but no fire. Earlier in the morning i changed a burnt out tail light and i noticed as i turned the flashers on my climate control display was blinking in sync with the hazards. The turn signal would just stay solid then all of a sudden everything acted fine. Proceeded to job site and just lost power.
Love your explanation ,question i have a 7.2 cat 6500 ,sr any help will be greatly appreciated , my truck runs and idles like a new one the trouble i am having is that as i try to drive it he goes to missing and blowing white smoke this started last week listening to your explanation i am incline to believe may be the heui pump ? any help you may recommend on this issue the oil gage in the truck does show a low pressure ? acts like water in system that was all check , really use to working on 6.0 7.3 this truck never have give me trouble ,your help will be greatly apressiated ,i do get codes for all injectors and replace the icp sensor for i had code 39 showing also, but still doing the same thing ??? thanks
+Jose Gorriz Can you email me this question please at AdeptApe@yahoo.com
could you recommend a lower priced scanner capable of actuator and injector tests for a c7?
The launch x431 is perfect does any brand of truck it does all calibrations and injector pulse test... Injector coding
Biggest non starting issues for the 3208 NA ?
Good day.
Yor videos are simply done well. much appreciated. I have one of the problem with C15 engine as described below. Kindly assist to advice the way forward.
Caterpillar Engine model C15, serial number MCW02801, ECM software 367-0750
this engine is used on crane. Always problem in starting engine with battery.
Air start always okay. Engine RPM reaches close to 200 RPM and engine starts without problem.
on battery first time it reach around 180 RPM and engine start. from 2nd start onwards engine rpm reach only 150 but could crank at 150 as long we keep the start button pressed. this show that battery has capacity to crank for prolonged period of time but engine is not starting at 150 RPM
for the purpose of test while we crank the engine using battery at 150RPM, I sprayed engine starter spray at the fresh air intake side of the engine and the engine is getting started.
my question:
1. what is the starting RPM is needed for engine to start?
2. is it possible to make the ECM to release fuel at 150 RPM?
3. what is the interface communication cable needed and software is needed and where to buy them?, I am stationed at Singaproe
Kindly assist to advice.
I’ve got a 3406A cat in a 74 cabover pete. Ran great, but I flipped a toggle switch on the shift tower that says “Engine Start”. Since then? No fire.... ie; no fuel to the rack.
Plenty of fuel. And help is great!
Do you have an air over electric shut off? Or a electric shut off? Never heard of a toggle switch that you have on shift tower.
When air bleed off these, they would start until air built back up. (No power or failed shut off). Electric you held the button until the engine shut off. Some of these had a manual cable that you pulled and shut the fuel off. Take the end cover off the pump (front side). Two 1/2 head bolts. You can leave the tach bolt in, loosen the inside bolt and flip the cover up. See if the rack moves. If all the way in, it is in the shut off position. Should be able to push it in and return back. If it won't move at all your rack is stuck and I would not try and start the engine until you figure out the problem.
hey i love ya vids and calm demeanor lol i got a question i have a 1999 Gmc topkick with a 3126 has a no start issue when the key is first turned on the check engine light comes on for a few seconds then goes off as it should but it cranks and no start if i spray ether in it it will run for like 20 min but if it stalls or i turn it off it wont start back up on its own without ether have u ever run into this can you help me.
davon byrd hey I’m having the same problem you’re having. Did you ever find out what was the problem??
Great video! I've had a crank/ no start issue on my motor home twice. Both times it was the 20 amp fuse near located near battery that energizes the ACM. (bad connection) The only way I found problem was when I called Freightliner 27/7. The first thing they had me check was the ACM fuse. Just thought I mention this.
+Rob Neil ECM power issues are one of the biggest reasons for them not starting, thanks for commenting.
Can someone send a picture of this fuse ?? I have several on my RV and it's not starting. Battery went dead and was dead for several months ! Now no start without Starting Fluid and will die when the starting fluid is stopped !!. Please help. 1997 Cat 3126 with the HUEY system.
@@AdeptApe Ok. So, I am in the exact situation as most others. We did everything in this video as well as your fuel video. MXS Acert. New fuel pump, new injector harnesses, filters, fp regulator, check valves hoses, injector Orings, ran the rack, bucket test from fuel pump, new starter, new batteries, all fuses are good. No start. Had a tech come out and hook up to data port. It ran on ether until no ether. Laptop recorded all 6 injector low voltage fault. All guage work. Fuel pressure 85, oil pressure good while running on ether. Scanner reads all 6 injector fault. Technician say either engine harness or ECM.
My 950G wheel loader has got a hard start... am only using petrol to starting.., today i changed the diesel pump, the same problem still happens...?
Thanks for your training. Very educative.
Please, I have a cat c 7.1 Marine gen set that couldn't start. I connected cat ET to it and showed that the fuel rail pressure was zero while cracking, and there were no active or logged faults codes recorded. Solenoid test shows ok. I have replaced all the unit injectors and the injection pump, and the engine still records zero fuel rail pressure. What is your advice, please? Thanks
Got a 3176 where is the fuel check valve at
Would you please make a video on cam removal on c7 and or 3126 thank you
