Edit: THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL! I repeat, this is not a tutorial. Noticed some people being not so nice in the comments. This is me trying something new instead of my tried and true method for slick ponytails. I never show my trial and error stuff, but this is what made me master my hair. I got used to everything I know that works and I want to try stuff that I haven’t before including method variations, products, and tools. I’m a perfectionist and videos like these are me showing imperfections and processes. Please don’t discourage trial/error and humanizing of content creators

You have to straighten your hair and use a hard brush and a non-water base products
For the sleekest ponytail possible you’d have to straighten your hair (at least the roots) and I like to use style factor edge control. love your channel btw 💕
I don't have much hair now 😂 but I loved the "hair hooks" from Amazon . They look like mini bungee cords, but were the only things that worked for my big, thick hair ! And they don't pop 😐

Girl you should have done it in sections and used a holding hair spray with gel and blow dried it to get it stay. Then just do a braid with your hair and then the zipper method with clip ins or some bundles. My clients with your thickness of hair be the BEST arm workouts 🤣🤣🤣

Here's a tip for getting a somewhat slick ponytail on type 4 hair.
Instead of using multiple hair ties, use one hair tie, and a thin shoe string.
Put the hair tie on the end of your hair to gather it, and use the shoe string to as the main hair tie. The tighter you pull and wrap it, the tighter the ponytail.
I use a thigh high stocking give me the best and slickest ponytail hair ties don't work for us naturals lol
I like to use a yaki straight texture, a thick wavy texture, or even a curly one. They are easier to blend and just as cute.
same, those silky textures just aren't for me unless I straighten my hair which I haven't done in like 4 years

I've never related sop much wen it comes to putting my hair in a bun. FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT!!! I do the same technique w/ put the end of my hair in another scrunchie cuz it be 2 much to put thru.
I have to part a circle around where I want my ponytail to be, then slick that up into a ponytail. Then slick up the back onto the ponytail and put it up over the original. Same for the front. that will help get it super flat at the roots.
I like the trail and error videos. Every time I watch a video it's perfect. Then I try and it's not. I be like well dang do I suck at this? So to see you show that every style doesn't co.e out perfect the first time around is nice

First of all... Your natural hair is goals!!! The ponytail is not as full as to match the thickness of your hair. Overall, looks beautiful and id definitely rock this anyday.

When I do sleek pulled up look ,I do two ponytails. Leave the perimeter out gather all the hair in the middle into a pony. Then pull the rest up into another pony around the first. Use which ever is your favorite edge control and hairspray and wrapstrips for a sleek look. But it still turned out cute!!

doing a braid out with JUST OIL the night before doing a sleek style on blown out hair helps make my thick hair a lot more compact, so it does most of the work for you

I like to use a shoe lace like i would a puff but i'd just pull it till is becomes a bun and the shoe lace kinda slicks down the hair as it goes up, and then i use a little bit of gel to lay any loose bits and then use a scarf to secure it. Hope this helps :)

I do ponytails often. I just break it into sections. I do the middle first! I have type 4 and I don’t flat iron my hair. You can flat iron a lil bit of the perimeter of your hair ( just what’s showing) but I’ve only done that once

🤣 I feel you my hair is the same texture! Try just flat ironing the outside layer of your hair with some silk elements heat protectant. Also, edge booster edge control is the best for thick hair.

The ponytails that have the comb at the top and at the end are better and they have the drawstring with it that will cover your hair bun all over. Those are the best. That would have made the whole process and final look A+.
