  • Are you hearing a "clicking" sound from under the dash board?
    Most likely its one of the blend door actuators.
    Replacing the blend door actuator on my Ford F150 - Here are the locations of all FOUR blend door actuators on the 2014 Ford F150 (eco boost FX2). The top one isn't as hard to get to as people make it out to be. Just make sure you know which one is bad before you start removing stuff.
    Don't make the same mistake I did...

    thank you so much for this video. My C blend motor by gas pedal was my bad one. King Ranch has fancy pedal that you need a 13mm socket to get the 3 bolts loose and get it out of the way. My local auto parts had a Dorman part in stock, and all Ford parts will be too late and ship when I was out of town. Again, thanks!

    Actuators Part# and purpose
    Ford MOTORCRAFT YH1933 - Blend Door Actuator (Single climate control has 1x actuator)(Dual climate control has 2x actuators)
    -Mixes cold and hot air to set temps. People have noted that it will click when changing temp drastically as its changing how much hot or cold air is flowing.
    -Single climate control: Behind radio slightly on passenger side.
    -Dual climate control passenger side issues: Behind radio slightly on passenger side, also same place as single climate control systems.
    -Dual climate control drivers side issues: Behind and slightly below glove box.
    ***Ford MOTORCRAFT YH1881 - Mode Door Actuator (**One in the video**)
    -Controls direction air is flowing (floor, dash vents, windshield). Will click when first getting in truck, as well as when the air direction is changed.
    -Next to gas pedal on drivers side. Easiest to replace and easiest to test. For testing, just reach up and undo cable clipped to it. If clicking stops, you have the correct one. If its unplugged and still clicks its one of the other ones.
    Ford MOTORCRAFT YH1770 - Air inlet Actuator
    -Changes the vent to allow air in from the outside or circulate the air in the cabin.
    -People have noted that when changing the air from inside to outside or outside to inside it clicks. This can be tested by only changing the one aspect of the hvac, AC must be off otherwise it will try and close the vent automatically to cycle cabin air. Otherwise, the other actuators may click as well giving you a false noise when you think you are testing this one. This is also the hardest to replace.
    I had this all written down on a note, prior to seeing this video. Mine YH1881 started clicking like 3yrs ago, so I looked into for a while to get a better understanding of the entire system. I like to work on my own vehicles so notes like this help.

      For dual climate control. Which actuator would cause truck to have no heat on drivers side of the truck, but heat on passenger side works.

    I also replaced the top one, Can you post a vid of how to do the one on the driver's side by the gas pedal? and the part number for that.

      The one on the driver side by the pedal IS the one I replaced in the video. Very easy to get to. You don’t have to move anything out of the way. #8L84-19E616-CA

    What exactly is the part number you replaced (the one right above the gas pedal)? The part in the bag is 19E616-C but you when you point to the diagram, you say 19E616-B is the one "you are replacing right now" and point to 19E616-C as the one you thought you had to replace. Just want to confirm before ordering. Thanks. By far best video I've found.

    I mean… it’s not like you drove around for months cursing your truck every time you started it and putting off the repair because it was a tough spot to get to 😂😂😂 After you get off that nutcracker I’ve got a nice warm pumpkin stout waiting for you. Extra lactose 🥛

    So if you have heat on passenger side, but no heat on the driver side. Which Blend door actuator would cause that problem. AC works fine.

    • @mrnobodysgarage
      @mrnobodysgarage  Před 2 měsíci

      There are 4 actuators total. One on the drivers side above the pedal, two in the middle (one high and one low) and one on the passenger side.

    Notes for next time amigo. The driver side, you have to align the door the actuator attaches to with a 1/4 inch socket to match the position of the new actuator. New actuator should come with the tool for the socket.
    And when mine failed it was the teeth on the wheel under the circuit. Just got brittle and popped one off.

      But great content for sure. I learned the same stuff. Came here looking for how to adjust that door. So thought I would share

      @mrnobodysgarage  Před měsícem

      Hmmmm…. Mine didn’t come with any tool… I actually didn’t have to align it either. It was a straight replacement. That annoying part took like 5 mins to swap.

      @mrnobodysgarage dang lucky you! That was the most frustrating part for me. The gapped side just wouldn't line up with the door and you can't spin the actuator obviously.
      But yeah mine came with a little tool for it. Otherwise I probably would have made it worse 🙃

      @@twnable Yes you are right. The exposed gear on actuator has a keyway and must be aligned with blend door keyway. The Dorman comes with the alignment tool not the Motorcraft. I was able to cut down a plastic knife to align the parts.(fits inside the the blend door female gear to turn and align with new actuator. New actuator has a alignment arrow at keyway) I was laying face up and kind of difficult to get the prospective of what your seeing. If I was more flexible I would start face down and look up. LOL
